While I was standing in front of the window and taking in the serene morning, all I could think about was the argument I had with Ethan. Contrary to what he said, he actually left me alone. He promised to always be my protector, but then abandoned me.
Leo softly muttered, "Sarah," from the doorway.
"What?" I questioned him without even trying to look at him.
Leo informed me that "Ethan has been spotted with his former coven," which made my eyes well up with tears. He loathed them for passing judgment on them, but he is now back to aiding them.
I said, "Leave him be," firmly, maintaining my voice's level and showing no signs of weakness.
Leo responded, Sure, sis," and closed the door behind him. As I thought about the lives of my children, I gasped and touched my belly. In the hopes that he would still take my calls, I called Ethan.
"What?!" As he spoke, he roared, taking my breath away. As he spoke, the hatred was evident.
"Please return. I muttered, trying to maintain my composure, "Ethan, we need to talk about this. "You walked away without even discussing this."
Why would I extend the same courtesy to you after you killed our child without speaking to me? He became angry when I started crying. He was unaware that the infant or babies in this instance were fine.
"Ethan I adore you so much, but it appears as though I never intended a thing for you. I spoke while feeling anguish in my voice. I gasped as I noticed the babies moving in my stomach, seemingly in response to my feelings.
You didn't mean anything, so don't call again; I'm sure of it. As he hung up, he spat. I gasped as I fell to the ground and felt pain throughout my body. I was never loved, he claimed. He claimed that I was worthless even though I had given him everything I had, even my life. I took out my phone and called a local witch I was familiar with. More than anyone else, I was going to require magical assistance throughout this pregnancy.
"Hello, this is Sam," the man stated with a smile.
"Hello, my name is Sarah, and I'm the leader of the local Lycan pack. My unborn child will be half witch. I continued, my pulse pounding with anxiety, "I was wondering if you could fill me in on the things I need to know."
I'll come over to find out additional information. Are you currently free? He queried.
I murmured, Yes, just tell the guards you are here to see the babies," and I hung up. I hastily fixed my hair after rising from the ground. Ethan appeared on my phone screen when I looked at it. Before descending the stairs and entering the spacious living room, I locked my phone and threw it on the bed.
Leo told me, "Sarah, there's a man here for the kids," as he pointed out the man to me. I extended my hand and gave him a hard shake.
I said, "Hi," as he continued to look at me for a few seconds as if he were trying to identify me.
He exclaimed, "Your her," as I flushed. "Ethan mentioned you to our coven."
I begged you not to tell him about the kids as tears filled my eyes.
I looked at Sam, and he responded, "Fine, but word like this spreads very rapidly.
"I'm having the next set of Gemini, and they have witches in them now," I gasped. "I didn't know what to expect."
I am unable to read them. Sam spread his fingers across my belly and murmured, "It's like you aren't pregnant. I believe it to be a defense trigger. They wouldn't have been concealed if you didn't need to combat them.
So becoming a Lycan made them fearful? I said this as I considered Ethan. I wanted him to be here, but I also understood that he had to want me to come without the kids.
Is there anything else I should be aware of? I wiped back my tears and asked softly. I experienced a wave of nausea. I exhaled while holding it back.
"Take care. I was leaning against the wall when Sam replied, "They have magic already that you can tap into. I'll come back to see how you are doing in a few months.
I said, "Okay," as I led him to the door.
"More people will arrive if I can sense this much strength, too. Your kids will be at greater risk, he warned as he walked out the door and sped off in his automobile. I approached Leo and walked right into his open arms, letting him center me.
He said, "I'll protect my family," and I closed my eyes. I wished beyond hope that this was Ethan, but it wasn't.
I sobbed, "I love him," as he hugged me. The fact that I was carrying his children made it so much worse since they serve as a continual reminder of the suffering he has given me.
"I know, sister, I know," he hushed as he let me sob about everything wrong with my life in addition to the sorrow that Ethan had created. I hurriedly put it together before going outside. As I made my way across the courtyard and down the street, the chilly air nibbled at my bare arms. The trees' leaves had changed to a stunning shade of red. The leaves changed as if they were aware that we had lost a lot of blood. I passed a playground where three kids were having fun. Their laughter brings to mind my own kids. They were chasing each other around the jungle gym while squealing.
I muttered, "Ethan, come back to me," as a tear streamed down my cheek. Before moving on down the street, I hurriedly reached up and wiped it away. I observed happy families, but all they did was serve as a reminder of what I never had—and what my children really deserve—a happy family. How would my own father feel about grandchildren that are identical to me? He didn't even care about my brother and me. I realized how alone I was as I made my way back to the compound. Ethan completely abandoned me.
