Johnny sneered and stopped squeezing the wet cloth. He wiped the water off her face and retracted his hand.
He kept the small towel back into the bowl, then stretched a bit, placing it on her drawer.
Looking at Maya again, the sinister look on his face slowly vanished as he sensed that she was awakening.
Maya's eyelashes moved a bit and so did her fingers which were a bit numb before. Her eyes slowly opened and so did her lips.
A tiny moan escaped from her lips before she closed them and looked around her room. As she darted her eyes in the direction Johnny was, her eyes widened.
"Johnny." Maya gasped and wiped her eyes with her hands.
She finally realized that seeing Eric and having him touch her was all a dream. She was dreaming of her ex in front of her fiance. That was the most mortifying thing she had done.
"Why are you here?" Maya asked, feeling a bit disoriented.
She tried sitting up and Johnny assisted her, pretending like nothing happened, a few seconds ago.
"I saw the news," Johnny replied and forced a smile on his lips. "I thought that you needed me because things had escalated."
Maya slowly nodded and sighed as she recalled the ordeal that she wanted to escape from. She wished that the employee hadn't died and she had not made that car at all.
Johnny observed her for a while then took his hand to her forehead, checking her temperature.
" You still have a fever, I will call the doctor to come to check up on you," Johnny suggested and kept his hand by his side.
Maya shook her head in disapproval.
"There's no need for that. I'm alright, I'm sure, it's just the pressure of everything."
Maya didn't want him to bother himself because she felt that she wasn't worth his love. She was shamelessly dreaming about another man touching her, how despicable.
Her wolf seemed to disagree with her and acknowledged how good the dream was, she went further to wish that it was real.
"It will never be real!" Maya said her thoughts aloud.
Johnny looked at her confusedly. He didn't understand her actions sometimes.
"What are you talking about?" Johnny asked, staring frantically at her. "Are you in denial? Well, it's natural to feel that certain events shouldn't have happened."
Maya didn't want to argue, so she went along with what he said.
"The incident is all over the internet. They're accusing me of killing my employee to probably cover some of my dirty work. They keep going to every account I have on social media and saying mean things about me." Maya complained and tears filled her eyes.
Johnny almost rolled his eyes at her. She was more bearable when her company made money but now that things seemed to be falling apart. He wasn't pleased at all.
He still didn't want to show her the other side of him, at least not yet.
"Everything is going to be okay. Don't read their comments, just stay off the internet for now, they don't know anything about you and that's more reason why their words shouldn't have any effect on you." John said, still curving his lips.
Maya smiled at him and let out a deep breath. She felt bad for thinking of Eric instead of Johnny who was a wonderful person or so she thought.
"Thank you so much, what will I do without an awesome fiance like you?" Maya grinned and moved closer to him.
Johnny chuckled; "Nothing."
"Thanks for your support, I know that you're quite disappointed in me…"
'Yes, I'm extremely disappointed because this is going to cause a great loss to the company and also tarnish its name. I have invested my hard-earned money in your education and company. it's a loss to me' Johnny complained inwardly.
"It's okay, none of this is your fault. Everything was beyond your control and I'm so sorry that you have to go through this." Johnny said something entirely different from what he had in mind.
Maya's heart almost melted at his words, he was so kind to her.
"Why are you apologizing? I should be the one saying sorry for my mistake. That car was tested. I don't— know how it happened." Maya said, her breath shuddering.
Johnny took his hands to her face and brought his face closer to hers.
"Don't think about it anymore. Tell me what you want to eat, so that I can cook for you." Johnny said with a smile.
"I don't know, I would eat anything that you decide to cook. Thank you once again." Maya smiled and got kissed on the lips.
Johnny parted the kiss and left her room, he went downstairs and met the maid that he had yelled at before.
"Sir." She slightly bowed to him.
"Make some food for Maya, you should know what she likes," Johnny said, trying not to show his immense displeasure over everything that was happening.
"Yes sir." the maid bowed.
"Make it simple and snappy." He ordered.
The maid nodded and rushed to the cupboard to bring out some food ingredients. Johnny stood there and waited for her to finish cooking.
When she was done, she served the food and handed it over to him. He took the tray of food and water upstairs, straight to Maya's room.

"You're done, that was quite fast." Maya forced a smile, she was still bothered about everything but Johnny was trying to make her happy.
It wouldn't be nice of her to frown and remain sad; making his efforts look stupid and utterly useless.
Johnny walked to her and dropped the tray of food on her bed.
"It's delicious, I hope you enjoy it." He flashed a fake smile.
"It looks yummy."
"Try it first" Johnny urged and looked away from her.
Maya began eating and suddenly she recalled the dream that she had about Eric. It felt so real. It was either the little mate bond driving her crazy or her wolf that might have started those illusions to remind her of Eric.
From thinking of Eric, her mind diverted back to the employee that died. She didn't know the next step to take.
People were dropping so many bad reviews about her company; the sales of cars must be dropping and people might start demanding a refund. This made her so weary and sad.
"I told you not to think again, why are you so stubborn?" her fiance scolded her.
Maya tried to smile again but she failed. The thought of everything made tears sting her eyes.
She sighed and dropped her cutlery, she had suddenly lost her appetite.
" I'm trying to act like everything is normal but the thoughts of the incidents that happened today have refused to leave my mind. The press waited outside the company, capturing my face and making horrible comments."
"Those people might not know me…but their words are more damaging than a car hitting me. My mind is so exhausted but yet I can't stop thinking about my cars, sales, and the poor employee that got killed today." Tears slipped out of her eyes as she spoke.
Johnny's hands reached for her pale face and he muttered;'' I'm here to support you and I will help you in any way that I can, just relax. You've been making good cars for these past few years and you've brought the company to a great height—"
"That makes my situation worse. I have brought the company to such a great level but it's about to crumble before my face." Maya broke down in tears.
Johnny slowly pushed the tray of food aside and pulled her into a hug.
He didn't say anything but kept hugging her and stroking her hair from behind. Minutes later, he broke the hug and wiped her tears away.
"Stop crying and eat your food," Johnny said and moved away from her before returning the try to its former position.
Maya nodded childishly and resumed eating. She was eating a little peacefully till Johnny asked about Eric, causing her to choke.
Johnny quickly gave her water and she gulped it down. Her reaction already confirmed that there was something suspicious going on.
"I'm sorry." Maya coughed and rubbed her chest. "Why are you asking about him?" she asked, wearily.
"Nothing." Johnny shrugged and beamed. "Eat."
Maya smiled shakily and continued eating, she wondered why he asked about Eric. She became worried about him suspecting her, she didn't want him to get hurt.
Johnny watched her till she finished eating, after that he took the dishes away and went downstairs. After dropping the dishes in the kitchen, he left from there.
Bringing his phone from his pocket, he called someone and made his way to the door.
'Hello.' Johnny said as the recipient answered.
'Hello, Boss.'
'I need you to follow my fiancee anywhere she goes, I think there's someone unwanted in her life. I might have to eradicate the pest.' Johnny frowned.
