Jenny POV:
As l ended the live video, I felt a mix of emotions: relief, anxiety, and exhaustion. I looked around, noticing everyone's eyes fixed on me. The staff's chatter and clinking dishes filled the air.
"What's wrong?" I asked, feeling a sense of unease.
"Do you really like him?" my dad asked, his voice low and concerned.
I shook my head, trying to brush off the question. "No, Dad..."
I raised an eyebrow. "Why ask, then?"
He shrugged, not wanting to delve deeper. "Never mind, dear. Let's go home now. It's getting late," he said, his voice gentle.
We packed the remaining food and said our goodbyes to the staff. The warm sun beat down on us as we walked to the car. Aunt Cathy, Cindy, Dad, Granny, and I piled in, the scent of saltwater and sunscreen lingering on our skin.
As we drove away, I waved goodbye to Aunt Cathy and Cindy, feeling a sense of relief wash over me. Once we arrived home, I noticed Granny's keen eyes on me.
"I noticed your mood changed suddenly after you finished the live video," she said, her voice soft but inquiring.
I forced a smile, trying to downplay my emotions. "It didn't. I'm just feeling tired, that's why."
Granny's eyes narrowed slightly, but she didn't press the issue. "Follow me to my room," she said, her voice gentle.
Dad retreated to his room, and I followed Granny to hers. The soft creak of the door announced our entry. Granny settled into her rocking chair, its gentle sway a comforting motion. I sat on the bed, the plush comforter enveloping me in warmth.
Granny's eyes sparkled with curiosity. "This question I want to ask you, I must only hear the truth from you, okay?"
I nodded, feeling a sense of trepidation. "Okay, Granny."
"Do you like him?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
I hesitated, unsure of how to articulate my feelings. "I seriously don't know. I don't even understand myself. I feel like I belong to him. Just like there's this feeling of connection one has when they meet someone for the first time."
Granny's face lit up with a warm smile. "That's love at first sight, my dear."
I shook my head, feeling a mix of emotions. "It's not possible, Grandma. I can't fall for someone on the first day."
Granny's eyes twinkled with understanding. "My dear, I understand what you mean, but you said you have this feeling of connection, like belonging to him. This only explains love at first sight. By the time you two get to know each other, it grows more."
I felt starstruck, unsure of how to process my emotions. "I don't know what to say," I admitted, feeling a sense of vulnerability.
Granny's expression turned gentle. "I know you're confused right now, but let me tell you a story. A girl met a guy on the first day and felt some connections. She thought it was normal, but as days grew, she liked him more.
She decided to follow her heart and not deny every time that she didn't like him. So, getting to know each other made them realize they were meant for each other. Obstacles came their way, and they fought it out."
Granny's eyes locked onto mine, her gaze intense. "Why am I telling you this? It's because I want you to follow your heart. If you feel you're his, do something. Don't just sit there every day till a lady tries to steal him from you."
I sighed, feeling a sense of resignation. "But he said I should stay away from him, so it's no use."
Granny's expression turned soft. "Good night, my dear. Sleep tight."
I kissed her forehead, feeling a sense of gratitude for her wisdom. As I left her room, the soft click of the door echoed through the hallway, leaving me to ponder my feelings.
