Chapter 76 - Chapter 76 - A Full Reconciliation

Third person POV

The next day, Albert received the letter from Lloyd and was distraught by it, feeling a lot of shock and shame running through him. Because of this, the king of Lloyd's former home country felt ashamed of causing, both directly and indirectly, the ostracism of the families of Lloyd's childhood friends and the prisoners of war following the raid on Bewote, Wooda. His royal advisers and officials saw his face and asked him what was wrong.

"We…We fucked up…" replied Albert back.

He then showed them the letter, and his royal circle for administration was shocked too.

"Yes, we fucked up, a lot," Albert said to them.

The day after that, 20 families, mostly single parents, left Langton for Wooda due to ostracism because their loved ones had failed their country in the Raid of Bewote. Most of them were blacksmiths and merchants who were successful and well-known. So, without them, most of Langton had lost access to the best weapons and goods available. So, by the fourth and last day of Wooda's Operation Mordecai, Langton's economy suffered big, but not too big. The weapons-making and commerce sectors of the economy are the main sectors that suffered a decline in production and productivity. So much so, Langton had to import weapons, like swords, and some essential goods from Kalelis. Kalelis, however, was disappointed at what Langton did to Wooda, so it, in response, imposed restrictions on imports by the amount and type of goods Langton wanted to import. It also imposed sanctions on Langton as punishment. Langton and its ruling family and court had to accept, paying the full price for their stupid mistakes. Hertzel and his family were displeased by it. while his father and stepmother accepted it, Hertzel wouldn't because of his pride and arrogance, blaming Lloyd for this. Jan, meanwhile, knew what was going on but kept quiet about his visit to Wooda.

So, 3 days of sanctions and diplomatic conflicts followed after the last day of Wooda's Operation Mordecai. The economy entered a gradual slump, and so was the trust of the people, whose livelihoods had been affected by these economic and diplomatic crises. Many of them felt bad for the families whom they ostracized and shunned reflected on their actions and began to send letters of vehement apologies, plus handfuls of gold coins and valuable items as some sort of compensation, trying to gain forgiveness from them and appeasing their possible wants. The latter is because their sin of ostracizing and socially shunning them was too great for mere linear letters of apologies to cover. Some, however, blame each other for getting themselves into that

But then, on the fourth day of Langton's descent to internal and external scrutiny, Albert decided to do one unthinkable thing: reconcile with Lloyd and ask him and his country for forgiveness. When he proposed this to his council of royal advisors, officials, courtiers, and representatives from across the country, his royal council, known as the Central Cabinet, was divided by it. Some disagreed while others agreed so the country would not suffer anymore. But, much to the chagrin of those who disagreed, two-thirds of the Central Cabinet agreed to try to appeal to Wooda for peace and reconciliation. Albert, who also heard from his children about Wooda, Lloyd, and everything, was happy that the Central Cabinet had agreed to his proposal of desperate actions, hoping that Lloyd would forgive him and reconcile with him. So, Albert and the Central Cabinet prepared some consolation money and made preparations to go on a diplomatic trip to Wooda's capital Lewole. Allen and Danica also helped out with the directions to that country, too. But, the two royal children didn't tell Hertzel about this because that hero was too stubborn to swallow his pride and accept reality.
