Chereads / Queen Arianna / Chapter 4 - Tristan

Chapter 4 - Tristan

The birds chirped outside. There was a stream not too far away. There was the smell of earth hanging in the air and there seemed to be ash trees not too far away.

His eyes flickered and snapped open. He was on a hard wooden bed in an unknown room.Whoever kept him here must have tried to make him comfortable because there were a few clothes spread on the bed to make it softer but it didn't help much.

He sat up on the bed instantly and stretched in the most abnormal ways possible. His ribs shifted in and out and his spine wriggled and curved before everything relaxed again. His clothes had been changed so it meant... No! He didn't dare think about it. There was a delicious smell coming from outside the door. He didn't know how many days he had blacked out but he knew he was hungry as his stomach grumbled unhappily.

He pulled open the door and saw a loaf of bread and some butter on a table. He rushed at it like a mad dog and started devouring it. The bread was quite stale but it didn't bother him. He was too hungry.

He didn't notice the girl in front of a fireplace until she stood up and cringed. By now he had consumed more than half of the loaf. She looked at him curiously and he stared at her. In a few more seconds, he had finished eating the loaf.

"Uhh..." Arianna started.

"Sit down!" he commanded in a condescending tone. She sat down hurriedly in front of him.

"Speak!" he commanded again. Arianna stared at him secretly. What sort of person was this? Was this the 'thank you' she was looking forward to? She was already dissatisfied with the fact that he had finished the bread she wanted to share with Logan. For Zeus's sake, she had rushed off to the island this morning to bring back his armor and pick fresh vegetables to prepare a good meal. They had told numerous lies to keep him here this long and people were already getting suspicious. Regardless of her mood, she tried to cheer up.

"We found you washed up the shore of an island yesterday. So we brought you back." She explained briefly.

What later happened at the war? His mind was almost a total blank now. "You're a human, why did you help me?"

"Because you needed help." Arianna said.

How come he recovered so quickly? He had been struck with the 'Plague Of Erosion'. He should have slept for two months or more.

"Who is us?" He asked and Logan walked in that moment. He looked at him incredulously.

"Finally he can leave." Logan said sarcastically.

He cast him a look, scoffed and turned to Arianna. "What is your name? Who is he?"

"I'm Arianna. He's Logan, my brother." She replied.

His stomach grumbled again. Gosh! he was still hungry. He looked over their shoulders at the pot of soup boiling. It smelled good. Arianna noticed his uneasiness and stood up. She murmured a quiet warning in Logan's ear and scooped some soup in a bowl. She handed it to the man.

There wasn't any meat in it, but the soup wasn't thin either. There was the flavour of so many vegetables and some tiny pieces of shrimp here and there. It was tasty. Whoever cooked it was good at cooking. He finished the soup quickly and was still hungry but this time he didn't show it.

His mind suddenly flashed with images of the war. The blood, the gore, his fallen soldiers. At that last moment, he called him over, Xavier. He had decided to protect the rest of his soldiers and sent them off to an unknown island. He used his last bit of power to move himself faster through space and time. So he wasn't really sure if this was the past or the future.

Speaking of which, he had to message Xavier to come to him. He needed his help. There were humans around him and he had a thing against humans. He'd never to talk to them normally, he just decided to because he needed to know the current year. What if he and Xavier were not yet friends in this timeline? He couldn't ask them directly so they wouldn't get suspicious.

From their answers it was possible he hadn't gone more than a year back in time. So he closed his eyes and opened his mind trying to connect to Xavier.

Arianna sat at the table with Logan reading a book. She and Logan ate their soup quickly. Logan finished his first and headed out.

Arianna looked at the man with curiosity. He had closed his eyes and seemed to be in a state of trance. She drank her soup more slowly. She needed to get him out of the house before she left. She couldn't just leave him behind and he was wasting her time. She sighed.

After eating, she cleaned up. She washed the three used bowls and laid them out to dry. Since she wasn't going out yet, she thought it'd be good to clean the house.

She started doing so. She arranged the kitchenware, cleaned the furniture, swept the house, cleared every evident frass, dusted the only sculpture, took out the sheets to bath in the sun and so on.

She went on for over an hour while the man sat there in his trance.

When she was done, she sat in front of him and gave him a long hard stare. This man was a big waste of time. She so much wanted to reach out and tap him awake or throw him out but she couldn't and sat rooted to her seat. She placed his armor on the table for him.

Because of the boredom, she started playing with her fingers. And she felt that if she had gone out when Logan had gone, she might have been able to do something important within these two hours the man had wasted. She sighed in derision.

After what seemed like forever, the man slowly opened his eyes. Arianna was shocked to see the golden light which his eyes emitted and at that moment, she felt an excruciatingly painful and towering aura on her. The kind that made her want to bow down and worship him like a King.

King??? Arianna's mind buzzed and she heard his last few words before she fainted.

"I am King Tristan Gayle III of Ramenia. Come with me."
