Chereads / Harry Potter: The New Dark Lord Shelby / Chapter 6 - Ring of Power

Chapter 6 - Ring of Power

Artel was uncertain about who Professor McGonagall was referring to, as the original text didn't seem to mention it. However, he brushed it off and proceeded to ask:

"Sure, Professor McGonagall, do you know the exact time?"

"Tomorrow at twelve o'clock, on Charing Cross Street," Professor McGonagall calculated. Considering the travel time from Birmingham to London, shopping, and the return journey, noon seemed to be the optimal time.

"Alright, I'll be there on time," Artel affirmed.

With Artel's confirmation, Professor McGonagall nodded, took a sip of black tea, and expressed her satisfaction:

"An enjoyable afternoon tea."

"As long as you're enjoying it," Michael responded with a pleased smile. He had also been pondering whether Artel would have the opportunity to attend school. However, Professor McGonagall swiftly vanished, leaving no room for further questions.

"This…"

Michael was momentarily caught off guard, eventually offering a wry smile.

"Jimmy, you'll be driving Artel to London tomorrow. I'm heading to see Big Brother tonight. A wizard from the Shelby family... Birmingham won't be able to hold us back."

"The Shelby family is destined to rise and claim its glory!"

As Michael and Jimmy indulged in these fantasies, Artel shook his head, bidding his uncles farewell before retiring to his room.

His intention was to focus on understanding his newfound "system," as he recalled hearing the term "artifact."

"System?"

Artel mentally attempted to connect with his system.

Subsequently, a light curtain, visible only to him, materialized before him, divided into three segments.

On the first segment, a luminous silver longsword was displayed, embedded in a square stone, exuding an imposing and majestic aura. Inscribed on it was a sentence:

"Only the king can draw this sword from the stone."

The tone of the second segment was notably darker, resembling an abyss. At its center, a cluster of fiery red flames danced. Amid the flames, a dark golden ring fluctuated, emitting a malevolent and terrifying aura.

The third segment was sea blue, as if in an infinite sea, a radiant blue trident gleamed.

Upon seeing these three light curtains, Artel immediately recognized them from the system's database.

The Sword in the Stone, the Ring of Power, and the Trident of the Sea God.

They were references to movies like "The Sword in the Stone," "The Lord of the Rings," and "Pirates of the Caribbean."

Now, Artel was faced with a choice among the three artifacts.

All three of these items symbolized power in their respective stories. The sword represented King Arthur, Ring of Power represented Sauron, and the trident represented Poseidon. However, these weren't mythological items; they came from the movie world.

Considering that Artel was in the Harry Potter world, the most logical choice was clear.

"I choose the Ring of Power!"

Artel made his decision, prompting the middle light curtain to shake vigorously. A dark energy emanated from it, and Artel felt like he heard an intensely angry roar.

"NO!!!"

The voice brimmed with intense hatred. Despite this, a warm current flowed into Artel's body, counteracting the influence of the dark energy.

As the light curtain dissipated, a simple ring appeared before Artel, then gradually faded away.

However, Artel sensed that the ring seemed to be nestled within him, accessible whenever he willed it.

Artifact: Ring of power (Sealed)

Soul-bound.

Introduction: Ring of Power, imbued with the efforts and much of the power of the Demon Lord Sauron, possesses unparalleled might. Note: Sauron's malevolent consciousness has been eradicated, and the Ring of Power is now bound to the host's soul.

Unlocking progress: 5%

Unlocked abilities:

1. Shadow Travel: While wearing Ring of Power, the bearer can enter a shadowy dimension, becoming invisible in the main world.

2. Necromancer: The bearer gains Sauron's exceptional aptitude for magic, particularly in dark and necromantic arts. (Locked)

3. Domination: The bearer's leadership capabilities are greatly enhanced, and they possess a natural persuasion that can sway others to follow or take refuge as Ringwraiths. (Locked)

4. Immortal Being: Infused with the power of Ring of Power, the bearer's lifespan significantly extends, and their soul attains immortality. After physical death, the body can be reconstituted through other means. (Locked)

5. Dark Sovereign: The bearer's magical potency significantly amplifies, granting adept mastery over all dark magics and the ability to control creatures of dark attributes.

Closing the introduction panel, Artel inquired of the system:

"So, the The Ring of power remains sealed, and only the invisibility ability has been unlocked. How can I unseal The Ring of power?"

The system responded in Artel's mind:

"The host's choice of the The Ring of power has triggered your summoning qualification for the Lord of the Rings world!"

"Once a month, the host can summon characters and items freely. Summoning characters and items related to the Lord of the Rings will significantly expedite the unlocking progress."

"Additionally, completing corresponding tasks grants the host world plot points. These plot points enable the purchase of relevant characters or items from the system, expediting the unlocking progress."

Reassured by this information, Artel found it to be quite manageable.

He then glanced at his quest list, noting that a main quest had been activated.

****

[Main Quest: The Path to Supremacy]

[Current Objective: Join Slytherin House!]

Task Overview: Slytherin, often associated with the Dark Lord, doesn't deserve its reputation. Transform Slytherin into the realm of the greatest Dark Lord ever!

[Mission Reward: 100 plot points]

****

Seeing the objective, Artel let out a sigh of relief.

This task didn't seem difficult; in fact, it was quite straightforward. Given his personality, Artel was practically a shoe-in for Slytherin. Even if any complications arose, he could use the The Ring of power to influence the Sorting Hat's decision. Should such quests continue to be this manageable, accumulating plot points would be a breeze.

The The Ring of Power symbolized power, strength, and Sauron's ambition. When Artel chose it, he was already prepared.

Thus, the main thread of the Path to Supremacy resonated with Artel's core desires. He found himself content with this alignment, as it allowed him to accomplish his goals with added assistance.
