"What the hell was that?!!"
There were no words I could use to describe what I just saw, what happened was something that came out directly from a manga, it was MAGIC! PURE MAGIC! Now I know this place isn't earth.
(I reincarnated in another world?!)
Shaking my head, the name of the lady who gave birth to me was finally known.
"She's Eve, huh? Like the first woman?"
As I laid in her arms, my curiosity peaked at its highest. The person who casted such magic raised an eyebrow as he looked at my smiling face.
"Looks like you got a bright child this time. It's only been a few days since this one was born but he's already showing signs of intelligence in his eyes. " He said while rubbing my chin.
Irritated, I went to bite his fingers, just for the fun of it.
"And feisty too." He added after backing his hand away.
"I know, right? By the way, how's business going, Zero?" Eve replied, keeping a solid hold on my body. "From how it looks like, there's a problem by the outskirts?"
So his name is Zero, how strange that he'd receive a number for his identity.
"Well, as you can see, everything's going great. This is the third day the centre's been full. But-" Zero darts his head left and right with a worried face, then goes to ear's length. Whispering something to Eve.
Curious as a baby I had become, I couldn't help but to eavesdrop on their conversation, and by already being near and a baby to boot, it cost little to no effort as I pointed my ears.
"I'm having a bad feeling about this Eve. There's too many people needing healing nowadays, can you check it out for me?"
What the hell am I hearing? Is he hiring Eve?
Just a few days after giving birth and she was already going to work again? Well, I have no idea what her job is but from what it looks like my now-mother had something to do with being an investigator, a detective of some sorts.
If something like this happened in my previous life this is considered illegal, you know? This is plain slavery if you ask me.
I waved my hands, yet Eve didn't give much thought to my presence. As if the conversation was of utmost importance.
"You sure? I've heard that magical beasts are frequent in the outskirts, and it's probably just that? Are you overthinking it?"
"Perhaps? But just to be sure I need someone to search the area, and I know no one is better at that aspect more than you," Zero backs a few steps. "So, will you do it? I'll pay you handsomely."
Eve glanced down at me, having second thoughts about the job.
"Ummm...I don't know. Can I think about it?"
"Ohh absolutely, just be quick about it. The sooner we find out what's happening the faster we can solve this problem."
"Okay....well, I'll give you a heads up, but for now, I need to get this little rascal home." Eve gave a warm smile, started walking towards the far door on our right.
"Say Hi to Jack for me."
"I will."
At that short moment, I felt someone staring daggers at me. And from my past experience of being an introvert, I could already feel where it was coming from.
As I stared back, my eyes caught the sight of a young lady dressed in similar white clothes, like the very one underneath my blanket. With the identical ribbons and designs on her sleeves. We caught each other's gaze and stared at each other for a few several seconds.
She had this peculiar looking long white hair and her eyes were covered with her long bangs, her stare gave me the creeps, and from how little she was, she's probably a few years older than I am.
The longer I looked at her the more intensified my goosebumps became. But then she glances away, her whole face turning like a tomato.
Well, now at least I know she wasn't a ghost, after all, what kind of ghost blushes from a baby's stare.
For some reason, I waved goodbye, sensing how it was the most obvious thing a curious baby would do. Seeing my actions, she smiled brightly and waved as well. Probably happy because someone took notice of her.
"What a weird child." I thought, and I didn't hate it. From my experience, being normal is boring, and If I were to choose between being weird and normal. I'll instantly pick the weirder side every time.
After waving goodbye, Eve saw my actions, stopped herself a moment before exiting.
"What do you know, looks like you already got a friend, you want to play with her later?"
I turned to her face, my eyebrows furrowed, indirectly asking 'how did she arrive at that conclusion?'.
"Ohh don't worry, you'll see each other later. I think her name's Meg.... or something....how about we ask her?"
(WHAT THE HELL?! I THOUGHT WE WERE LEAVING?!)
"Yep, let's go. I'm sure our family can wait a few more minutes, right?" She blinked one of her eyes and acted cute, but from my perspective, it wasn't.
It wasn't at all.
(NOOO!!!!) I screamed inside my head. I can't even introduce myself?! I didn't want to be the type of person who befriends someone with the help of his parents.
(NO! GO BAC-)
Before I realized it we were already in front of the girl, while Eve knelt, my expression immediately stiffened and what remained was a poker face.
"Hello, little lady. I saw you waving to Bane, do you want to be friends with him?" Eve asked in a soft tone, similar to a whisper.
"He-Hello." The girl replied, her eyes fidget underneath her bangs.
"Hmm? WHat's wrong? Don't hide, I don't bite."
What the hell is her problem? It's plain as day she was scared. Even in my previous life there's this saying about don't talk to strangers.
But I think I'll consider this one safe. (Why do I feel like my thoughts were instantly changing? Well, I'll think about it later.)
As I squirmed away, a realization washed again upon my tiny baby brain. Maybe the girl wasn't scared at all, but instead, shy because of her appearance. I've seen many people like this, and most of them lived alone all their life because they were insecure about what they look like. One of those people was me of course.
So to prevent things from escalating, I took a deep breath and went on the initiative, reached for her hand and slowly removed her bangs. Some people might think how smart I was if they saw this very scenery.
Considering my very arms were only pure fat, without a single muscle fibre. It took every strength in my body just to move her hands away from her face.
And once I did, I felt starstruck. Now that I got a closer look, her eyes had a similar colored to a type of tree called sakura, in japan. Glancing at her eyes make's me feel like I was staring at petals.
"Beppy." I tried to say 'pretty' but nonetheless, I think I made my point. And I think they realize it too.
The girl pursed her lips and her whole face turned red once more.
"Hoo....I never knew I gave birth to a player."
(Player, what?!)
What the heck did I do now? I was just showing her that there's no need to feel embarrassed because of how she looks, what did she mean by player? Do games also exist in this world, cause I hope they do.
Returning to the problem at hand, the girl rubbed her bangs, similar to how my niece looks at me when she's asking me for a favour.
"Aren't you...afraid of me?" She looked at my eyes, which by the way, is still wide.
I glanced up to Eve, shaking my head as I gave her a signal in my stead. Luckily, she realize my intentions. Exhaling and giving me a smile of someone impressed.
"Well, I think you're beautiful. Isn't that right, Bane?"
Once again, I raised an eyebrow. I just wanted her to answer 'No' but it seems like Eve was someone who exaggerates things. Well, now that I realize how her actions work, I can now anticipate how she'll think and act in the future.
I nodded my head in response.
"See? Looks like my son has a weird sense of taste , huh?"
(WHAT THE HELL EVE!? WHY DID YOU SAY SOMETHING LIKE THAT!? I'M A BABY FOR HEAVEN"S SAKE!)
I imagined scratching my head, realizing now that I'll probably won't be able to know Eve's thoughts till the end of my life. It's better If I give up now while It's early.
"I-Is that so? Hehe...Hehe." The girl creepily laughed in a low tone. "Umm, can we...be friends?"
I knew something like this would happen. Not that I didn't want to make friends, but I'm a Twenty-Three year old in a baby's body, I'm at least old enough to the point where the word 'friends' holds little to no meaning by now.
And why is she asking me? It's plain as day I can't talk, heck, even if I refuse I already know what Eve would say next.
"Of course you can, isn't that great, Bane?"
(I knew it.)
"Re-Really? YAY!" Jumping on her toes, she held my hand, then once she's done she stared at me directly. "I'm Morgana....Morgana White. From now on we will be friends, till the end of time, okay?"
Looking at her bright and happy expression, my baby mouth sighed and nodded along.
Well, making one friend wouldn't hurt, right?
