Chapter 13 - Heart and Home

"Are you certain having us as the pack's leaders is best for them?" As the woman laughed, I questioned

"I believe that your talents present a special chance for your pack. There may never be another battle for your pack. You don't need the same level of protection as other Alphas because you are fuller. With a smile, the woman remarked, "Your pack may attend school and actually have a chance at leading a normal life.

I sighed as Ethan took hold of my hand. "I just feel like I am really young to be an alpha," he said.

She remarked as I leaned against Ethan, "If an alpha wasn't needed, a girl like you would have joined the council because you are a natural leader." After arriving back at the Alpha facility, we continued driving along the coast without stopping. As Benard sped up to the automobiles to welcome the council, we remained in the vehicle.

"Hello, Alicia, what brings you here?" With a smug grin, he inquired. As I exited the vehicle, I pushed open the door and grinned at him.

Missing me? How about my sibling? I quickly snapped my brother into the court yard after me. Better still, how about my partner?

"Leave now. You're done right here. He spat in an effort to use his alpha position to sway me.

I told him, "I think I'll stay; I quite like it here," as Alicia gave him the paperwork releasing him from his alpha role.

"You power-hungry little bitch!" Benard spit at me while I was jogging. I saw him take a swing while remaining cool. I effortlessly avoided it and then quickly removed his feet from under him.

"I would have fled and never returned had you and your beta not chased me down. With the knife my friend made, you attempted to kill me. My brother, who was behind me, heard me snarl.

"My sister has compassion for others. To save me, she sacrificed her life. Even if she technically killed Isabelle, she advised sparing her," Leo said as Benard stood up.

"Your theory has one flaw—she murdered four men in Washington!" Benard spoke bluntly. I spun around and came very close to him.

You assaulted us. You seem incapable of choosing the high road, which I have the right to do, so I'm doing it instead," I retorted before entering the compound with my head held high. The guards bowed their heads and peered at me as if they could sense my alpha position.

I turned to Alicia and said, "Sarah," grinning. "Don't be afraid to call if you need anything. Benard will go with us, and we'll leave you with your pack.

I gave her a quick hug and said, "Thank you for everything you have done for not only my brother and me but also the pack," before leading her out.

"You'll be sorry, Sarah." As the fleet of vehicles accelerated, Benard spat. I snuggled back against Ethan and felt his arms wrap around my waist. My entire body felt warm from his touch.

I sighed as I entered the house to change out of my blood-stained clothes and said, "I better address the pack." I discovered a silver silk gown that fit me perfectly. It had a front split and a plunging neckline. Before heading to the meeting room, I brushed my hair to smooth it out. As the pack trickled in, like they do every night, I stood on the stage.

"Whatever happened to Benard?" The guard questioned me. My heart was racing so loudly when I breathed in that I believed the entire room could hear me.

He and Isabelle attempted to kill a witch in addition to my brother and me, despite the council's explicit instruction. The council has decided that we should both be reinstated with them. My brother is my beta, and I am the new alpha. I firmly remarked to my brother, who was standing next to me, "They stated we were the obvious choice because my brother and I are the Gemini Lycans. His presence brought peace. "I'd like to hear from anyone who has something to say."

Aren't you a threat? I sighed, and one inquired.

I pushed my wrath aside and responded, "No, we never were.

You're too young to be an Alpha, right? One guard was required.

The council stated that I was the best option; therefore, no. They claimed that since we wouldn't need as much security, guards could attend school if they so desired. I remarked to my brother as he gently placed his hand on my back and sensed the wrath swelling within me.

"Why have you invited a witch to stay here?" A female asked from the back.

"He's my partner. I exhaled as he entered the room: "He isn't a threat. I fixed my attention on his gleaming gray eyes. As I stood there, his breath-taking gaze was somehow soothing. The question, "Is there anything else?" I jumped off the stage and sprinted toward Ethan when no one responded. His lips gently caressed mine, igniting every nerve in my body as I encircled him in my arms. My cheeks flushed at the show of sympathy from the public, so I hurriedly withdrew. I loved him, but loving a witch was still frowned upon in my pack.

He continued, "I love you, Sarah," winding me up. "I know this is fast, but it's how I feel." We exchanged long, intense glances while I took a little break. I considered all the possible ways to react to this novel sensation that was surging inside me. I had a notion that this is how love feels—a mixture of exhilaration, excitement, anxiety, and panic. It was the one object that, with just a glimpse, could make someone gasp for air. I have no doubts about my affection for the man standing in front of me.

Before we arrived at the complex, I gasped, "I love you, Ethan West," while pressing my lips to his in a hungry manner. Ethan was right behind me as I hastened up the stairs. We entered my room and secured the door before moving on. I encircled his neck with my arms while stroking my fingers through his hair and drooping my mouth. He unbuttoned my dress, and I exhaled in surprise. We tumbled onto the bed, tangled in each other's arms, as his kisses reached my neck, and I let out a little groan. I was his, and he was mine forever.
