The routine Mikoto established for Kaiho was no joke. As they resumed their training, Kaiho couldn't help but express his feelings about the demanding schedule.
"So, Mom..."
"Yeah?"
"What exactly is the Omni King?"
Mikoto chuckled, "Omni King, huh? Aren't you interested in your dad? Why don't you ask him yourself when he comes back?"
"Okay."
As they continued their conversation, Kaiho reflected on the training schedule. After 6 hours, he shared his thoughts, "So, it's been a while after the attack. I was hospitalized, and then the lie started. It's not a lie anymore since we are starting to become somewhat of a real family. Then, she started training me."
Kaiho unfolded the timetable: waking up at 4, bathing, and finishing breakfast by 5, studying till 9, eating from 11 to 2, gym, lunch, and physical training again till 6, followed by dinner with the family. "I have to start sleeping at 8. It's kinda hard for a person who is on his phone all day."
Nick's thoughts echoed through the silent moments before sleep, traversing the realms of nostalgia and introspection. As he pondered the fates of Janhvi, Keshav, and Darren on Earth, a subtle melancholy seeped into his musings.
"Watching manhua and anime, I wonder how Janhvi, Keshav, and Darren are doing on Earth. They would probably be fine. Anyway, I kinda do self-talk a lot, right before I sleep. I like to talk to myself. Sometimes, I just... I can't stop thinking about the past."
The bittersweet realization of drifting apart and the inevitability of others moving forward lingered in his thoughts. "They might have thought about me for a couple of weeks and then forgot about me, moved on with their lives. But they would have left either way. Everyone drifts apart someday; we'll go with the flow."
"Hey, Kaiho, are you zoning out? I just gave you a five-minute break, and why are you speaking to yourself?"
"Ahh, you heard that? I thought I was speaking quite low."
"Kid, you are talking to a god."
"Well, there is no privacy in this house, is there?"
"Well, your dad will be home soon. You can ask him what you want."
"Okay."
*Huff, huff, huff.*
"Koshiro?"
"What happened to you?"
"It's just... I am tired."
"How is the Omni king supposed to be tired? Anyway, I have something to ask you."
"Sorry, not now, kid. I have to rest."
"Okay, what was that about? Hey, Mom."
"Yeah."
"Is he giving excuses?"
"No, you won't understand. As Omni king, he has many responsibilities."
"But aren't you gods?"
"Well, even if we are gods, we don't use our powers for ourselves. It's meant to help others and for the greater good."
"But even without the powers, shouldn't you be able to fight for years?"
"Yeah, we can."
"See, time works differently in the god realm. Well, it's quite complicated. For Earth, it's a different time speed, and in the Omni King's office, there are chambers and places in and out of Oasis with different time."
"Huh."
"In some worlds, time works slower in Omni King's palace than in the god realm, and the god's realm's time is slower than Earth's time, etc."
"It might be tens or hundreds of years."
"Wait, that long?"
"Ten years or hundreds are a short period for gods since we are immortal."
"Huh, don't you go like..."
"I know what you're thinking, but having a family really helps and meditation. Thinking about meditation, I should add that to your training."
"What?"
"Yeah, anyways, you should hold your curiosity for a while."
"Yeah, is 8 hours enough for him to recover?"
"Yeah, we are gods after all."
"The next morning."
"Koshiro!"
"Yeah?"
"I have to talk."
"What is it?"
"We need to go on a vacation."
"Sorry, but I can't."
"Huhhh, but why?"
"As you know, I am..."
"The Omni King, etc., bla... bla... bla. I know, but don't you have, like, a life and a family too?"
"You know, because of the recent incidents, I had to take care of Mikoto and you. I took a break, which resulted in piling up of work. I don't think I can do another vacation."
"Okay, bye."
"But huh, he left."
"Kaiho."
"Yeah, Mom?"
"I have an idea. If we can't go on a vacation, we will bring vacation home."
Few hours later...
"I am home. Why are the lights off?"
Suddenly, the lights turn on, and he sees the room decorated with lights, a good smell filling the air.
"So, we thought that you couldn't go on a vacation with us, so we brought the vacation home."
Koshiro is surprised.
"Sir, a table for two," Mikoto says. "Wait, Kaiho, you didn't say I was a part of this too."
"You need to relax too. It's just my way of appreciation."
"Aw."
Kaiho appreciated the effort, "That means a lot."
"So, first up, dinner. I'm not good at making food, so I took Mom's help. I hope you like it."
"Hmm, it tastes good," Kaiho replied.
"I couldn't match Mom's taste, but I tried my best," Mikoto confessed.
With a reassuring smile, Mikoto added, "Kid, with a little bit of practice, you'll get even better than me."
"Yeah," Kaiho nodded, encouraged by Mikoto's words.
"Just to be clear, I'm not good at it, so no complaints."
"Sure, sure," Kaiho agreed.
"So, how do you feel?"
"To be honest, better than Mikoto's massage. She's so strong that she could break my bones in the process," Kaiho chuckled.
"One of my favorites, yawning. Okay, I'm tired, I'll go to sleep, you guys enjoy."
Kaiho goes to sleep, and the sound of punches is heard along with a dialogue, "Mujh pe ek aasan karna, mujh pe koi aasan na karna."
"Koshiro, I didn't know Earth has people with magic power before the incident."
30 minutes later...
"That doesn't make sense."
1 hour later...
"Okay, that breaks the law of physics and many others."
2 hours later...
"I guess it's not so bad. I like the songs."
3 hours later...
"Ah, the ending was nice even if it made little to no sense."
"Good morning, guys. Wait, you're still up?"
Koshiro says, "These movies are addictive."
"Yeah."
Koshiro teased, "Choti bachi ho kya? (Are you a little kid?)"
Mikoto chimed in, "Bade bade deshon mein aaisi choti choti baatein... hoti rehti hai. (In large cities, small things happen.)"
"Hahaha..."
"Huh, what have I created?" Kaiho wondered.
They ended up sleeping late, and Kaiho mused, "I think they are too obsessed with Bollywood and started using dialogues whenever they got the chance. This cringe will kill me."
"The power of movie magic," he chuckled, realizing the impact of their Bollywood marathon.
"Hey, Kaiho."
"Yeah."
"Thanks for all you did yesterday."
"Ah, it's no biggie. It's not even as great as the things you've done for me."
Koshiro expressed his gratitude, "Thanks for saving my life."
Mikoto questioned, "What are you talking about?"
"Eh, ah, nothing," Kaiho quickly deflected.
Koshiro added, "We were just talking about how I saved you from Kirmada. Well, Kaiho, it was actually your mother who saved you."
"Yeah, yeah, I was talking about that, totally," Kaiho nodded in agreement.
Mikoto sensed something amiss, "Why do I feel like you're hiding something from me?"
Koshiro excused himself, "I gotta go, bye."
Mikoto called after him, "Hey, wait! Where did he run off to?"
Kaiho followed suit, "I gotta go, bye."
Mikoto puzzled over their sudden exits, muttering, "Huh, what's up with these two?"
