Day 1
-I thought the training was just a suggestion, something quick that Eve planned so that I'll have a different perspective in life.
Well considering how I ran towards a siege of monsters just to save one girl, it was normal for her to think so.
It was hard, but not that hard. It's just simple swinging, nothing more, nothing less.
Morgana didn't visit today, wonder why?
I've started to write in a diary to showcase my progress, well, if there will be in the future.
But what I couldn't understand is how the trainees were capable of training in the middle of winter.
Sure, it was only snowing lightly, but still, do they not get cold?
Day 2
-The instructor already lost interest on me. Though Jack visit's the training grounds from time to time, he always left in a hurry, saying he was busy.
I had no interest on the other trainees my age, what I'm interested at was the older group, where Aenar currently is.
Almost every single one of them were progressing smoothly.
Some were slower than other's, but to my perspective, they were already monster's to begin with.
I came home covered with sweat and my muscles still sore.
'Hahhhhh. I hope this training would end.'
For some reason I feel like I was slowly getting used to this, but still, I wanted this to end quickly.
Day 3
-It didn't. Eve was too convincing. Even when I wanted to refuse and rest the day, she always finds the right words to make me go.
She promised me that If I continue to train for atleast a month, she'll surprise me with something.
I didn't know what she'll surprise me with, but it was enough to convince me.
Aenar sparred once again with Vrasir's child, was it Arnold?
Well, he won again. Not that I doubted him in the first place.
But....why does he seem down for some reason. Is it connected to his guilt a few months ago?
Day 5
-Well, another day to die.
Unlike me, the other trainees my age were already showing their progress.
Today, we sparred. Well, they did.
I was left standing on the corner, with the only thing that joined me was my thoughts.
"Incredible...."
Even at such age, the kids were casting their compatible element's with such mastery that made me speechless. Though their length of casting a spell was half a minute long, they were still capable of fully controlling their respective power.
'If I could do that then....'
My line of thought stopped there.
Whilst they spar, I continued swinging the sword, even when I knew it was all for naught.
Day 10
-I was progressing smoothly to some degree. The first Five days were harder compared to the next because of the soreness of my muscles, but after that, everything became smooth as butter.
Well, compared to the other's, I was like a fish surrounded by sharks.
I only had the power of my muscles while the rest had this powerful essence called mana.
I felt angry today for some reason, I wonder why.
Ohh, maybe it's because I know that even when I train, it was nothing compared to a mage!!!
"Tchh...."
I feel like I'm becoming different than what I used to be. The snow doesn't even bother me anymore, wonder why?
Day 12
-Apparently, Morgana never visited during my training.
'Maybe she's also training on her own way. I hope she's eating well nowadays.'
I went with my normal routine, and that is swinging the sword.
But unlike the previous days, today was different.
The bald instructor made us jog, saying how it's time for us to train our lower muscles, which is our legs, knees and feet.
"Arghhh..."
I already knew that another wave of sore muscles would welcome me once this day is over.
Day 13
-And I was right.
I woke up with my legs overwhelmedwith pain, and though I was already used to it due to my jog from time to time, it still hurts whenever I tripped or accidentally hit it somewhere.
Before I could even leave the house, Eve called for an announcement. A big one.
Apparently, Eve was pregnant. And I, was going to become an older brother.
Aenar was delighted to hear the news, though his gloomy expression were slowly returning to normal, it still cling to him like a lizards hand.
Whilst on the other hand, Jack was on the verge of tears. He would've cried his heart out if Eve didn't calmed him down.
Look's like this family is going to be bigger.
Aenar and I went together towards the grounds after that.
The walk was long and silent, and though his complexion brightened up a little, he still kept this obvious distance between us. Well, I cared the first time, but if he doesn't want to talk then I won't force him anymore.
And I had more problems now compared to the past.
Once we arrived at the training grounds, the bald instructor immediately separated the trainees. Just the same as it was, the older ones on the far left while the younger ones on the right, whilst the middle part was compromised with those who wield unique weapons, like whips and whatnot.
The sword swinging went on for hours, but everyone stopped as soon as the old instructor called for the younger trainees.
He went on a long speech about how impressive we were, well, how impressive the other's were.
It's obvious I wasn't one of those talented people based on how he never bat an eye to my face.
But after that, he suggested something that made me raise my eyebrows. His exact words were; "It's time for you to pick your own weapon!"
I could only furrow my eyebrows after that.
'If we were going to pick our own weapon, why did we train with the sword in the first place!!!You should've done that since the beginning!!!'
As if he could read my mind, he continued his words.
"Some of you might be curious, why now? When you've already trained with the sword, why pick another weapon? Well, there's only one answer." He crossed his hands and straightened his posture.
"That's because we need you to familiarize yourselves on how the sword can be used, you might think differently, but the sword is the most used weapon in the continent, and in your lifetime, there are a lot of people who are good, and also a lot of bad ones out there. So you can think of this as a test run for the future, and in case you want to continue on using the sword. It's good to have a single profession, but it doesn't hurt to have other options."
"hooo...."
I felt the corner of my lips rising.
'He can be smart considering his appearance, I didn't knew it was because of that.'
He's not wrong. Even back in my world, you must know how the opponent moves so that you can think of a way to counter it. Well, learning more things is better than not knowing at all.
"Now! Follow me!"
He turned and head towards the warehouse on the corner of the training grounds.
The trainees looked at each other with both curiosity and excitement in their eyes. It took a second, but before long, the trainees who were seven years and younger, followed one by one.
I, also did, before I was left by myself.
Well, I might not be able to use magic. But there's no rule that says that you can't choose your own weapon without magic.
I couldn't help but get excited.
"My own...weapon.....HEHE..."
It only took a few minutes to reach the warehouse.
It wasn't eye catching. It looked similar to those old cottages on the woods.
Well, that's on the outside. I'm sure the inside would change my mind.
It didn't.
What looked on the outside was the same as the inside.
The floorboards were creaking, and the ceiling had holes the size of my fist.
I sighed, but immediately covered my mouth when the instructor passed by.
The instructor flicked his finger and several crystals lighted on the walls, revealing the large number of weapons in the area.
Some were bigger than the other, but most of it was just the right size for our age. But what I was surprised about was everything was made of metal, not a single one was mae of wood.
'They-They're serious about this, huh.'
Though I never saw Aenar's own weapon except when sparring, he must have chose one in this dinky warehouse too.
'He's probably hiding it in his room.'
Thinking about it, maybe I could get a quick touch on it.
If It was in the past, that is.
Now that I was about to choose my own, Aenar's weapon was now a passing thought.
"The training for today is over! For now, take all your time to choose our weapon, because all of you will have a spar tomorrow..." He glanced at my direction. "...And I mean...all of you."
His eyebrows furrowed. If it was in the past, I would think that he was angry for some reason, but now I know it was just how he looks.
"See you all tomorrow!" He went towards the exit, but stopped before he reached the door, "..ohh! Before I forgot. Please be mindful of the weapons." And so he left, leaving only the two assistants behind who showed a watchful pair of eyes.
As I glanced to the other trainees, who were excitedly chattering with one another, asking each one what kind of weapon they'll choose.
My eyes started to dart left and right, ignoring the voice of the masses.
'How very RPG-like this world is.'
