"Em, I saw them put the blue top and black bottoms here and I know they're for you," Ashton's voice came through the thin screen, "I know that something's wrong. Let me help."
Emmaline had nowhere to run and nowhere to hide.
She pressed the tattered costume to herself as if they could cover the bra and panties she was in.
"I promise I'll help you and leave," Ashton spoke, his voice sounding even closer.
Ashton Wright's green eyes and handsome face finally appeared at the small gap in the folding screen.
The moment he caught sight of her, his eyes widened and he turned his back to her.
"I'm so sorry, miss," He apologized, "I thought you were my friend."
Something clutched at Emmaline's heart.
He thought of her as a friend and here she was deceiving him.
She had been planning to tell him anyway, right?
But the words stuck in her throat, unable to find their way out.
"Ashton," She whispered at last.
