Maya gave him a deadly glare before walking closer to the elevator and pressing the button repeatedly for it to open.
Eric watched as she stepped in and the elevator closed.
His hand went to his cheek and it was heated, he also had her fingerprints on his face.
He rubbed his cheek gently before bowing his head and sighing. He couldn't return to the board meeting like that, so he decided to take the other elevator.
As he waited inside the elevator for it to reach the last floor, her words began echoing in her mind.
He had nothing to do with what happened in that boardroom and if he told anyone that he wasn't hurt by reaction, that would be a complete lie.
What truly hurt him wasn't her words but the fact that she didn't trust him. After all the sincerity he had shown her, she still chose to make such a judgmental conclusion.
