There had been no communication from Ethan for more than two months. I was already displaying a lot, and the kids were growing faster than I had anticipated.
Leo added, "Sarah, we have to get ready for the councils' ball tonight," as I took off the silk lavender pregnant dress. I put it on, loving that it wasn't your average dress; the low back and fabric that fell to my knees gave me the appearance of a seductive mother. I picked up my crown with the knowledge that it would be extremely formal. My brother was waiting for me at my door after I had brushed my hair and put on the crown.
Do I seem overweight? I questioned myself, unsure of myself.
Leo made a funny face as he said, "No, you look pregnant," as we descended the stairs and entered the ballroom. As we entered the party, I inhaled and put a smile on my face. As we moved, Leo drew me to the dance floor. I searched the area but didn't recognize anyone.
I said, "So tonight I'm being honored," as he laughed once again.
He answered, "As you should," and motioned for me to sit at the table. I put my hand on my bloated stomach because the kids seemed to be soothing me. I grinned as I saw Sam and his coven coming my way.
I squealed, "Sam," as he embraced me.
When Alicia entered the room, Sam exclaimed, "You look great this evening, Sarah. As she began to talk, the chitchat stopped.
"We are here tonight to honor one guy. a young woman of seventeen who prioritized the needs of her pack before her own. She demonstrates to us what leadership entails. Come on up, Sarah!" Alicia yelled. I approached the stage while wearing a phantom smile. My cheeks started to burn with shame as she gave me a hug. My eyes landed on a gray set in the front row, and I instantly stopped moving.
I screamed, "Ethan," as he stood with rage evident in his eyes. Before entering the stage, he remained there for a while.
I said, "You lied to me!" He hissed as I retreated, my heart filled with wrath.
"I warned you that we needed to talk. I didn't want the babies to keep us together after you departed, either. As the rest of the room observed our very public drama, I lost my temper. What brought you here?
Before his eyes caught my teary eyes, he replied, "I was ordered to attend by the head of the coven."
I exclaimed, "You broke me, Ethan, without a second thought," as Leo approached. While glaring at Ethan, he placed his arm on my back.
You killed her, even though she was your mate. Ethan remained there, unmoving, as Leo hissed.
How could you abandon me after promising to look out for me? He kept glaring at me as I gasped, tears streaming down my cheeks.
"How could you put the children at risk for a bunch of mutts?" I winced when he snapped.
"Ethan, if they are mutts, what am I?" The room went eerily silent, as I sternly requested. "What about our kids if you can't accept them? Half Lycan will be in our offspring.
"Our children are different, and you know it!" While I crossed my arms, Ethan yelled.
I questioned Ethan, not really wanting to know why he made the knife.
He said, "It was the only thing that could keep Lycan strength down," without thinking. As I stared at the man I supposedly knew, tears began to well up in my eyes.
Who are you? "Not the man I fell for, this one. The person I loved would never have referred to the individuals in this room as monsters. You may now depart. Leo grabbed Ethan's arm and dragged him out of the room as I growled.
Daniel whispered softly, "Sarah," as I collected myself and turned to face him. Do you think you'll be alright?
"I'm good; I'm sorry that everyone had to witness this, but..." I gasped, suppressing my sorrow. As the embryos kicked inside my womb, I grinned. You desire to feel
Daniel responded, "Sure," as I moved his hand softly to my midsection. As they kicked once more, his eyes widened in disbelief. They kick more violently than my infant did.
"Really?" He nodded and then pulled his hand away as I questioned him.
Leo approached me and called out, "Sarah." "I led him off our property."
I grinned and said, "Thank you, Leo," as we left the stage.
"Sis, you might want to get some rest. Leo observed with concern in his purple eyes, "You seem fatigued. The room started to swirl as I shook my head. My legs gave out, and I dropped into Daniel's arms.
Daniel grabbed me and said, "Sarah!" "Leo, help me." As they placed me on the platform, I felt Leo put his arms around my legs.
Leo cried out, "Sis!" and added, "Hold on, I'll get some help."
"Leo, help! I'm scared!" As he called the witch I had been seeing, I gasped. To calm me down, Daniel took hold of my hand. I turned to look around and saw the group staring at us. After an out-in-the-open altercation with a witch, the council didn't seem happy about my pregnancy getting in the way so quickly.
"Come quickly; my sister just passed out!" Leo hung up angrily and said, Leo turned to face me, petting his head as I started to cry. My infants had to be safe. After everything we've been through, I can't lose them either.
Daniel said, Leo, you are in charge now," grabbing Leo's attention. Keep your composure for the pack.
Leo stated as Daniel gazed at him, "But she's my family, my only family left."
"I won't let her go." When Sam rushed into the room and came right to us, Daniel said
"What happened?" you ask. Sam asked as everyone turned to face one another and seemed unsure of what had occurred.
Leo responded, "I wish I knew," as I understood how much I actually had to lose right now.
