Chapter 8 - Azkaban & Guest

"Where's Gollum? Where did he go?"

Artel scanned his surroundings, wondering where Gollum had disappeared to. Unlike the notebook, Gollum hadn't materialized immediately. Artel had no idea where the system had placed him.

If Gollum were to appear in the Muggle world, Artel could only imagine the chaotic consequences. A bizarre humanoid creature, exhibiting erratic behavior and muttering to itself in a gloomy voice, would surely raise eyebrows.

"Smeagol hasn't been summoned yet. The host can choose any location within the wizarding world to place him."

"Please note that Smeagol's storage duration is one month. After the character call is updated, Smeagol will be automatically placed in the vicinity of the host."

The system provided Artel with this information. He sighed with relief and thought for a moment. Ultimately, Gollum didn't seem particularly useful to him in the long run. Furthermore, Hobbits lacked magical abilities, and Gollum's mental state was unstable.

"Place Gollum in Azkaban."

Artel made his choice known.

[Ding!]

"Smeagol has been successfully placed in Azkaban!"

Artel felt satisfied upon hearing the system's confirmation.

However, he couldn't help but ponder the outcome if he were to present Gollum to Harry Potter on his birthday at midnight. The image of Harry encountering Gollum and making a wish came to mind, which amused Artel.

"Too bad Harry Potter isn't in the wizarding world at the moment."

Artel chuckled, realizing the impracticality of such a scenario. He brushed off the idea and decided to retrieve the notebook he had stored earlier.

Though he had been unable to understand the ancient spells previously, Artel's newly unlocked Necromancer ability granted him comprehension.

Artel began studying Saruman's notes, immersing himself in the contents.

....

An isolated island stood amidst the icy waters of the sea, its sheer cliffs supporting a dark castle. This was Azkaban, a well-known place in the wizarding world.

Outside the castle, dementors hovered, their presence heavy and chilling.

Inside a room on the third floor, a creature resembling a house-elf suddenly materialized. Its bulbous eyes emitted a yellow-green hue, contrasting with its sparse hair and grotesque face.

"Where am I?"

The creature, Gollum, crouched low, cautiously assessing the unfamiliar environment.

"This is a conspiracy!"

Gollum's voice shifted, filled with bitterness.

"This is Baggins' doing! The thief! The wretched, shameless thief! He stole our treasure! My precious!"

"Yes, my precious!"

"My darling!"

Gollum's eyes glowed green, radiating an eerie light as he spun around in place, emitting bitter accusations.

"It must be Baggins! He found the Elf and cast a spell, trapping us here!"

Gollum continued his agitated muttering when a woman's form emerged from the shadows in a corner. Her hair was tangled and dirty, her gaze fixed on Gollum, a mixture of disgust and amusement in her eyes.

"This is... remarkable, hahaha."

The woman regarded Gollum, her voice resembling the scrape of a corpse rising from a grave, the sound sending shivers down the spine.

"A house-elf? No..."

She approached Gollum, staring at him intently, her voice darkly resonant.

"Who are you, really? A goblin? A human under a curse?"

"Who's Baggins? What treasure was stolen? How did you end up here?"

Gollum retreated cautiously, his back eventually meeting the cold stone wall of the castle. He hunched low, picked up a sharp pebble, and glared fiercely at the woman.

"It's mine! My precious!"

"Your precious? Hahaha."

The woman's wild laughter echoed as she produced an old wand from somewhere. Pointing it at Gollum, she grinned menacingly, her smile growing more ominous.

"Crucio!"

Gollum's anguished cries resonated through Azkaban alongside Bellatrix's unhinged laughter, all while the man behind the scenes tinkered with magic in the warmth of Shelby Manor Castle.

"Summoned by a novice necromancer!"

"Summon Skeleton Warrior!"

Artel gestured, a pale light flashed, and a skeleton warrior about two meters tall materialized before him.

The skeleton's bones were substantial, its pale hand bones gripping a rusty iron sword and a wooden shield. It was evident that this had once been a formidable warrior in life.

The skeleton's eye sockets emitted a dark green glow, and it stood motionless before Artel.

"Not bad."

Artel nodded approvingly. The skeleton warrior appeared sturdy, certainly more formidable than the usual skeletal soldier.

Artel tested the skeleton warrior, gauging its speed and strength. It surpassed the capabilities of an average person and would likely excel against four or five Muggles simultaneously. Despite the appearance of rusty weaponry, the blade was surprisingly sharp, and the combat potential shouldn't be underestimated.

After the test, Artel dispelled the magic, and the skeleton warrior vanished with a fading echo.

Saruman's notes contained numerous ancient spells, including necromancy. The Necromancer ability impressed Artel, allowing him to understand the magic almost instantly. He had already mastered the low-level undead summoning technique, and he could even cast spells without a wand.

Artel had greater summoning power based on the number of wizards present. If his magical reserves were sufficient, he could potentially summon thousands of these undead creatures at once.

"Beyond skeleton summoning, there are zombies, liches, death knights, bone dragons... This seems straightforward, but my magical reserves are insufficient..."

Artel was astonished by his rapid mastery of necromancy. After briefly studying it, he felt he could summon various undead creatures. However, his magical power was a limiting factor, preventing him from fully exploring these capabilities at the moment.

In addition to necromancy, Saruman's notes contained spells related to holy light magic, natural magic, and elemental magic. Although mastering them wasn't as immediate as necromancy, Artel sensed that he could become proficient with deeper study.

"As expected from the The Ring of Power! Or rather, the influence of the Demon Lord Sauron. After all, the Necromancer ability is attributed to Sauron."

Artel surveyed the time, stowed the notes away, and sighed. It was time to head downstairs for a meal.
