"You seem tired again today. Are you sleepy?" Anton asked, genuine concern making itself known in his tone.
"Bit of a headache. I'll be fine in a while."
"At this rate, you'll only ever visit my house when you need to sleep." Anton teased. Xander simply shook his head, rolling his eyes.
"Come, I'll take you to the guest room." Anton called standing up. Xander stood up as well, following behind him.
Anton took the lead towards the guest room Xander slept in the last time, with black and navy blue furniture.
Anton welcomed Xander in, shutting the door behind them. He walked up to the wardrobe in the corner and opened one of its doors.
"There are clothes in the wardrobe this time. Pick whichever. I bought some clothes, and kept them all here in case you decided to come back to my house to sleep." He teased with a smile. Xander gave him an unreadable look.
"Ok, ok I'll stop. It's just very convenient that I have something to tease you about." Anton admitted.
"Make yourself at home. Would you be joining me for dinner this time? You did visit in the evening, just like the last time."
"Am I welcome to join you? I mean, I don't mind dining with you, because it means one less meal to pay for."
"Blunt as always." Anton remarked, his lips curving into an amused smile, as though Xander didn't just admit, he was using him to get a free dinner.
He could admit to using Anton to get free dinner but he couldn't admit to visiting Anton just so he could sleep. Maybe it was because sleeping makes you vulnerable, especially sleeping in an unfamiliar environment. He and Anton had a very undefined relationship so he couldn't quite be called an acquaintance, talk less of a friend. Therefore, admitting that he came to Anton's home to sleep was more or less stating that he trusted Anton.
"You're always welcome to join me. I'll set an extra place for you on the table. Sleep well." Anton bid him farewell and shut the door behind himself on his way out.
Xander walked towards the wardrobe and opened it. He stood there for a while. Whatever clothes that were in the wardrobe, were enough to make him raise a brow.
He pulled out a white long sleeved t-shirt and a pair of black cotton pyjama pants, changing, then placing his clothes on the desk chair and leaving his watch on the desk.
He got into the bed, covering himself with the duvet and massaging his temples with a frown. He stared at the ceiling for a bit, before turning to lie on his side.
He drifted off to sleep with the frown on his face. Sometime later, Anton walked in. He sat on the edge of the bed beside Xander, massaging the spot between Xander's brows which were knit tightly together in a frown. It took even longer today to get him to stop frowning, because the moment Anton removed his finger from that space, it pulled directly into a frown all over again. He pushed Xander's hair back gently with his fingers.
Xander's face had begun relaxing and Anton smiled. He ran his fingers over Xander's hair soothingly, in a steady motion. He stayed there for quite a while doing nothing else but lulling Xander to sleep peacefully and watching him sleep, while his own back remained perfectly straight as though it was the most normal thing in the world, but he didn't once look uncomfortable or on the verge of complaint.
After a while, he stood rather abruptly pulling his hands away, Xander reached out and grabbed the hand Anton had just removed, even though he was still unconscious.
Anton smiled, his smile indecipherable, but pulled Xander's hand away, resting it beside his body on the bed. Xander frowned, although not as deeply as earlier. His frown seemed to come from displeasure this time.
Anton pet Xander's hair a few times then left the room again. Xander rolled over and over, trying to find a 'comfortable position', but he just couldn't seem to find one, even after changing position about 6 times.
After a while he woke up in frustration.
He changed back to his own clothes and headed downstairs.
*
Just like the other day, Anton was seated at the table, pouring glasses of water for both Xander and himself, this time.
"Did you wait long?" Xander asked as he walked in fully dressed and sat at his place on Anton's left.
"No..." Anton told him but said nothing more on the matter. He held his glass to his lips taking a sip of his water.
Xander simply glanced at him and thought nothing of it, however Anton was actually hiding a knowing smile. No matter, because he wiped it off the moment he put the glass of water back down on the table, regaining his graceful, prim and proper demeanour.
"What's for dinner?"
"I don't know." Anton opened the dishes that lay before them.
"Mmm. I'll help myself first if you don't mind." Xander told him, not even waiting to finish his sentence before stuffing his plate with the foods laid out.
Anton didn't stop him. He only took his portion after Xander had gotten his and was already eating. He didn't take as much food as Xander, but he still took quite a lot. Xander must have been starving, because the moment he finished his food, and finished the glass of water, he leaned back in his chair and sighed as though he hadn't eaten in days and finally had the chance to remedy that.
Anton had just finished his food too. "Are you satisfied? I hope you're not too full."
"I'm fine. I had a headache before I went to sleep. And now it's back again. I'm wondering how I was able to sleep so peacefully without waking up." Xander remarked not really expecting an answer.
Anton's face brightened in realization but he said nothing on the matter. He only smiled the same way he always did and began clearing up the table. Like last time. Xander stood to help too, but Anton pushed him back down.
"Sit for a while. So you don't agitate the headache and I think you ate too much. Take a rest. I'll find you medicine for your headache."
Xander raised a brow but said nothing, watching Anton clear the table. The expression on Xander's face was quite indecipherable.
