She woke up.
She was on the bare ground. She sat up. She looked around. It was that plain open land.
How had she appeared here? She had no recollection of what happened after she crawled into that hole. It was like all the events after entering the hole had been wiped away from her head. She sat for a moment to think. But she still couldn't remember anything.
She felt a dull pain in her stomach and then she looked down to see that there was a very deep bloody wound there. She must have sustained it while crawling in that hole. There were only very few patches of grass here, and there were none suitable enough to press down on the wound.
She stood up and started walking in the direction where the smell of sunflowers was most prominent. She needed to get to her unit. Soon, she got to a small patch of sunflowers and as she walked further ahead, the number of sunflowers kept increasing.
After a while, she saw a path. This was the path that led to their unit. She didn't need to worry anymore. There were no more problems. All she had to do was walk back to her unit.
...
She stopped in front of the wall. She had gotten here. She had wanted to go in directly, but she remembered that there were a bunch of inhumane demons in there. Even if she came back all beaten and battered, they may still kick her away. But she had no choice. In all of Aysha, she knew noone and could run to noone.
She stood in front of the gate and looked at the guard guarding the gate.
"Please let me in." She begged.
The guard looked at her in astonishment but he soon quickly recovered. If he hadn't seen many things, he wouldn't be a guard. He was a wolf, but the poorest and most unremarkable of wolves because he couldn't even transform. He moved away for her and opened the gate.
She hesitated and walked in. When she came in, she saw that there were only two people on the training ground. So these were the only people who didn't faint? Her arrival drew the attention of everyone present.
Everyone was looking at her in surprise. The two people had been gawking for a while until their back was hit with a whip.
"Focus!" Faye barked.
The general and all the other officials recovered from their initial shock and each of their faces remained with question marks.
How could a normal human have made it out of that place alive? For crying out loud, that was the land of no return. Every animal there was abnormal. Even the smallest animals could even kill a human. And that place was ill-fated. Badluck was a common occurrence there.
The first question to ask would most probably be, how could she have even woken up. In that place, the soil and plants all emitted a poisonous gas. When sniffed in for long periods, one would fall into a coma. So even if there were humans who had the ability to survive, they wouldn't even be able to wake up or fight for their lives. And even if they managed to wake up, they would be weak from poisoning and would be rendered incapable of moving or fighting.
There was a zero chance of survival. How had a mere human scaled through something that could even be considered a threat to low-grade demons.
Arianna felt awkward. She didn't know what to do and they were staring at her making her uneasy. The general spoke first.
"Human go to your dormitory immediately."
As soon as he said it, Arianna ran off in a flash.
"Continue training." He said to the rest of the people there. There was no need to ask any questions. She had done it somehow and it wasn't something that could just be explained.
Arianna entered the dormitory. She took off her clothes that were in tatters and went to the female bathhouse. She grabbed a basin and an ewer. She started bathing. When she was done, she came back to the room and wore her clothes_the one she was given on the ship.
She went to the small infirmary and borrowed some tools. She dressed her wounds and applied ointment on her bruises. She also took a pill for her swollen internal organs. She looked at her skin. It was brutally damaged. There were many holes on her back caused by the hawks pecking at her. Her fingernails were broken from climbing down the mountain. Her face was scratched in numerous spots. Entirely, her body was physically not okay and there was nothing she could do about it.
It didn't matter anyways. Right now, all she needed was rest. Since the general hadn't forced her into training, she decided to rest. She lay on the wooden bed and closed her eyes.
The fatigue washed over her immediately and during this time, she slept like a baby.
At least, for now, when things weren't so difficult, she should enjoy every moment.
