(It seems like I wasn't as important as I thought.)
After being carried all through the house like the baby I am, unlike Eve, who has the spotlight and is congratulated for giving birth, my day consisted of being passed on like a basketball.
One arm to the other, probably because this world's people were trying to make a unique impression in my early days. Making connections, I guess.
I didn't hate it; it felt awesome to be important—well, second important.
What I liked about it was how each and every single one of them was good-looking. The men were lean, some more muscular than others, but almost all of them looked like Olympic gymnasts.
While the ladies, on the other hand, have model-like faces, as if each of them were perfect since the moment they were born.
Glancing at each of them, a thought passed through my head.
If they were this good-looking, then probably I will be too in the future, my baby hands rubbed my soft chin.
("I could probably be much handsomer than in my previous life; I'm not bragging; after all, my parents here are better looking as well.")
The thought made me grin.
"Whoa, look, the baby's grinning," said a peculiar-looking man with green hair who had much bigger bulging muscles than the rest.
"Look, everyone. I have never seen a baby smile like that." He started pointing at my face with his finger; its size is the same as my arm.
It took me a moment before I could drop my smile, but it was too late before I was surrounded by handsome and beautiful strangers.
I felt my eyes darting in each other's directions, and I felt my head dizzy.
(Too close, this is your fault, greeny.) My eyes began swirling around.
Well, realizing how I was beginning to faint, a familiar-looking person with brown hair finally took hold of me.
"Okay, that's enough for now."
"Urgh, but Jack, it was my turn." A short, orange-haired beauty whimpered.
"No, can't you see my son's overwhelmed by your presence? How about backing a few feet away? Why were you surrounding him in the first place? You never acted like that with Aenar."
(So this is Jack, huh? Why does it sound like his speech is outdated, like how my grandfather talks to me, and who's Aenar?)
With his words, the strangers stepped back yet kept their eyes on me like starving beasts staring at their prey.
Goosebumps ran all over my body.
"Well, we're just curious, that's all." Muscle Greeny placed an arm around Jack. "Unlike your firstborn, this one piques my curiosity, and I'm sure..." He waved his hand towards the other's. "I'm sure all of us here thinks the same, am I right?"
For some reason, everyone nodded along, some crossing their arms together.
"You see?" Greeny showed a menacing smile. "So let's borrow him for a second, okay? Take a break, you earned it." His eyes kept its gaze at me.
(What's this? Scary!)
I glanced back at my now-father, begging for him not to let go of me.
(Please don't...)
Jack sighed and carefully passed me on.
(NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! I DON'T WANT TO!)
Wiggling to break free and trying to escape Greeny's grasp, of course, didn't work, and in an instant, the crowd took me away.
(HELP MEEEEEEEE!!!) I reached for Jack, hoping he understood my intentions, yet he smiled and only gave me a thumbs up.
"Baw bebmer bis!" (I'll remember this!) in baby language; thus, the appearance of Jack and Eve vanished as the crowd surrounded me once again in all directions.
Passing through several rooms, Greeny and four other people carried me away. My eyes widened and my curiosity piqued once again.
(HOW LARGE IS THIS HOUSE?! WE'VE ALREADY PASSED THROUGH FIVE ROOMS!?)
By the time I realized it, we had arrived at a fancy-looking door, giving off a magical vibe. I knew at that moment that whatever lay ahead was something of the utmost importance.
Similar to games that had these large doors and passed that was the last boss? Something like that vibe.
The lady with orange hair, who whimpered earlier, stepped forward. She raised one of her hands in the air, and with a gust of wind, a staff embedded with a jewel on its peak suddenly appeared mid-air.
(WHOA!!! WHAT IS THAT? WHAT IS THAT? A STAFF?! IS SHE GOING TO CAST SOMETHING?! HURRY, HURRY!)
I squirmed from Greeny's arms, trying to get a better view of what the orange lady planned on doing, weaving my head from left to right.
Pushing with all I had, I felt gravity pulling me down.
"Woah"—Greeny caught me before I fell from his arms—careful young one, I'll be in big trouble if I accidentally dropped you."
(Now that I look at it, the floor's too deep; better grab hold.)
I wanted to get away from Greeny as fast as possible, but considering the height difference between Greeny's arms and the floor, falling from this height would probably kill me, right?
(Tch, I'll act like a baby for now.)
I held firmly on Greeny's arm, waiting for the magic to happen, and for a faint moment, I felt a daggering stare pointer right at me, but once I glanced upwards to his face, he only gave me a dumb look and a dumb smile.
(It's probably just my imagination; I'm sure it's nothing.)
Staring back towards the magical door, Orange Haired Lady pointed her staff and muttered, "Bearing the crest of the five, I, Theseria Vailgret, wishes to enter."
With the sound of her voice, the magical door slowly creaked and opened after a few seconds.
A bright flash of light enveloped me whole, a familiar sensation. I squinted and covered myself with my arms, waiting for the light to disappear.
"You can open your eyes now." Greeny's voice entered my ears.
Slowly opening both eyes, I found myself standing, well not exactly, in a large and open countryside, surrounded by flowers and toe-length grasses. Well, I wasn't the one standing, but that doesn't matter at this moment.
(This day is really full of surprises.)
A few feet away, a table engraved with different types of letters was placed, and from how old and worn out it looked, this item had probably been here for several years, or even more, who knows?
Greeny and the others slowly took their steps, closing in on the table, which I hope is also magical.
As we slowly got closer, a faint chill suddenly passed through my body. I felt uneasy, like the time I was entering a room full of people and forcing myself to speak. An interrogation?
Greeny slowly placed me, seated, in the center of the round table. I glanced at him, then at the others.
(What are you trying to do now?)
They stared in my direction with squinted eyes and eyebrows curled with an angry look; each and every single one had a faint resemblance to what my teachers looked like during my school year when they found out I made a mess or something worse. Like I was about to be scolded.
(I have a bad feeling about this.) Sweat sprouted from my back.
"Now, everyone," Greeny eyed each one of the group, I hope all of you already know what we need to do, I presume, and they nodded one by one.
"Yes, leader."
"Good, then..."
For some reason, he stopped his words, his whole body shaking while he faced the grass beneath his feet.
"Let us..."
I swallowed. (Let us?)
"Play... with him." He stared back at me, clenching his jaw while his lips were pointing at me as he smiled.
My jaw dropped. (WHAT....THE...F-)
