Chapter 17 - Chapter 17

"I…don't know what to say," Maya replied, frankly.

He had asked her the question too suddenly. She just heard the truth from him but that wouldn't change much.

"I know that I've hurt you a lot and it's really difficult for you to forgive me but I didn't do what I thought was best for both of us. I always loved you and your status never mattered." Eric tried convincing.

Maya looked away and blinked her eyes rapidly.

"I have another man in my life, Eric."

She had to remind him that this was reality and not some show, feelings were real and people could get hurt.

"I know but do you love him?"

Maya was unable to answer his question.

"I knew from the beginning that you didn't have any feelings for him. If you had, you would have accepted my rejection a long time ago without thinking twice." Eric said, confidently.

He was right about that.

"I don't know how I feel about Johnny but I don't want to hurt his feelings. He has done so much for me, when You abandoned me, he was there. He sponsored my schooling, he helped me with the company. I would have a lone wolf or a beggar on the street if it weren't for him." Maya said, being considerate towards her fiance.

"I've agreed to marry him. I can't leave him like this. It's so wrong. Sleeping with you was my first and worst mistake." She already said those words before realizing that her last statement wasn't that nice.

"That's not what…"

"You don't have to explain anything. You're right, you might have made a mistake but I'm still your mate and it's wrong for you to be with someone you don't love. He's gonna suffer whether you cheat on him or not because all you feel is appreciation." Eric muttered and shrugged his shoulders.

Mays shook her head; "Then I shouldn't have accepted his love for me."

"You couldn't reject it either, you owed him," Eric said and took his hands to her face, he brought her face closer to his. "Let's imagine that Johnny didn't exist and neither did any of these problems that we were facing. Would you be with me? Do you love me?"

Maya blinked at him, knowing what to say but understanding how wrong it was.

"Yes, I love you," Maya replied, her voice tiny and somewhat shy. "You might have hurt me but my crazy and stupid heart still beats for you and I want to be with you…"She whispered the last part of her sentence.

"But unfortunately, Johnny does exist and so does everyone. We can't…" It hurt her to complete her sentence.

"We can be together, look at me… Just say what you truly want, I can give you all the time that you require to make your decision." Eric insisted he needed her so much.

He pressed a button and both car windows slid up, they were also blind, so no one could see them inside.

"I'll wait till you make your decision, I promise." He smiled and stroked the strands of her wet hair that was in front of her face. "I'm satisfied with hearing that you love me, I can hold on to that, for now. Beautiful." He snickered.

Maya smiled a bit.

"Thanks for defending me. I was so confused back there, I didn't know what to do."

"Don't let their reactions get to you. They aren't better, each of them has their hidden crimes and secrets. They just want to make you feel horrible because you're better," He encouraged her and pressed his lips on hers.

He pulled away and sucked her bottom lip, he captured the upper one. Her lips parted, yearning for his tongue in her mouth. He slightly slid his tongue into her mouth but quickly took it out, teasing her.

He slid it again and did the same quick move but this time, Maya pushed him away and smacked his arm.

"Stop playing with me." Maya laughed and licked her lips.

Eric giggled and smooched her lips again but this time much deeper than before. When their lips parted they opened up to each other, their tongues twirled in each other's mouth, exploring each other's taste as much as they wanted.

Their tongues were battling in their mouths causing moans to escape their lips. Maya took her hands to his face and caressed him while Eric's hands transferred to her waist.

They were so intoxicated in the kiss, that it was wise of Eric to have closed the window. It would have been another scandal if the press had caught them or someone had begun videoing them.

Maya pulled away to breathe for a second before kissing him again. She had lost control around him, it was always difficult to hold back. Everything about him was so enticing.

"Hmm," She moaned in between the kiss before tilting her head to the side to get another angle of his lips.

They kept tilting their heads at intervals and the bridges of their noses rubbed against each other.

Eric allowed her to kiss him as much as wanted before taking control of her tongue and lips. He kissed her till her lips were swollen red.

The kiss was so breathtaking.

Maya gasped as it was parted, she looked into his eyes and a smile appeared on her lips.

"Did you like little Eric?" Eric grinned at her.

"I love him," Maya replied.

Eric glared playfully at her and asked; "Do you love him more than me?"

"Just shut up." Maya shook her head and laughed, her hand went to her lips. He was so funny.

Eric loved seeing her this happy.

"I think I left my purse inside there," Maya stopped laughing as she finally realized that her purse was missing. "I'll go get it."

"Are you crazy? Don't go anywhere. I don't want anyone to try harming you again. I need you to be safe and sound, stay inside here while I get your purse. I'm the knight in shining armor, let me do my job." Eric said jokingly and left the car.

Covering her lips with the back of her hand, Maya chuckled. Her cheeks were heated and so red.

She was blushing so much over a kiss, she covered her cheeks for a while before fanning her reddened skin with her hands.

"I can't believe that I'm blushing so much. I have to control myself. I'm no longer that Maya who would laugh stupidly—" Before she could complete her sentence another laugh escaped her lips.

She hadn't laughed this much since the scandal of her company. Eric made her so happy.

Thinking about the devil, he returned with her purse and entered the car. He was smiling as well, obviously happy.

"Luna, where should we go? Your house or my hotel room?" Eric asked, taunting her.

"Luna?" Maya blushed harder. "You're not even an Alpha yet, stop getting ahead of yourself." Maya laughed.

Eric cracked up as well.

"My hotel room or your house?"

"My house, of course!" Maya replied, firmly but unseriously.

Eric shook his head; "Relax, I was just asking for directions, you have such a dirty mind. Don't worry, we will do it another day."

He handed over her purse and started the car.

"You jerk!" She hit his arm playfully.

*

Maya's mansion.

Maya arrived at home and freshened up. She told the maids to make something for her; she ate some scrambled eggs and stayed in bed.

She was thinking about everything that she discussed with Eric, and she thought of going back to him. Her wolf loved the idea, she loved it so much that she was overly enthusiastic.

'Am I going to shift or what?' Maya asked, feeling too overwhelmed.

'Not now, we aren't ready yet.' her wolf replied.

Maya rolled her eyes and covered her face with the duvet. She stayed there and ended up sleeping off, she slept so long that she shockingly woke up in the evening.

It was surprising when she checked the time and saw how late it was. When she went downstairs the maid had prepared something because she didn't want to disturb her or leave her hungry when she woke up.

Maya was quite appreciative of her, she had dinner but it was interrupted by Johnny.

"Hello, Love." Johnny smiled at her. He walked to Maya and pecked her on the hair.

"How have you been?" Johnny asked her before going to sit down beside her.

Maya looked at him not knowing what to say or how to respond. She kept looking at him strangely and he noticed it.

"Is there something wrong? Are you alright? Did something happen?" Johnny bombarded her with questions not like he truly cared. He was simply after deceiving her, using her to make more money, then claiming her innocence that he thought she still had.

Meanwhile, Maya wished he hadn't visited because she was still confused about a lot of things, especially their relationship. It also felt like she was betraying him because of her lies and her strong attraction to her ex, it wasn't just an allure but love.

She was in love with Eric and there was no need to deny it anymore.

Who should she stay with? The one she loved or the man who changed her life?
