Chapter 12 - K

"Xander." Anton called, drawing his attention to himself. The intensity of the look he gave Anton was enough to make him pause for a moment before he stood up.

"Please excuse me." Anton turned to the guest with a smile and we walked towards Xander, the look on his face showing he didn't understand the root of his anger.

"You're here, and you're here early." Anton pointed out.

Anton was dressed elegantly as always in a peach coloured airy looking shirt that was buttoned only till it showed his collar bones and the beginning of his chest. It didn't expose too much skin however. He wore light grey slacks as well. His hair was styled with a centre parting, leaving a few bangs by the side of his face, but half of his hair was packed up into a ponytail and tied a second time so it was separated from the remaining half he left down.  He wore black dress shoes, the colour of his pants.

The man seated behind him was a huge contrast, dressed in a dark wine suit and a black button up shirt that was straining to remained buttoned up; not because of muscles but because of his bulging stomach, black slacks and black dress shoes. He wore a silver watch on his left and silver rings covered four of his fingers each. He was very average looking.

One of those very forgettable faces. But he had a thick silver chain around his fat neck.  He looked like he was trying to be one of those sleazy rich men that think they can get anything. But he didn't even look all that rich.

Xander glared at the man, who looked taken aback at being at the receiving end of such a look. Xander didn't care, he dragged Anton behind him and left the lounge, shutting the door with a bang.

Xander dragged Anton into the living room.

"My chair? Seriously?" He asked, frost coating his tone.

"He took the chair before I could even offer him a seat somewhere else." Anton spread his hands helplessly.

"And you couldn't tell him to move?" Xander raised a brow, daring him to give a stupid reply.

"He's my client, I can't just ask him to move over something like sitting on a particular chair, Xander." Anton started massaging the space between his brows towards his nose bridge. Xander watched him for a while seeing that Anton wasn't being dishonest at all and that he really felt helpless.

"Do you even care about yourself?" Xander asked.

"What? What do you mean?" Anton ceased his motions and dropped his hands locking eyes with Xander with brows furrowed in confusion.

"The man there looked like he was on the verge of pouncing on you, he was practically leaning over the edge of the chair. Any more and he might have fallen over." Xander's expression was disinterested as though he didn't care about the topic at all, but his words said otherwise.

"He couldn't have. Besides he didn't do anything to me. Maybe you saw wrong." Anton told him with a smile.

Xander snorted. "I beg to differ, besides the only reason he didn't get to do anything was because I came in."

"Well, even if you're right, I can't just kick him out cause you said so. There's no proof he wanted to do anything to me, so I might as well just finish our meeting."

"Whatever, but I'm coming with." Xander spoke in an indifferent tone, the look on his face nonchalant.

"Why? The meeting won't take long anymore. I was just about to round up. I'll be a proper host to you once the meeting is over." Anton explained.

"I'm coming with. I feel like." Xander turned and walked away, effectively ending the conversation.

The doors of the lounge opened again and the eyes of the man seated inside lit up, but they dimmed again immediately they landed on Xander walking in. The man scoffed but said nothing. Xander paid him no attention either. He sat on the sofa at the left of Anton's chair and Anton walked in immediately.

The man's eyes raked over Anton and he smiled, seemingly politely, but one could guess where his mind was going. Anton didn't pay attention to him.

He gave Xander a gentle smile and sat in his own chair, only then paying attention to the man.

"I'm sorry for the delay. I had to take care of something. Our meeting is relatively concluded anyway. I've explained the designs, you haven't told me what exactly you want though, so I can give you a catalogue of ours for you to check and my explanation should be enough to help you make up your mind." He handed the man the catalogue from earlier, keeping his hand at one edge. The man took the catalogue.

"So, I'd come back for another meeting to show you what I've decided." The man said with a smile.

Xander snorted, looked away from the man and raised a brow instead at Anton wondering how he'd deal with this.

Anton gave Xander a look, but Xander only smirked back at him.

Anton turned back to the client. "There's no need to. You have our app already so you could just scan the code of the designs you want and fill the form. I'll get back to you by mail when I've seen it."

Xander burst out laughing. Anton really was a savage.

"I think it's necessary to have another meeting when I've decided, so you know, we'll plan when and how to go about the renovation. A meeting without disruptions if possible." He emphasized the word 'disruptions' glaring at Xander.

Anton only gave Xander a fleeting look, definitely understanding what the man was getting at but pretending like he didn't.

"It isn't necessary. I only ever meet my clients once. I have facilities in place to ensure I don't have to meet them more than the initial stage. Not out of discourtesy, but because I'm confident my staff can handle the rest." Anton smiled politely. It was obviously not a genuine smile. "Is there anything else sir?"

The man said nothing.

"If there's nothing else, I'll see you out." Anton retained the smile.

Xander on the other hand didn't bother holding his laughter in. He'd long since burst into laughter and he looked like he was trying to breathe. He had never seen Anton this blunt before. And he was still being polite, which made it worse.

Anton ignored Xander's laughter, gesturing towards the door. The client who was embarrassed and didn't know what else to say, stood up and walked ahead. Anton followed behind him.

Meanwhile, Xander was still laughing. "Oh no. I definitely didn't see that coming." He admitted.
