Chapter 19 - 8 Months

I was standing in the nursery, contemplating Daniel. I wasn't sure what I was searching for in our relationship. Even with everything, I couldn't help but think about how much I still cared about Ethan, but the more time I spent with Daniel, the less I cared.

Hey, sis, how are you? I asked as I turned to face Leo.

"Yeah, I just had a thought. I answered with a slight smile, "I find the babies' room to be more conducive to thinking.

He put his palm on my belly and whispered, "Okay." How are my nieces or nephews doing?"

I smirked when I heard the chanting, "They are actively kicking my bladder." A thin veil enveloped the home as I withdrew while peering out the window. When I saw Ethan leading the chorus, I froze.

"Who is it?" you ask. When I turned to face Leo, he asked As the agony of betrayal stretched across my face, tears started to fall. "He would never!" Leo yelled as he ran to the window. When his gaze settled on a smiling Ethan, he abruptly paused.

"Phone Sam!" Knowing that the only people who could assist were the guards inside the home, I gave my orders.

"Why?" I gave Leo a look that said it all as I inquired. "Damn Sarah, using their magic could make you die!"

"Leo, if he comes inside, he'll kill us and put the baby in danger. The time for the birth of these infants has not come yet. I muttered as I descended the stairs. "Daniel, we have serious issues!"

Daniel handed me a revolver and added, "The witches singing outside were a hint. "Climb the stairs and shut the door to your bedroom!"

Daniel grimaced, and I added, "Our only hope is for me to use the infants' power.

"I can't say that I like this, but I don't see a better way." As he approached the window, Daniel sighed. I decided to call him as I was approaching the door. I approached Daniel, grabbed his phone, and started dialing the one number I knew by heart.

"Sarah Ethan said as if they were in danger, "I'm not allowing you to keep the kids among a bunch of mutts.

Don't do this, Ethan. I've learned that worry can kill all three of us if I let it." I pleaded as my eyes began to weep.

"I don't believe you, Sarah!" He lost his cool, so I hung up and went to the window. I lined up the shot and pulled it open. I watched the man I loved chant while my hands were trembling. Despite the fact that I had to shoot him, I was unable to do it since I still loved him despite everything he had done. As the infants kicked vigorously—harder than usual—I gasped.

Daniel, who was seeing my internal conflict, said, "Sarah." I'll complete it.

I sobbed, "I can't do it," as Daniel set up the shot and immediately squeezed the tigger. I observed as the bullet flew through the air, hitting its target as it passed through the barrel. I watched as Daniel was hit by the bullet that Ethan deflected. As I shot the bullet into the wall next to us, I stood there with my hand out as I experienced the full power of the magic. Daniel grabbed me as I gasped and almost fell over. I growled at Ethan, who was grinning and believed he had murdered Daniel.

Daniel pleaded, "Sarah, stop," as I backed away and walked to the door. I gave Daniel one last glance before entering the courtyard.

"STOP!" I snarled as I could feel the magic brewing within me.

"Make me a dog!" While pointing a gun at my head, Ethan hissed.

You're going to shoot me and endanger the children? I froze in awe at how much he could despise me.

He gently pulled the trigger. "They are better off dead," he remarked. I experienced a surge of power as I fired the bullet back at him. The bullet zipped above him as he dove, striking the earth. "You cannot be, no. No, you're not a witch.

I requested that you stop. My entire body began to light up as the power increased, and I snarled. I made an effort to stop, but I could feel my loss of control growing.

Another witch spoke as I glanced up with fear written all over my face. Sarah, we will go; just stop," she murmured. "You must continue!"

I fought to hold it in and sobbed, "I warned you to go," as my body rose off the ground. I can't hold it any longer. As Ethan stood there staring at me, I yelled. Daniel was standing in front of me when I heard the front door open.

Sarah, you're up for it. I looked at Daniel, and he responded, "You can handle this.

I screamed, "I can't," as the skin on my left arm began to magically appear.

"Consider your brother and pack. "Keep the kids in mind," Daniel urged me.

"How are you doing?" He turned to face me as I gasped.

As I closed my eyes and imagined my family, Daniel mumbled, "If it helps, think of me, Sarah," as I sensed the power waning. Daniel supported my weight as I slid into his arms. "I love you, Sarah," were the last words I heard before passing out.

Leo and Daniel were by my bedside when I awoke in my bedroom.

Daniel sighed with relief and said, "Thank God. I sat up and peered down at my belly.

"Are the infants all right?" Leo nodded, and I inquired.

Leo remarked, "I still hear two heartbeats," as I gazed into Daniel's golden eyes. He sat on the bed, and I exhaled.

Daniel gave me a short hug and muttered, "I'm glad you're okay, boss," before he sprinted out of the room. I followed him, wondering whether I had actually heard him declare his love for me.

Sarah: "Damn it, don't scare me like that again!" Leo shouted, jolting me out of my reverie.

I pulled him into a hug and whispered, "I'm sorry, I won't," as I was contemplating Daniel. He was giving me conflicting signals, which made me want him but feel indecisive. I fear I'm losing my guard...
