Chapter 9 - Registering as a Servant (1)

After meeting with Master Xiao Mihwa, he returned to his room to freshen up. The bathroom, while far from modern, exuded a rustic simplicity. Water flowed through bamboo conduits, with fabric serving as a makeshift barrier to regulate its release. A modest bathing tub stood in one corner, not excessively wide but spacious enough for two people. An unconventional ceramic porcelain mirror adorned the wall, its reflective surface not crafted from glass, but still offering a clear likeness.

Ryujin undressed, leaving only the blindfold draped over his eyes. He had discovered earlier in the afternoon that the blindfold remained perpetually pristine, impervious to dust or sweat. With his clothes set aside, he stepped into the bathing tub.

In the serenity of that moment, Ryujin basked in the comfort of his current life. He was unburdened by concerns beyond his relentless pursuit of strength. Despite possessing an ordinary cultivation vein, his journey towards empowerment remained unhindered, courtesy of the steadfast guidance of the system.

Amidst the soothing embrace of the bath's warm water, Ryujin's thoughts turned contemplative. "Could my existence have been misplaced within this world?" It seemed unlikely that things would have been the same. All of this transformation was owed to the guiding presence of the system that aided him.

Then he said" Status" to checked the system status, while enjoying the warm water inside the bathub

Ryujin perused his Status, noting that there were no apparent differences except for the presence of two new skills. Curiosity piqued, he clicked on them one by one, revealing the detailed descriptions of each skill. It dawned on Ryujin that the Nameless Halo section on the blue system panel also exhibited changes—it now displayed the remaining skill usage and a reset timer, ticking down to its initial state. This indicated that time would grant him new skills. For instance, acquiring the Absolute Defense skill required a 13-hour countdown, while Regeneration demanded 24 hours, and the most intriguing of all, Immortality, would take a whole year to unlock.

"Whoa, so the timer refreshes, regenerating a skill based on its designated timeframe!" Ryujin exclaimed with enthusiasm, his eyes gleaming at the prospect of having skills that could be used repeatedly.

"Hmm… I acquired an immortality skill, but why do I still have a lifespan? I thought it should be unlimited?" Ryujin pondered this question, troubled by the lack of a clear description.

He simply ignoring the immortality skill aside and continued to examine the system panel.

As Ryujin experimented with the blue system panel, he discovered he could conceal and reveal more complex details about his abilities. While exploring the mechanics, he inadvertently uncovered another surprise—he had risen from level 1 to level 3. Additionally, there was a captivating option labeled "View All."

"Wait, when did I level up?"

"Clicked!!"

Upon clicking "View All," the Profile Panel transformed, revealing the accumulated Experience points and Ryujin's Power Status.

"My Intelligence is 31 (+1000). If I remember correctly, I gained 20 from mastering Sense. So, did I really have only 11 Intelligence before?" The incredulity in Ryujin's voice was palpable. He couldn't fathom having had such a low Intelligence score earlier. He pondered whether 11 was considered high or low.

"Would removing this blindfold turn me into a fool again?" The mere thought sent shivers down Ryujin's spine. The idea of regressing to a state of ignorance was truly frightening.

Ryujin gradually realized that each time he advanced a level, he would gain 10 status points to distribute among his attributes. Thanks to his blindfold, he had been able to accumulate 100 levels in both Intelligence and Sense. Despite his initial Strength being a meager 12, through mastery, it had surged to 32, and an additional 25 points further propelled it to a formidable 57. His other attributes, though not extraordinary, rested comfortably above mediocrity. When tallying these points, they summed up to a total of 150, excluding any Bonus Points, effectively situating him at level 15. (He Got Status Point in Chapter 8)

However, if one were to aggregate all the status points together, the count would reach a staggering 2306, which could be translated into an equivalent of LEVEL 230. Yet, the imbalance of status points between Intelligence, Sense, and the rest made him wary. Combining all these attributes might lead to a distorted perception of his level, detracting from the authenticity of his strength due to the disproportionate allocation of points.

"Should I allocate my Status Points?" Ryujin pondered, his uncertainty evident as he contemplated the decision. After weighing various considerations, he concluded that it might be wiser to retain them for the time being. With the flexibility to utilize those points when the situation demanded, he felt a sense of reassurance in his choice.

"Hmm, for now, let's keep them aside," he resolved.

As Ryujin immersed himself in the soothing warmth of the bath, the tranquil ambiance was abruptly shattered by a series of knocks at his door.

"Knock! Knock! Young Master, Your Dinner is Ready," a maid's voice chimed as she tapped on the door.

"Yes, please wait a moment," Ryujin responded, standing up and draping a towel around his lower body. He walked over and opened the door.

"Slide!!"

The maid froze in her tracks, her gaze fixed on Ryujin in front of her. After a brief silence, she composed herself and spoke, "Here is your dinner, Young Master," offering a tray laden with food and drink, her expression devoid of emotion.

"Thank you for your hard work, and you don't need to call me 'young master.' I am also a servant, so basically, we are the same," Ryujin said with a smile, extending a sense of camaraderie to the maid.

"No, Young Master. Master has told us about your situation," the maid responded, her voice monotone.

Ryujin could only smile at this, but before he could inquire about the maid's name, she had already left.

"Anyway, what is yo—"

"Excuse me, Young Master," the maid interrupted as she retreated, leaving Ryujin standing there with a bitter smile and thoughts swirling, "Did I do something wrong by any chance to her?"

Ryujin closed the door and placed the food tray on the table, causing him to sneeze suddenly.

"Achoo!!... Sniff... Do I have a cold?" he pondered, rubbing his nose.

Ryujin donned his robe and proceeded to enjoy the meal on the table with gusto, even though it felt incomplete without the presence of a familiar ingredient—Asian MSG.

The maid who had been delivering the food to Ryujin's room found herself stumbling, nearly dropping the tray in her hands. Her cheeks flushed with nervousness as she stood a short distance from the door. It was only her second time encountering Ryujin in person, and despite being a devoted admirer, she maintained her composure, not wanting to draw undue attention to herself. Yet, the unexpected sight before her had flustered her. There stood Ryujin, having just emerged from his bath, with only a towel around his lower body.

"How can someone be so breathtakingly handsome?" her mind raced.

"Hehehehehe!" the maid giggled softly, attempting to regain her composure before walking away, her laughter lingering in the air.
