May 29, 2021 - Saturday - 3:00 P.M.
3rd POV
The Shokugeki is currently underway. Riku and Momo have began the early preparations, which include gathering the necessary items from the pantry.
Erina and Alice returned to their seats to watch the Shokugeki. They were still perplexed as to why Riku had not shown his talent as a baker.
Erina: Animal bread...this will test their creative skills to the limit.
Alice: Not only in the design of the bread must be a hit for women and children alike, but also the flavor profile. Knowing Momo-senpai, she's going for something cute.
Erina: Agreed. I wonder what nii-sama will make.
After many minutes in the pantry, the two bakers returned with the items they had chosen. The students glanced at Riku's ingredients and were surprised by the amount of green in the basket.
Student 1: That's a lot of vegetables!
Student 2: Does vegetables go well with bread?
Student 3: What kind of animal will he make with that?
Momo, who was looking at Riku's ingredients, did not appear to be phased. When they placed the baskets on the counter, they began baking.
Everyone was mesmerized as they see Momo, braiding the dough that she made with utmost precision.
Megumi: Incredible...she's doing a 5 strand braid method.
Erina: Not just a normal 5 strand braid method, Tadokoro-san.
Megumi: Nakiri-san? What do you mean by that?
Erina: Akanegakubo-senpai is doing something else. Look closely.
Megumi and her friends look closer at Momo's work and they noticed that she was braiding much more than the usual 5 strands.
Yuki: That many?!
Ryoko: If I count it clearly...there's at least...twenty!
Alice: If I'm gonna guess...she's planning to create a dragon.
Everyone heard Alice's words and they were shocked. They expect a cute themed bread for Momo, but they didn't expect that she would go for a more intimidating one like a dragon.
Takumi: But looking at Nagae-san's side...
Isami: It looks like a forest out there...
Soma: All his stuff is green...I can tell that he's planning to do a green bread.
Megumi: Green bread? You mean it's gonna be green in the inside Soma-kun?
Kokoro: Nope! It'll be green on the outside too!
The students turned around to see who said it and it was Kokoro along with Rinko and Riku's other childhood friends.
Erina: Kokoro-nee! What are you doing here?!
Kokoro: We came here along with onii-chan! He asked the staff if it was okay for us to come with him and they said that it was fine.
Chisato: Dojima-san told us to come here as it isn't a good view just to watch from behind, so here we are.
Alice: I see. But with the question though. As far as we know, there is no way to bake a bread that's green on the outside right?
Erina: Agreed. When you bake bread, the exterior becomes brown. A steamed bun may be feasible. But other than that. I do not know. But why did you suggest that it would be green on the exterior, Kokoro-nee?
Kokoro: Because we saw onii-chan do it last night!
Soma: Say, did Riku use glucose syrup by any chance?
Kokoro: He did. That was one of the ingredients that he needed.
Soma grinned like a madman as he already figured it out.
Megumi: Soma-kun, you know something?
Soma: I do. But I won't tell you what.
Takumi: Come now Yukihira! Don't leave us hanging!
Rinko: Yukihira-san said that because it'll ruin the surprise.
Kaoru: So what he means is that you just need to see what comes next.
As they talked, the two bakers finished the last touches on their bread before putting them in the oven. Now it's a waiting game.
A few minutes later...
Ryoko: This is so intense...I never expect a bake-off can be this intense...
Rinko: With Riku's career on the line...there is no room for error.
Yuki: Um...who are you?
Rinko: Ah yes. I'm Shirokane Rinko. I'm Riku's childhood friend, just like him I'm also a musician...a pianist to be exact.
Yuki stood up from her chair as she pointed at Rinko.
Yuki: Ah! You're the one who hugged Iku from behind at Stockholm!
Rinko blushed deep red as she remembered that moment. It wasn't her fault per se, she did it without even thinking In the first place.
Rinko: P-Please don't remind me of that...
Chisato: Please don't tease Rinko-chan like that. She's the type who doesn't take teasing very well.
Yuki: Ah...sorry.
Rinko: None taken.
Then, all of a sudden, the banquet hall's main entrance opened, and five men and a little girl with pink hair and a blue dress, as well as a girl with red hair and a black dress with green trimmings, entered.
Chisato: Johan-san? And...Satori-san?
Student 1: Who are they?
Student 2: Who's the little girl?
The little girl notice Rinko and the others as she and the red haired girl went to them.
Satori: So you're here as well.
Rinko: Satori-san, why are you here?
Satori: I've got some matters here, I've brought Orin here for good measure.
Orin: Good to see you again nya~
(A/N: Kaenbyou Rin will be called Orin from here on out, because Hoshizora Rin is already in the story.)
Megumi: Um...they are?
Ran: Komeiji Satori. Matriarch of the Komeiji Family...also a part of the Celestial Families. The one behind her is Kaenbyou Rin, her attendant.
Soma: And who are the 5 guys right there?
Chisato: They're Riku's band mates...his band...OG.
Everyone's eyes turned their attention to the boys that just entered the banquet hall.
Yuki: I can't believe it...OG right in front of my eyes...
Soma: So they're Riku's band...
Rinko: Johan-san, why are you and the boys here?
Johan: Miss Satori insisted that we follow her. And since we finish practice much earlier than expected, we have a lot of free time. What's going on here anyway?
Chisato explained the details of the Shokugeki to Johan, including what's at stake.
Johan: I understand. Well if Riku accepted it, then he knows what he's doing. Riku doesn't take fights that he won't lose or get something from it.
Johan looked at Riku and shouted so he could hear him.
Johan: RIKU! YOU CAN DO THIS! STOP THINKING ABOUT WINNING AND FOCUS WHAT'S IN FRONT OF YOU!
Riku who was just staring at his oven heard his brother and gave him a thumbs up.
Momo: You seem to trust them that much.
Riku: I do...they are my brothers, after all. When everyone told me I was done, they were the only ones who believed in me. I had a rough start in my first year as a pro, and they were important in shaping me into the person I am now.
Momo: I want to ask. Why did you reject the director's offer?
Riku: Because I love music much more than baking, simple as that. I simply use baking as a means to escape.
Momo: Escape? From what?
Riku: The route to become a professional musician is not simple. The scheduling of events, travel fees, frequent jetlags, and the fact that you have to perform in front of thousands of people every week are all mentally exhausting. And being the vocalist last year brought a lot of stress to my life...so I bake as a way to relax. To relieve some of the stress I've acquired. To calm me down and prevent me from going nuts. And when I finish baking and my bandmates try what I made, the grin on their faces as they eat a delicious piece of pastry is enough for me.
Momo started to understand Riku's reason. Riku had to go through all of that despite being young, which that alone made her respect Riku a bit.
Few minutes later...Momo finally takes out her bread out of the oven...by ripping the paws of her stuffed animal.
Riku(thoughts): Pretty handy...at the same time...poor cat...
When Momo took out the bread from the oven, it glowed a light orange glow. When the glow dimmed down, in the tray was a bread that is a shape of an elongated dragon with glistening scales.
Takumi: Incredible! That's a perfect dragon!
Alice: The crystalline sparkle comes from marmalade...the marmalade is enhancing the dragon's gleam...
Erina: This...is art in it finest...in bread form...this is the first time I've seen this in my life...
Megumi: How will Nagae-kun beat that?
Satori: Look at Riku and ask yourself. Does that look like a face of someone who is ready to give up?
They looked at Riku and they see him staring at his oven with a very determined face.
Sanzaemon: Truly magnificent...in terms of design...this is full marks across the board. Now Riku...how about yours?
Soma: Momo-senpai has already put out hers...what's taking him so long?
Riku: Not yet...just a bit more...
Everyone was thinking why is Riku's bread take a bit longer to bake. But one person has already figured it out.
Sanzaemon(thoughts): Riku...if you're doing what I'm thinking...then you really put out a huge gamble...
Few minutes later, Riku finally opened the oven as the bread that Riku made lets out a bright green glow.
When the light dimmed down, in Riku's tray is a little green turtle with stubby legs, black beady eyes and its shell has a darkish yellow outline.
Everyone couldn't believe their eyes to what they see. Especially the more gifted chefs.
Erina: What in the...
Alice: How is that possible?
Megumi: It's like...
Soma: Magic...
Sanzaemon: HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! AS EXPECTED FROM YOU RIKU! YOU NEVER FAIL TO AMAZE ME!
Sanzaemon was laughing as he looked through Riku's bread. This was the first time he's seen such bread in his life.
Sanzaemon: With this, the baking is finished. Now it's the time to judge. I will swear to this. I will not show any bias in the judging of this Shokugeki.
Riku and Momo nodded as Sanzaemon begins to judge the appearance of both bread.
Sazaemon: Magnificent...truly magnificent...in my life on earth, this is the first time I've seen such bread of this level. The sculpturing of the dragon, and the turtle's coloring...both display world-level technique and ingenuity! In the design concept, I will give them both a perfect score!
The students are shocked that someone without a culinary expertise forced a draw with Tōtsuki's top artisans in design. Some, however, some of them hoped that Riku will make a mistake with the taste concept.
Erina: He tied up with Momo-senpai.
Soma: But now comes the hard part.
Sanzaemon: Now we go for the flavor concept of the bread. I will go for Akanegakubo first, since she finished earlier than Riku. Is that fine?
Riku merely nodded as Sanzaemon nibbled into Momo's bread. And all of a sudden, the upper part of his yukata collapsed, revealing his powerful torso despite his age. The band girls, particularly Chisato, Rinko, and Ran, hid their eyes in embarrassment, but they realized that the students were thrilled by it.
Sanzaemon: The orange marmalade spread over the surface is just slightly burnt, effecting a rich acidity and sweetness within its mild tartness! And beneath the braided scales there are bittersweet chocolates in between them! Chocolate and Oranges are eminently compatible! This is an animal bread that even a grown adult can enjoy to the fullest! A taste that ascends to the heavens!
Student 1: There it is! The director's infamous Strip!
Student 2: And a high praise from the director...
Chisato: He judges them...by stripping?!
Erina: It's a shameful act, but yes. Ojii-sama expresses on how delicious the food is by stripping. And to how fast ojii-sama stripped down his yukata, shows how good Momo-senpai's bread is.
Student 3: As expected from an Elite Ten member...
Student 4: How can we compete to that?
Riku can sense the sight of defeat from the students as he looked at them with a disgusted look.
Riku: Pathetic. I gave you all that encouragement yesterday, and you can't back it up just because Momo here produced world-class bread? If you have such an attitude, you should leave Tōtsuki and pursue another career.
He said that to the students with no remorse. Everyone was surprised at Riku especially Sanzaemon and the Nakiri cousins when they heard him making that statement without sugarcoating it. And that made some of them angry.
Student 1: And who are you to judge?! You're just a lowly musician that performs to the commoners! You should just give up! You're no match to Momo-senpai!
???: Oi. Why are you looking down on nii?
The person who spoke negatively about Riku looked at Kokoro, who was emitting a very black aura and stared at him with eyes that had lost their glow as if she were dead, and she was speaking to him in a tone that made everyone scared.
???: Why are you saying that to nii? He did nothing to you, he was just stating facts right?
Erina: K-Kokoro-nee?
Alice: No...that's not Kokoro-nee-sama...
Rinko: What's happening to Kokoro-chan?!
Satori has an answer, but she decided not to talk as Kokoro slowly approached the man.
???: Why are you judging nii that low? Is it because he ain't a chef like you? Because he plays for the people and not for the so called stuck-up elites like you?
Ran: I don't like where this is going...
Kaoru: Me too. This is the first time I've seen Kokoro with this much...darkness...
Kokoro reached the man as he stumbled down back to his seat. Kokoro was looking down on him with a very menacing stare.
???: I know. How about I wreck your life? I could use my name as a Tsurumaki and target your family and everyone else who is tied to you. That way, I can see you suffer. I can take everything away from you for talking to nii in that manner. Yes, that's it...let's do it...show me your despair...despair over all you've lost...
Everyone was starting to get afraid as Satori is about to take out a spell card to stop her. But Riku stepped in to calm her down.
Riku: KOKORO!
Kokoro turned her attention to Riku who was looking at her with a disappointed face. Seeing that, made Kokoro faint, and right on time, Orin caught her before she fell to the ground.
Orin: Gotcha nya~
Erina: W-What was that?
Chisato: I don't know...this is the first time I've seen Kokoro-chan act like that.
Satori stepped forward as she signaled Gin to throw a microphone to her. Gin complied as he threw his and Satori caught it.
Satori: What occurred just now should never be spoken again. I use my position as matriarch of the Komeiji Family to issue a gag order. Everyone in this area is not allowed to discuss what happened to Tsurumaki Kokoro for the rest of their lives. If word spreads, the rest of the Celestial Families will take action against those who defied the command. Are we clear about that?
Satori announced in a tone of heavy authority. Everyone has no choice but to nod in agreement. Satori returned the mic to Gin as she looked at Orin,
Satori: Orin. Take the young Tsurumaki to her room.
Kaoru: I'll go with you. I can guide you there. And I'm her friend, so it's natural for me to be by her side. Ani-sama, I'm afraid that I have to miss this moment.
Riku: Go. Kokoro will be happy if she has you by her side.
Kaoru left with Orin as they go back to their room. Satori sighed as she apologized to Sanzaemon.
Satori: Apologies Sanzaemon-dono for the ruckus. I will give you the further details at a later time. For now, you have judging to finish.
Sanzaemon: Agreed. Now let's resume the judging.
Sanzaemon went to Riku's station as he looked closely to his bread.
Sanzaemon: As I thought. Riku, you used ultra-low-temperature long period baking right?
Riku: You noticed it the moment it came out of the oven?
Sanzaemon: No. I noticed it right away when Akanegakubo took out hers first. You're playing a gamble right here Riku.
Yuki: Ultra-low-temperature long period baking? What's that?
Alice: I've read about those. Normally, sweet breads like Riku-nii-sama just made are typically baked between 200 and 220 degrees. Naturally, the outer surface toasts to a brown color. However, if you set the oven to an ultra-low temperature of 150 or so, the bread will not toast. The pure green dough will come through as-is, without browning. And the low temp means you have to bake it much longer.
Takumi: So that's why he said "Not yet...just a bit more..." Now it makes sense.
Megumi: But how come we haven't heard of such a method of baking.
Erina: Because of the risks.
Megumi: Risks?
Erina: Hisako, explain.
Hisako: Hai. The risks of ultra-low-temperature long period baking is the flavor factor. Baking it for a long period of time makes it dry and tasteless. That's why nobody does it. Because they are aware of the risks.
Rinko and the band girls as well as OG heard some of the students were snickering at Riku's method in baking, luckily Kokoro wasn't there. Rinko wanted to say something, but Johan put his hand on her shoulder and just shook his head that says "They're not worth it" and Rinko just nodded.
Takumi: But why did he use that method in the first place? If the bread is dry and tasteless, he loses this Shokugeki and will retire from music completely.
Soma: I agree with Takumi. But look at him, I can tell that he has something up in his sleeves.
Sanzaemon(thoughts): He used this method to retain this bright hue. This technique lowers moisture, guaranteeing a loss of taste. I know that there's more to it. And this is Riku we're talking, he's not the one who will make a rash decision from out of nowhere.
Sanzaemon ignored his thoughts as he chewed off Riku's bread from the head. Sanzaemon stood still for a few seconds, causing alarm among the students. Erina and Alice were set to see their grandfather, however...
Riku: Don't. Be prepared...something is gonna happen.
Riku's statements couldn't be true since, at that moment, Sanzaemon's garments fell to the floor, showing his complete muscular figure in all its splendor, leaving him in only his fundoshi without moving.
Student 3: H-He stripped!
Student 4: And he did it without moving an inch!
Student 5: Not just the top half, but his entire clothes were stripped down!
Takumi: Then that means...
Erina: He beat Momo-senpai?
As they were giving their reactions to what they see, Sanzaemon began laughing in joy.
Sanzaemon: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! UNBELIEVABLE! Normally ultra-low-temperature long period baking results in vividly colored bread like this because the surface doesn't brown and the dough's color is maintained.
Riku: Yup. That was the plan from the start.
Sanzaemon: But, due to the long baking time, it lowers moisture, giving it a dry mouthfeel, and yet...this bread is tender and juicy on the inside!
This made the students do a collective gasp. They're aware that Riku's bread is supposed to be dry and tasteless, but how can he retain It's moist despite of it.
Sanzaemon: Riku, you used glucose syrup didn't you?
At the old man's words, Riku let out a maniacal grin as he pointed out the key ingredient to his bread.
Riku: You hit it right in the head old man.
Soma: I knew it!
Takumi: You expected this Yukihira?!
Soma: Riku might give us some explanation.
Sanzaemon: How did you come up with such an idea?
Riku: Simple really. It was a year before I left Japan to hone my skills as a musician, there was one local festival that Yuyuko-san took me and at that time, a vendor gave me a leftover candied apple. The candied apple was old since it was leftovers, but the apple inside was still juicy. So I thought to myself that if the apples don't dry up if you covered them in syrup, how about we try it in bread.
EVERYONE: HE THOUGHT OF IT JUST LIKE THAT?!
Soma: HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! INCREDIBLE! Nakiri-tachi!
Erina and Alice looked at Soma who was laughing his heart out.
Soma: You got an interesting big brother right there. Guess I gotta step up if I don't want to disappoint him.
Soma passion has increased to a new level. Just by this Shokugeki alone, Soma wants to try his hands on baking.
Sanzaemon: THE MATCH HAS BEEN DECIDED! THE WINNER, NAGAE RIKU!
Everyone just gasped at the sudden announcement of the winner. But their shocked turned to confusion as Sanzaemon continued.
Sanzaemon: Is my instinctive answer. But Akanegakubo's bread was no less excellent. Therefore, I call this match a-
Momo: It's my loss.
Everyone looked at Momo who just announced her surrender.
Student 2: Momo-senpai...
Student 3: She admitted defeat?
Takumi: But why? The director was about to call this a tie...so why?
Momo just said nothing as she makes her way to Riku.
Momo: Nagae Riku.
Riku: Yes?
Momo: Can I be you disciple?
Riku: Eh?
Sanzaemon: Hm?
Erina: Eh?
Alice: Ara?
OG: Eh?
Everyone: EHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH?!
Megumi: D-D-Did I hear that right?
Ryoko: I think I heard it loud and clear. Akanegakubo Momo. An Elite Ten member wants to be Riku's disciple.
Riku: Can I ask why?
Momo: All my life, I only became a patissier because I thought pastries and sweets were cute...but...
Riku: But?
Momo: Because what you did just now made me understand something...I realized that I still have a lot to learn...I know I was confident in sweets, but I'm also confident in my talents as an artisan. But you taught me that there's more to cute things, and it made me understand how far I had to go. That is why...I want to learn from the greatest, from someone who has innovative ideas that go above the standard. So I ask again: may I be your disciple? If you accept, this will be considered my loss.
Everyone was waiting for Riku's answer. Momo has given her honest answer and wants to further her skills as a baker under Riku's wing. Riku looked at Momo as he closed his eyes.
Riku: You understand that if I accept this, it will be your loss. The Celestial Families will gain control of Tōtsuki.
Momo: Yes.
Riku: That fire in your eyes. I can see the drive in you. Despite the defeat, you get up and try again...very well, I accept.
Riku and Momo looked at Sanzaemon and just nodded.
Sanzaemon: Very well. Nagae Riku wins this Shokugeki! And, starting immediately, the Celestial Families will have the last word on all academy affairs. In order for the Elite Ten's projects to be authorized, at least half of the Celestial Families must give their permission. And Riku may still pursue his musical career!
And before the students start wallowing in despair, Riku assures them that the Celestial Families will not control the school entirely.
Riku: Do not worry we will not make any major changes. We'll only participate in some of the school's programs. And as for the Elite Ten, while certain of your initiatives may require our approval, your burden will be reduced by a certain amount, so you won't have to worry about paperwork anymore.
To RIku's words, Momo and surprisingly Erina slumped down as if something was taken off of them.
Momo: Thank goodness...I guess losing has something good in it after all. I think Tsukasa-san is gonna like this.
Erina: Satori-sama, is that okay?
Satori: Just don't put it all on us. We'll only take care at least 30% of the work load.
Erina: That is more than enough.
Riku: Now that's settled. Sanzaemon-dono, you have one more thing to say right?
Sanzaemon: You read my mind. *Ahem* Now before you go, I want to add something. The one who called out Riku, you're expelled.
The student who called Riku out and was threatened by Kokoro earlier was beyond shocked. He survived the training camp from hell and now he was expelled out of the blue.
Student 1: Wait, how am I expelled?! I survived the training camp right?!
Sanzaemon: You did survive, but I chose this approach because you called out Riku. Remember that the Nagae are one of Tōtsuki's major shareholders. And yet, you termed him a lousy musician irrespective all his honors is something that I cannot slide. In Tōtsuki, it is unacceptable to discriminate against individuals with common backgrounds. You're free to go.
Sanzaemon snapped his fingers and two staff members showed up as they dragged the expelled student away along with his belongings that was outside the hall.
Sanzaemon: Now then...onto other matters. This can be considered as a reward to all of you. For the rest of the weekend, you are to enjoy the entirety of the Tōtsuki Resort. Everything is on us. However, you are to return to the academy at 5 P.M. tomorrow.
To Sanzaemon's words, the hall was loud with cheer. First they get to taste the food that their alumni made, and now they get to spend the rest of the weekend without worrying a thing.
Sanzaemon: I'm glad you like the reward, but there's more. Riku, if you may.
Sanzaemon gave the microphone to Riku as he makes an important announcement.
Riku: Continuing the old man, I have an announcement to make. Tomorrow, 3:00 P.M. at the Tōtsuki Resort Performance Hall, me and OG will be performing.
Erina/Alice: Eh?
Yuki: Are you for real?! We get to see Iku perform?!
Takumi: Well this is unexpected.
Isami: Nii-chan, we get to see what the customers meant back then.
Takumi: You're right.
Riku: It's up to you if you want to go or not. But...once you get there, I will show you what I had to go through for the past 5 years. Take care of things here old man. I need to check on Kokoro.
Sanzaemon: Hm. You're free to go.
Riku: Momo, since you're an Elite Ten member, you can leave the school premise whenever you like right?
Momo nodded and Riku gave her a card.
Riku: I'll be at that place every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Be there at 4:30 P.M. and I'll teach you.
Riku got down of the stage as he signaled the girls to follow him back to their room. OG soon followed because Riku already said what they came for, and Satori went to Sanzaemon.
Satori: I received your call. What do you want from the Komeiji?

Tōtsuki Resort – 8th Floor – Kokoro's Room – 5:30 P.M.
Riku POV
After the Shougeki, me and the girls head back into our room to check on Kokoro. Johan and the others left us as they want to spend their free time to their selves and we let them do their thing.
We reached our room, Kokoro's room to be precise. We opened the door and we see Kokoro is already up with Kaoru holding her hand. Kokoro looked at me as she avoided my gaze with sad eyes.
Kokoro: Onii-chan...
Riku: Kokoro. It's okay.
Kokoro: It's not okay. I let you down...how can I be your little sister if I let you down...I let my control of my magic slip up.
Rinko: Wait, Kokoro-chan can use magic as well?
Ran: Well that's unexpected.
Chisato: Okay that's one theory down. But how do you explain what happened to her earlier on?
Riku: Get yourselves a seat. I think that you girls deserve to know.
The girls grabbed a seat as I explained Kokoro's situation.
Riku: Similar to me, Kokoro can use magic. Light and dark magic to be exact.
Ran: Light and dark...two polar opposites...I think that gave away her dark attitude. But there is a twist right?
Riku: Yes. When Kokoro displayed her power at the age of eight, she created a second personality to match her dark magic. But don't worry, Kokoro is rather special. Her light (default) and dark sides get along well. But her dark side will only emerge when someone she cares about is threatened.
Chisato: In her case, you.
Kokoro: Onii-chan, I've heard that those students were talking down to you. I know you taught me not to talk back, but you told them about your accomplishments with pride, and they simply spit on it. They call you lesser and lowly, and my heart can't handle it. Then Shinzo snapped and took control.(A/N: That's the name I gave to Kokoro's Dark Side)
Kokoro was shedding tears and Riku just held her hand gently as he looked at her with a caring smile.
Riku: I see. Then can I talk to Shinzo for a moment? Don't worry, I won't do anything bad.
Kokoro only nodded as she closed her eyes. After a few seconds, the atmosphere around Kokoro changed as she looked at me with very dead eyes. Yup it's Shinzo alright.
Riku: It's been a while since I saw you...Shinzo.
Shinzo: Nii...about what happened...
Riku: Stop. It's not entirely your fault.
Shinzo: But they wouldn't shut up. They're throwing your name in the mud, despite knowing that you're a Nagae. I don't like that nii's reputation is being stained just like that.
Riku: Thank you for showing your concern Shinzo, but I would ask for you to hold back okay? If they do it again, then you're free to do whatever you want. Just don't go overboard okay?
Shinzo: I...I'll try...nii...can I get a headpat please?
I just said nothing as I pat Shinzo's head and she started to purr like a cat.
Shinzo: Thank you for that nii...i'm giving back the control to Kokoro...
Riku: Alright, take care Shinzo. Try to come out from time to time.
Shinzo: I'll ask Kokoro if it's okay later.
Just like that, Shinzo returned the control of the body to Kokoro as her eyes returned to its usual bright smile.
Kokoro: Onii-chan...I-
Riku: Everything's okay Kokoro. How about I make you those cream puffs to cheer you up?
Kokoro: I would love to. Can I help?
Riku: I think that the girls want an explanation right now. You have my permission.
I walked out of the room as I head to the kitchen to make some cream puffs for Kokoro.
Kokoro POV
When onii-chan left the room, the other girls are waiting for me to explain what happened.
Kokoro: Since onii-chan gave me permission, I can show you what I can do with my light magic.
I formed a small light orb from my hand, I pushed it lightly towards them and the girls were amazed.
Rinko: Wow...it's bright...and warm.
Rinko approached the orb as she felt the warmth coming from it.
Chisato: Can you do anything else?
Kokoro: Well, I can do this.
I concentrated as the light orb slowly transforms into a little bird flying around the room.
Kaoru: Incredible...Kokoro, aside from your light magic, what can your dark side do?
I tried to ask Shinzo if I can use some of her magic, and she agreed to it. I reached out my hand and a dark aura was creeping out of my arm. The girls were taking a step back in seeing it.
Kokoro: Don't worry. I can handle this. Good thing Shinzo gave me the green light to use her magic. So anyway, I can use dark magic like this.
The darkness in my arm started to stretch out as it grabbed the notepad on the table by the other side.
Ran: Quite handy. I thought that dark magic was...you know...
Kokoro: Onii-chan and Patchy-sensei taught me that the wielder is what makes the magic wicked, not the magic itself. So, rather than utilizing dark magic to harm others, I use it to protect. How can I make everyone happy if I use my magic to harm them, right?
The girls nodded as they heard my explanation, Kaoru went to hug me and she patted my head. It's not as good as onii-chan's but it's comforting nonetheless. I gave Kaoru a bright smile as thanks.
Kokoro: Thank you Kaoru.
Kaoru: Don't mention it. Now, I feel that there is much to talk about. Hm?
Kaoru appeared to hear something at the window as she went there to check what was outside. As Kaoru opened the window, a bird flew into the room and settled on the table in front of me.
Chisato: What is that?
Kokoro: It's onii-chan's messenger hawk.
I ruffled to its feathers as the hawk seems to look at it, and as it makes eye contact with Ran, the hawk squawked.
*squawk*
Ran: One of these days...I swear...
Rinko: Did something happen Ran?
Ran: That hawk tried to rip my hair once when I was still hanging out with Nii-san; luckily, Nii-san was there to stop it before I went bald.
Rinko: But why a messenger hawk? I mean we have phones and all.
Kokoro: Onii-chan stated that mails or phone calls can sometimes be easily hacked, thus the Celestial Families employ this whenever a vital information is being sent.
I took the letter from the container that is strapped on it's back.
Kokoro: I got the letter. Don't worry, I'll give it to onii-chan later and I won't read what's inside.
The hawk nodded as it flew away to the open window.
Chisato: How did the hawk understand you?
Kokoro: The Ibaraki Family trains their hawks very well. Once completely trained and capable of understanding human speech, they are assigned to each household.
Rinko: What're you gonna do with the letter?
Kokoro: Give it to onii-chan of course.
I got up of the bed as I head to the kitchen to give the letter to onii-chan and he's already put the pastries in the oven.
Riku: So, you're good now?
Kokoro: Hai. Anyway, here you go onii-chan. Your messenger hawk was here a while ago and gave that to me.
Riku: I know Ankh is very fond of you but...he could've sent it directly to me, he could've knocked by the window. Let's see what Ankh sent me?
Onii-chan began reading the letter, and his face began to exhibit signs of concern; he folded the letter and placed it in his pocket.
Kokoro: Is something wrong?
Riku: The letter contains some information that is needed to be discussed with Sanzaemon-dono. I'm gonna set up a meeting with him and Erina later tonight.
Kokoro: Anyway, what are you gonna use for the filling for the cream puffs?
Riku: Good question...do you want to be my guinea pig for this?
Onii-chan asked me with a smile on his face as I slowly step back and shook my head. And after that I bolted out of the kitchen to avoid onii-chan's crazy experiments.
Riku POV
Riku: Guess that I'll just go with the regular vanilla custard...how about I add it with lemon zest...that could work.
Thanks to Kokoro's idea, I started to make the filling for the cream puffs and add some zest for some extra flavor.
After waiting for 20-30 minutes, I pulled the pastries out of the oven and was pleased with how golden brown they were. After cooling it down a little, I began filling them with lemon custard. After filling at least 50 cream puffs, which I went slightly over with, I put them in a bowl and headed to the living room.
Riku: Sorry for the wait. Here are my cream puffs. Enjoy.
I put the cream puffs on the table, everyone grabbed a piece and took a bite, and by the looks on their faces, they really enjoy it. I took a piece and tried it for myself.
Riku(whisper): Damn, so close. It could've been perfect if I took it a second earlier.
Ran and Chisato seemed to hear what I say as they looked at me, then we heard a knock on the door.
Riku: Now who could it be this time?
I went to the door and opened it and it was Gin-san.
Riku: Gin-san? What are you doing here?
Gin: Ah that. I was just making rounds in this floor to make sure that there are no complaints here.
Riku: Okay...Gin-san, if you don't mind, can I set up a meeting at your office tonight?
Gin: I don't mind, but what for?
I just gave the letter that I got from Kokoro to him. And has he read the letter, he looked at me wit ha very angry face.
Gin: Riku...if what this letter says is true...this is a huge disgrace to the Nakiri.
Riku: I know. That's why I want you to set up a meeting with all Nakiri members present here. I sent a message to Joichiro-san earlier, and he'll be coming here before the appointed time.
Gin: You called Joichiro?
Riku: Yes, and he has a huge part in this as well. Set up the meeting at 9.
Gin: Very well, I'll tell the director and the two girls. Shall I call Yukihira Soma as well?
Riku: Sure why not. I want to see his smug face get shattered once he knows his old man's background. And he has a role in this too.
Gin: Sadist much? Okay, I'll call in him as well. But in the meantime, enjoy your stay. And I can't wait for your performance tomorrow.
Riku: Don't worry, you won't be disappointed.
Gin-san nodded as he departed to check the other rooms. I closed the door as I returned to the living room and noticed that the dish of cream puffs, which had at least 50 pieces, only had at least 5 remaining. I looked at the girls to see who the perpetrator was, and they pointed to Kokoro, who had a lot of cream on her face.
Riku: I left you girls for a short while...give me a paper towel will ya?
Ran passed me the paper towel and I wiped the cream off of Kokoro. After I took off the cream, she was just smiling at me, and I just sighed.
Riku: Try to hold back in eating those okay? But at least you left some for me.
Kokoro: We were planning to leave some for you but , it was too good.
Chisato: So, who was knocking on the door just now?
Riku: It was Gin-san. He was doing rounds to see if there are complaints in this floor. And later tonight, if you're looking for me, I'll be at Gin-san's office. I have an appointment with him. So in the meantime, we've got ourselves some free time.
Kokoro: Then onii-chan, can I fight you in a danmaku battle?
Riku: I beg your pardon?
Everyone looked at me and Kokoro as she suggested that me and her should do a danmaku battle.
Riku: How's your progress in your flight magic then? You know flight is the standard for a danmaku battle right?
Kokoro: I've been practicing it for 2 years now. Marisa-sensei is keeping me in check.
Riku: If Marisa is the one teaching you...fine. Let me make a call for a minute.
Kaoru: Who are you calling?
I said nothing as I picked up my phone and called Sanzaemon-dono.
Riku: I'm asking Sanzaemon-dono if he has a vacant area outside where we can have our danmaku battle. Hello. Sorry I called you this time. I would like to ask if there's a vacant area outside. You do? Great. Alright, thanks.
I ended the call and looked at Kokoro.
Riku: Well you got your wish, get changed and we'll go to an open field that Sanzaemon-dono told me to go.
Kokoro bolted straight to her room as she gets changed. Rinko and the others were concerned as I'm gonna fight Kokoro.
Chisato: Are you sure it's okay Riku?
Riku: What? Fighting Kokoro in a danmaku battle? She'll pretty much pester me about it till I agree, so I just gave her what she wanted.
Rinko: But...she could get hurt.
Riku: No worries. A danmaku battle is perfectly safe. The danmaku we use every battle is always non-lethal, though it'll still hurt. And besides, how can I deny Kokoro's debut.
Kaoru: Debut? So this will be her first fight? And she's facing you with an undefeated record?
Riku: Some of those matches were very close calls...especially the last two.
Ran: Would you like to tell us?
Riku: Another time Ran. Kokoro is already ready and waiting.
Kokoro already finished changing from her casual clothes to her school tracksuit.
Riku: You brought your tracksuit too?
Kokoro: I mean I want to bring my battle gear but this is more than enough.
Riku: Okay, let's go.
Tōtsuki Resort Open Field - 6:30 P.M.
We've reached the field that Sanzaemon-dono told me and I gotta say, it's wide and quite far away from the resort.
Riku: This is the perfect spot for our fight. And sorry to waste your time Satori-san.
Satori-san is with us to make sure that nothing bad happens during our fight. Orin is with us also to help.
Satori: Don't be. The young Tsurumaki is about to experience her first danmaku battle. It's normal for a family head to act. Girls, get beside me and Orin. Riku, Kokoro, get into positions.
The girls went straight to Satori-san's side while me and Kokoro make our distance as we go to our places. As we're at our respective sides, Satori-san explains the rules of the fight.
Satori: This danmaku battle will use a 3-spell card format. Each of you will have three layers of barrier around you, and you will only be able to utilize three spell cards. You have the option of using duplicate spells, defensive spells, or crowd control. When a spell card hits you directly, a barrier breaks and the person who cast the spell gains a point. Avoid a spell card for one point; avoid the spell card but just graze it for no points on either side. All danmaku and spell cards will be marked as non-lethal. Whoever has the most points after all spell cards are used, the first to shatter all of their opponent's barriers, or when all spell cards are used and the points are tied, the person with the most barriers left wins. Are we clear about this?
Riku/Kokoro: HAI!
Satori: Very well then.
Satori-san snapped her fingers and 3 barriers appeared around us and vanished.
Satori: Now, take flight. And on my mark, the battle begins.
Me and Kokoro casted our flight spell as we began hovering off the ground until we reached a certain point in the air.
Kokoro: I always wanted to do this onii-chan! Let's have a great fight!
Riku: I could say the same to you. You do have your battle intro right?
Kokoro: Hai!
Ran: They're pretty high up.
Kaoru: Good luck Kokoro...and be careful.
Rinko: It seems that they're ready Satori-san.
Satori: Alright. The danmaku battle between Nagae Riku vs Tsurumaki Kokoro will now begin. Fighters...Set!
I deploy my magic circle behind me and so does Kokoro.
Kokoro: Happy! Lucky! Smile! YAY! Tsurumaki Kokoro Sanjou!
Riku: So that's your battle intro...fitting. Calamity will soon befall you...I hope you've come prepared.
I adjusted my hat as I covered myself in lightning. Satori looked at me and Kokoro one last time as she raised her hand.
Satori: Ready...FIGHT!
(Insert OST - Greenwich Debris)
At Satori-san's signal, I didn't hesitate to release my bullets, which flew directly for her. Kokoro dodges the bullets with perfect time thanks to her instinct. But I had a gimmick in my bullet pattern; I snapped my fingers, and the bullets Kokoro evaded began to break apart, with some of them heading for her.
Kokoro: WHOA!
Kokoro completed a backflip in midair to avoid the approaching bullets, spotted a little gap, and launched her counterattack. Two gigantic spheres alongside her begin to fire a large number of bullets in a circular manner; I learned the pattern and begin to avoid. I looked at Kokoro, who was smiling...wait a minute...My instincts kicked in, and I dove down as three bright lasers nearly hit me.
I looked to the direction where the laser came from, and it was one of the small light orbs that Kokoro used.
Riku(thoughts): She thought of it that much huh? Very well, time for the-
Kokoro: Light Sign: "Purifying Circle"!
Kokoro took out a yellow spell card and casted her spell before me. And I was wondering where her spell is coming from. I looked left and right, even above...don't tell me-
Without knowing it, I was engulfed by a huge pillar of light coming from below and my barrier shattered.
Satori: That's two points to Kokoro.
I heard Satori-san mention that Kokoro received two points. That spell was that strong?! I was surprised to learn that Kokoro had a spell that can break two barriers at once. I, Yuugi, Suika, Marisa, Reimu, Yuuka-san, Yukari-san, Yohrihime, Toyohime, and Meiling-san are the only ones capable of breaking many barriers at once. Very well, I will respond in kind. I took out a black spell card and prepared my naginata, then began covering it with lightning.
Riku: Thunder Sign: "Origin of Thunder"!
I summoned 20 additional naginatas, and they began to fly in all directions, heading for Kokoro. Two naginatas were coming at her 3 and 12 at fast speeds, but she managed to barely evade them. But she didn't anticipate a few to come from below and breach her barrier.
Satori: A point to Riku.
So the opening exchange goes 1-2 in favor of Kokoro. I need to step it up. I maneuvered around Kokoro, unloading a hail of bullets at her from all angles. Surely she can't avoid this. But then I felt a cold feeling, and I sensed Kokoro's aura had changed...wait, Shinzo is in control!
Darkness surrounded Shinzo and several dark arms started deflecting the incoming bullets and dodged most of the strays.
Riku: So it's your turn now Shinzo?
Shinzo: That was the plan to begin with. Kokoro will deal with the first bout and I'll take you on for the second. I won't hold back nii. Phantom: "Ravaging Claw"!
A black magic circle emerged beneath me, and a fuck ton of dark claws surrounded me and were charging straight at me. I attempt to sidestep as much as can, but the circle beneath me hampers my reflexes. I ended up using my scarf to deflect all of them while avoiding the remaining claws.
Shinzo: Tch. I thought I had you there.
Riku: You almost had me there not gonna lie. If the claws were a bit faster, then I would have no time to dodge.
Satori: Riku dodged the spell. The point goes to him.
So I'm at 2-2 and I manage to catch up. Let's widen the gap. I took out a violet spell card and it formed into a bow and arrow.
Riku: Moon and Thunder: "Celestial Rain"!
I directed the arrow at the sky and released it. Thousands of lightning-covered arrows began to rain down on Shinzo, who dodged left and right furiously. The number of arrows has grown because it is nighttime, which is to my benefit. Kokoro appears exhausted after casting the spell. I believe Shinzo tagged out early.
Satori: No point is given to either.
So we didn't earn any points. That shows she was able to dodge, but she just got grazed, therefore the barrier did not break. Well, not for long. As I launched my signature spell, I hurried up to Kokoro, giving her no breathing room.
Kokoro: Eh?
Riku: Sorry about this. Fish Sign: "Dragonfish Drill"!
My scarf began to wrap around my right arm, transforming into a drill that covered itself in lightning before ramming it into Kokoro, swiftly breaking her remaining defenses. Fuck! I used too much power!
Kokoro: AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Riku: Shit!
Kokoro crashed down to the ground and Orin rushed to her side to see if she's okay.
Satori: The battle has been decided. Winner, Nagae Riku!
RIku: Gotta check to see if she's okay.
I flew down as I head to Kokoro's crash site. Rinko and the others followed Satori as well as they head to the crash.
Riku: How is she Orin?
Orin: She's OK, no harm done at all nya~. However, certain parts of her body had bruises from your previous spell. You used too much power to the drill. Do not tell me you forgot to hold back.
Riku: I might've forgotten...but I'm glad that she's okay...
Orin: I'm gonna give her some ointment once we get back.
Riku: Thanks...so, how's your first fight?
Kokoro was resting on the grass, staring at the sky. I sat by her while Kokoro explained her emotions over her first danmaku match.
Kokoro: It kinda hurts that I lost. But I don't mind. I get to enjoy what a danmaku battle is, especially it's against you!
Riku: I'm delighted you're not feeling depressed over the loss. And it's very fantastic how you converted your light bullets into laser bullets. And I apologize about the previous spell card; I used too much power, and you were harmed.
Kokoro: Guess I have a lot to work on. And it's okay onii-chan. I can't learn if I don't get hurt right?
Rinko: Riku! Kokoro-chan!
Me and Kokoro see that Satori-san is heading towards us along with Rinko and the others.
Riku: Yo. So, what can you say about our fight?
Chisato: This is the first time I see an actual danmaku battle. It was...mesmerizing to say the least. The bullet patterns are like a light show if you watch it from below.
Ran: To think that Kokoro got a hit on you.
Riku: Yeah, my barrier usually gets struck in the second bout, but this is the first time it has been broken in the first. And the fact that Kokoro managed to break two of my barriers in a single spell is something to be proud of. Only a select handful are capable of accomplishing such feats.
Ran: So Kokoro has the potential?
Riku: Pretty much. But she needs to train more if she wants to keep up.
Kaoru: Is Kokoro alright?
Riku: Orin said that she's just tired and a few bruises.
Orin: I would like to add that you mustn't move too much for the next 3 days.
Riku: That means no crazy stuff till you recover, okay?
Kokoro: Okay.
Satori: Now, I would like to congratulate Kokoro for her danmaku battle debut and for Riku's 57th win in a row. You just need to win at least 43 more-
Riku: And I get the right to challenge one of the family heads.
Rinko: There was a rule like that?
Riku: Yup. But that will be a story for another time.
I carried Kokoro on my back as I looked at the girls.
Riku: Now let's head back and get something to eat. Fighting in a danmaku battle makes me hungry.
Rinko: That's a good idea and all but...what are we gonna do to this?
We looked at the field as it's entirely covered in craters.
Chisato: Do all danmaku battle always end like this?
Satori: Pretty much. But not all of them. Let me handle this.
Satori-san snapped her fingers as a huge red magic circle appeared below her and we could see that the field is slowly turning back the way it was before.
Satori: Now that's done, let's go eat. Using a lot of magic power made me hungry.
Satori-san went ahead first while the girls were awed at the sight of the field getting fixed in no time flat.
Timeskip....
Tōtsuki Resort - Gin's Office - 8:45 P.M.
3rd POV
After Riku and Kokoro's danmaku battle, Riku and the girls went to the dining room and ate dinner. The meal went over without a hitch, with the exception of a few folks who were familiar with Riku's musical career and wanted autographs. And, of course, Riku can't ignore his fans' calls.
After the brief signing session, Riku informed the girls that he had an appointment at 9 p.m. and that they could relax without waiting for him, and he asked Kaoru and Chisato to keep a watch on Kokoro because Orin had warned them that she was not allowed to move much due to the bruises on her body.
Riku is in Gin's office with Sanzaemon, who is waiting for the other guests to arrive. Riku is seated on the sofa, eating cake, while Sanzaemon uses Gin's desk and drinks tea, and Gin is on the director's side.
The door opened and it was Soma who arrived.
Soma: Eto...I was told that I have to come here. Looks like you have another gues-
Sanzaemon: No. We called you here because this meeting concerns you as well.
Soma just hummed to Snazaemon's words and took a seat beside Riku.
Soma: So, who are we still waiting for?
Riku: 3 more people Soma. They'll be here any moment now.
True to Riku's words the door opened and Erina and Alice showed up.
Soma: Yo Nakiri-tachi!
Erina: Yukihira-kun?!
Alice: What brought you here?
Soma: Well your grandfather called me to come here. He said that this has something to do with me.
Riku: And you came just in time. We need to wait for one more...hopefully he comes.
Erina: "He"? Is he someone you know nii-sama?
Gin: It's not just Riku who knows this person. You and Yukihira know him all too well.
They waited for a few minutes till they hear a knock on the door.
Riku: Looks like he came like I said.
The door opened and Joichiro entered the room. Riku looked at Soma and Erina as their faces show immense shock. Alice was wondering why Erina is acting like that.
Sanzaemon: You've come right on time Joichiro. I thought that you'll be coming late.
Joichiro: Well my search was cut short unfortunately. So I got some time. Yo Soma! Erina-chan is here too!
Soma: Oyaji? What are you doing here?
Erina: S-Saiba-sama?
Soma: Saiba? Oi oyaji.
Joichiro: I go by Yukihira now Erina-chan.
Erina: Yukihira? Then that means...
Erina looked at Joichiro then to Soma, as she repeats it for a few times and she's about to experience a mental breakdown.
Riku: Alright, I think an explanation is needed so we can move forward.
Joichiro: Guess so. Normally I would tell this to Soma once he gets back to the academy, but this is good as any.
One Explanation Later
Soma: So oyaji is a Tōtsuki alumni, a Polar Star old boy and a second seat to boot...this is too much for me to swallow...
Erina: Yukihira-kun is Saiba-sama's son...and all of the things I said to him...
Soma and Erina were at a corner as if they're facing an existential crisis.
Riku: Guess the information was too much for them.
Gin: I was kinda expecting the same thing. Joichiro really didn't hold back.
Alice: So you were a part of the Elite Ten as well? That explains Yukihira-kun's ingenuity in the kitchen.
Joichiro: I just taught him the basics and he just went with the flow.
Soma: Oi oyaji, why didn't you tell me this?
Joichiro: Well...you didn't ask.
Soma: Touche. So Nakiri...you had a thing on my old man huh?
Soma smugly asked this to Erina as he elbows her lightly which irritated her.
Erina: I'm not you idiot!
Joichiro: They're getting along.
Riku: Getting along? Or both of them are at each other's throats?
Sanzaemon: Anyway, let's move on to the main issue. Riku, if you will.
Riku nodded as he snapped his fingers and a violet aura surrounded the entire room. This surprised the three Tōtsuki students.
Riku: This will be a safety precaution, just in case that someone tried to eavesdrop on us.
Erina: Nii-sama, what was that?
Riku: I'll explain later. For now, we'll explain on what's happening right now.
Riku explained everything from him seeing Azami in Stockholm and the information that he got from his men that Azami has some plans brewing in Japan.
Soma was confused as he doesn't know anything, but for Erina, she started shaking in fear.
Erina: No...it can't be...he's coming back?
Alice came to Erina's side as she tried to comfort her
Alice: We're here for you Erina. Uncle Azami won't lay a hand on you. I-...no we promise.
Erina held Alice tight as she was looking for comfort. Soma seeing Erina like that asked Joichiro for answers.
Soma: Oyaji, what's happening to her?
Joichiro: This has somethin' to do with Erina-chan's past. And I'm not the one to say it.
Sanzaemon: You have my permission Joichiro. But I think I have to explain it first.
One Long Ass Explanation Later
(A/N: Sanzaemon explained everything like in the canon, and so is Joichiro's past becasue writing it here will take a fuck ton of time.)
After Joichiro and Sanzaemon told their stories and with Gin and Riku in adding some details, Soma was in his own world, Erina calmed down as she listened to the whole story along with Alice.
Riku: No that you know everything, what're you gonna do now?
Soma was the first to answer as Riku and Joichiro can see the seriousness on his face.
Soma: Ya know...after everything that you told me just now...I don't care.
Everyone in the room looked very shocked to Soma's words. Alice was about to do something but Riku stopped her while Erina was tugging her sleeve.
Soma: I get that a lot of things happen with Nakiri's pops back in the day and oyaji's history with Tōtsuki. But what I have to do is the same from the beginning.
Soma pointed at Erina as he continue to speak.
Soma: She said "It was terrible", and that was it. It seems that she's got some serious family problems, but that has nothing to do with me. All I want is for her to say that my food is good, that's all.
The men smiled at Soma's words and Erina was blushing when she heard Soma's true intentions.
Sanzaemon(thoughts): You were right Joichiro. If someone can save Erina...it's your son and his generation.
Joichiro(thoughts): Looks like you found the one Soma...all that's left for you is to realize it.
Riku(thougths): Even after hearing all that depressing shit. You impress me yet again...Yukihira Soma.
Soma approached Erina as he reached his hand to her.
Soma; So...if you like...let's bury the hatchet and start over. Aside form Alice and Arato, let's be friends.
Erina was looking at Soma with eyes of shock, Normally Soma is gonna act high and mighty, but this time, there was no tinge of that at all. Erina reached his hand and held it tight.

Erina started to blush when Soma called her by her name, while Joichiro and Alice were looking smug looking at the two.
Riku: I'm glad that you two made up. But there is one more thing that I need your attention to...and you may not like it.
Sanzaemon: Riku. Judging from your voice...
Riku: Yeah...it's bad...here.
Riku gave the letter that Kokoro gave her to the old man. But before Sanzaemon read the letter, Riku tried to warn him.
Riku: Before you read it...I just hope that you won't go crazy...
Sanzaemon nodded simply as he read the letter. After a few minutes of reading, everyone could sense a strong aura emanating from the older Nakiri, who struck his fist on the desk, nearly breaking it in half.
Sanzaemon: Unforgivable...AZAMI!
Erina: Ojii-sama!?
Alice: What did the letter say Riku-nii-sama?
Riku only sighed as he tells what the letter was.
Riku: Nakiri Azami has aligned himself to the Noirs.
Erina, Alice and Joichiro couldn't believe what they heard. Joichiro grabbed Riku by the shirt as he starts questioning him.
Joichiro: DON'T FUCK WITH ME RIKU! AZAMI MAY BE A SHIT OF A FATHER, BUT AS A CHEF, HE WON'T ALIGN HIMSELF TO THEM!
Gin(thoughts): Joichiro...it's been a while since I've seen him this angry.
Soma: Oi oyaji! What-
Riku: Don't! Let me handle it. I wanted to say no, Joichiro-san, but it is true. This was delivered to me by my messenger hawk a while back. I asked Ran-san to look into the incident in the underground since the Yakumo are holding them there.
Soma: I may be stupid to ask but...what are the Noirs?
Riku: No, it is not a silly thing to ask because you are not aware of it yet. The Noirs symbolize the darker side of the average cook. They mostly display their powers in the underground, where they collaborate with the Mafia, Yakuza, Drug Lords, and other groups. And their culinary approach is far from traditional, since they use whatever skills are required to create their cuisine. And with Azami standing with them...it could ruin the country. And if the public learns that Azami has sided with the Noirs, Tōtsuki's reputation will suffer.
Sanzaemon: The question is, What made him align with them?
Riku: I'm currently waiting for my guys to have a report regarding this matter.
Sanzaemon: Are you sure they're trustworthy?
Riku: They can be trusted. I mean they dare not to mess with a Nagae after all. If they do break our trust...
Sanzaemon: Very well. For now, we have to accelerate some of our plans...this may be a challenge to the students, but it had to be done.
Riku: Just don't go to the extra mile. We can only alleviate a part of your paper work, not the entire damn thing. Remember, we have our own thing, and I have a huge project coming.
Sanzaemon: I'll take note of that. But I think that it's your turn to explain Riku.
Riku seemed to remember that he has some explaining to do.
Riku: Yeah, that. We still have time...sit down you three...what I'm about to tell you is something that you must keep a secret no matter what. Understand?
The three young chefs nodded as Riku explains his side of the story.
One Storytelling Later - 9:30 P.M.
After Riku finished explaining everything, the three young chefs were just blinking as if they were fish. It's kinda understandable since they aren't aware of the world that Riku is in.
Soma: So let me get this straight. You are a youkai right?
Riku: I am. But remember that I'm also part human.
Alice: I find it hard to believe...to think that magic exists.
Riku: Magic already exists from the beginning Alice. Can't be helped since you're more into science.
Erina; But why hide this from us? Ojii-sama, Chef Dojima and Saiba-sama knew all along, yet we aren't aware of it...
Sanzaemon: It's not like he doesn't want to tell you the truth. It's just you're too young to understand.
Alice: Who else knew that you're a youkai?
Riku: Many. But don't worry, they're quite tight lipped. But the other matter is now that you three know what I really am, the Nakiri and Yukihira families are under the Nagae's protection.
Erina/Alice/Soma: What?
Joichiro: Because the three of you are now aware of Riku's ture self and responsibility, our families are under the Nagae's protection. It also means that if you need anything, don't hesitate to give Riku a call.
Riku: I might not be helping you directly, but I will do my best. Soma, remember the card that I gave you this morning?
Soma nodded and shows the card that Riku gave him.
Riku: Present that to any food market that the Nagae Family owns, they will prioritize your needs and they will give you a 70% discount. Just ask them what you need and thy will provide.
Soma: This card has that much authority?!
Gin: You may not know this, the Nagae actually owns 70% of the food markets here in Japan and they also have some branches all over the world. And, the Nagae are also providing the ingredients that the school has been using throughout the years.
Soma's jaw drop at the bomb that Gin dropped. He didn't expect that the card in his hand has that much value. He put a mental not that he will keep the card closely to him. This is one thing that he couldn't lose no matter what.
Riku's phone was vibrating and he looked at it and it was a message from Johan and it seems that they need him in their room.
Riku: I would like to continue our meeting, but I have some matters to attend to.
Sanzaemon: Ah yes, you have a performance tomorrow. Very well, you may go. I can't wait to see you play and prove them wrong.
Joichiro: Eh? Riku's playing? Then this will be worth it. Oyajii, if you don't mind, I'll be staying here until tomorrow, I can't miss Riku's play.
Gin: What about your search?
Joichiro: I'm at a dead end for now, and staying here for a while might give me some time to wind off...and give me more time to see if my son has improved or not.
Joichiro looked at Soma and Soma flinched a bit, it's as if he wants to fight his father right now, but he held back.
Riku: So...yeah...then I'll be expecting you to be there tomorrow.
Riku left the room as he wave goodbye and makes his way to OG's room.
Tōtsuki Resort - 8th Floor - OG's Room - 9:45 P.M.
Riku POV
After the meeting with the chefs, I went to OG's room, and when I entered, I noticed that the boys were playing TEKKEN in the living area. When they discovered I had entered, they stopped playing and proceeded to explain why I had been called in, which was for a good reason.
Misha: Riku, can you teach me how to be a DJ?
Riku: Where did that idea come from?
Johan: Well Misha said that the band needs to be flexible at certain roles, and he said that we can't rely on Bozhidar, Ammar and Artem to switch most of the time.
So Misha wants to be a DJ so that he could provide more possibilities for the band...but it's not going to be simple. Misha is the sort of man who takes his time learning new things. If it were me, I might be able to help. I have some expertise as a DJ from TI9, but...wait...he might be able to...I just need to convince him.
Riku: Hmmmm...how long will you guys stay here in Japan?
Johan: We'll be here till the 3rd of June. Juan and Allen are already handling things in Madrid for our place to stay there for the tour.
Riku: I see...I might make it work...
Johan: So, can you help Misha with his request?
Riku: I can. But I have to make some calls to make it work.
Misha: Thanks Riku. I swear that I'll pay you back for this.
Riku: If you want to pay me back, make it at least top 3 at TI this year.
Misha: I'll try...but don't expect the best okay?
Misha nervously answered as he scratched the back of his head.
Johan: Now that Misha's problems been solved, how about a game Riku?
Riku: You do know that I have a-
Johan: Don't tell me you're chickening out?
Riku: You dare challenge me?
Johan: Yes, I am. So are you game or not?
Johan answered my question with a smirk as I head to the console and grabbed a controller and sat on the sofa.
Riku: Let's do this.
One ass beating later...
Tootsuki Resort - 8th Floor - Riku's Room - 11:30 P.M.
After running everyone's fade at TEKKEN with Panda, I left the boys and went back to my room. Only to find I had played for about two hours. On my way back, I called Dennojo-san to see whether he was still awake, and he was. I spared him the details of Misha's request, and he unexpectedly agreed. But he told me that he'd do it provided I let her granddaughter and her friends perform at CiRCLE, and I agreed. We decided that Misha would start at 4:00 p.m. at Monday.
When I returned to the room, I noticed that everyone had fallen asleep in their own quarters. So I go back to my room to complete stuff and relax. And when I opened the door to my room, I saw that someone was in my bed. I got closer and saw Rinko on my bed.
I attempted to wake her up, but she didn't move. I just groaned and let her go as I removed the laptop from my backpack and headed to the desk in my room.
I opened the laptop and saw an email from Hatate. I opened it, and it gave me the entire monthly fee for CiRCLE in May. Before giving CiRCLE to me, grandfather informed me that the monthly expense of CiRCLE would be covered by him for the remainder of the year. This means that next year, I will have to pay for all of the Live House expenses out of my own cash. Thank goodness I got the lifetime contract, because Hatate showed me that the expenditures for May are at least $250,000.
After reading many emails other than what Hatate supplied me, Chu2 wrote me an email stating that they were able to complete a contract with Monster Energy for a four-year, 80-million-dollar deal. 20 million more than Roselia's, and she also stated that they had agreed a deal with Alien Tech, an American firm that manufactures high-quality DJ equipment. I dismissed the email and looked through a folder until I found it and clicked it.

I opened the folder and 13 files are inside and those files were music sheets and lyric sheets.

I wrote these songs because when I was 16, I started having strange dreams about the girls. And what was strange about this dream was that they had lost their memories. They lost their powers as well. I attempted to dismiss it, like I normally do, but it bothered me for several days. When I decided to create it as a song, the dream stopped coming. It reappeared after a few days, but it was a new dream.
When I relayed this to the girls, they were skeptical, so we contacted Doremy-san to see whether my dreams were real. She looked into my dreams and confirmed that I was speaking the truth. Yukari-san advised me to keep her updated if I had any more of those dreams, and I have been doing so for years.
So far, I've wrote 13 of these dreams, one of which I used in the TI10 Grand Finals. Some of the songs are still incomplete; while I have written the lyrics, I have not yet composed them. The last dream I had occurred in March. I am wondering why is it taking so long.
I'm finishing the final touches for "Boundary of Time" to make sure that there are no fuck ups in the song. I replayed it several times till I saved the entire thing completely and turned off my laptop and just stared at the bed with Rinko on it.
Riku: Now this is a pickle...how the fuck am I gonna do this...you now what, let's just go with the flow...excuse me.
When I raised the duvet, I saw her wearing a black semi-transparent negligee. The exquisite contours on her body shine through in what she wears, and the one moment I regret myself for being a half-youkai...I can see her naked breasts and her nicely sculpted ni-. I quickly threw down the cover since what I saw made me flush so badly.
Riku: Rinko...how bold of you to wear that...but...guess I have no choice in this. And that was close on my part...anymore than that, I might lose it...
I lifted the blanket once again as I tried to get myself in the bed without waking her up. When I finally lied down, I stared at Rinko's sleeping face and I just admired her beauty.
Riku: Even though you're sleeping, you still look beautiful...good night...my dear.
I gently caressed her hair and I kissed her on the forehead as I fall asleep.
Meanwhile in an unknown location
3rd POV
Two females were sprinting through the dense forest, as if their life depended on it. One is a mature woman in her early 30s, while the other is a girl in her early teens, at least 15 years old. Ursula and Nino are the names of these two girls. Members of the Black Fang.
Nino: *pant* *pant* do you think that we lost them?
Nino is leaning on a tree as she was tired from all the running.
Ursula: My scout has just returned. And it appears that they've turned back...we're safe for now.
Ursula says so as to assure Nino that they're safe for the time being.
Nino: I don't understand...what did we do to deserve this...we only wanted to help and protect people and yet...why...
Nino was crying as she question on why is this happening to her. Ursula got close to Nino as she hugged her.
Ursula: Everything is okay Nino...
Nino: But...father...even Lloyd and Linus...they gave up their lives so we could escape...same goes to Jaffar...don't tell me that-
Ursula: Don't finish that sentence. I promise I will be at your side. You know how strong Jaffar is; he'll find a way to return to us. And I will not die. I promise. Get some sleep now. We'll continue once you're well re- quick, behind me!
Ursula instructed Nino to hide behind her as a violet doorway with two ribbons on either end and numerous eyeballs appeared. A woman with long blond hair emerged from that gateway, and Ursula paled at seeing her.
Ursula: Y-Y-You...what are you doing here...Yakumo Yukari?!
Yukari only looked at Ursula and Nino as she lets out a menacing smirk as she opened her fan.
Yukari: No need to do something drastic.
Ursula: Like hell I'll believe that. What would the Elder Sage of the East want with us?
Yukari felt a bit offended when she heard "Elder", but decided to ignore it.
Yukari: I will ignore that. And as to why I'm here is quite simple really. I am here to provide you some help.
Nino: Really? Then-
Ursula: Not yet Nino. The person we're talking to is Yakumo Yukari. One of the most cunning beings alive. If she's willing to help us, there's gotta be a catch.
Yukari just covered her mouth with her fan and started giggling.
Yukari: Ufufufufufufufu~ You really are observant Ursula. I will provide you with help. But I want you two to do something for me.
Ursula: So you want us to be your errand girls? I think it's better than with us on the run. So, what do you want from us?
Yukari: You two are to head to Japan.
Nino/Ursula: Eh?
