Eric stared at his father and many thoughts ran through his mind, he couldn't deny that he was jealous.
He saw all she had achieved, the heights in which she had reached and it made him somewhat angry that she had accomplished everything without him.
He couldn't prevent all the jealousy and envy from overwhelming him because that was the sort of person he was. He had an ego and when it was bruised, it left a mark on his confidence.
Alpha Damien always had this power that he couldn't ignore or resist, it was like his words existed to dictate his life.
Those envious thoughts ran dominantly through his mind but then he recalled the past.
He was in love with Maya and never wanted to reject her. He truly loved that woman and never felt the same way for Eunice.
All he felt for Eunice was lust and nothing more, his wolf had no connection with her. He felt different, he had this emptiness that nothing and no one could fill except Maya.
It was all pressure from his father and the elders that led him to reject her. He didn't love the Alpha title more than her but he had no choice.
He chose the title which he didn't end up getting because Eunice cheated on him.
He left Maya alone and wished her the best though he never told her that but deep in his heart he wanted her to move on.
Now that she had moved on, he was regretting his actions and words towards her. Presently, she seemed happy and engaged but he couldn't stand it.
She had executed great things including her happiness without him but he had remained unhappy and unfulfilled since she left him.
Eric looked at his father and said; "Father, I recall the time that you demanded that I marry someone of my caliber and status but what happened after that? The woman cheated on me despite how much I satisfied her."
"I was sad and lonely from the day Maya left. I was wistful about each insult that hurt her innocent heart."
"I am bitter that she has surpassed me in everything but do you know what makes me more bitter? It's the fact that I had the chance to stand by her and be with her and assist her in reaching her peak but I wasn't there!" Eric said, his eyes filled with hurt which one would rarely see.
"This is all your fault and now you are telling me to harm her again. I don't mind, if she's at the top and I'm beneath as long as she is happy, I would be alright with it. Don't say anything again because I will not listen to any of your damaging and toxic words" Eric said and left angrily from there.
Alpha Damien was stunned by his opposition.
"Follow him and speak some sense into him" Alpha Damien ordered.
Beta Fred immediately stood up and went to meet Eric.

"Eric, open up." Beta Fred urged and knocked repeatedly on the door.
Eric was inside, having a bath. He had to wash off the stupid smell of alcohol on him but he would miss her scent.
After washing up, he walked to his wardrobe and changed into his pajamas.
He could hear the knocking of his friend but he ignored it and walked to his bed.
Eric laid down on it and brought out his phone.
He opened a video and it was a video of him having sex with Maya. He lowered the volume a bit and zoomed in. He had recorded them because he knew it might not happen again, he never recorded their intimacy with bad intentions.
Everything about her excited him and his wolf, his wolf never felt such an attachment to Eunice.
He paused the video and switched off his phone, he scolded himself for thinking those nasty things about her. How could he think of ruining her after all the pain he caused her?
That would be the last time in which he would allow his father to influence his decision.
"Eric!."
Exhaling sharply, he stood up and went to open the door.
"If you are here to convince me to adhere to his insane words then you should think again because I'm not listening to him ever again especially when it concerns Maya," Eric said to Eric and went to sit on his bed.
"I'm not here to cajole you into ruining that young woman's life"Beta Fred sighed and went to sit next to him.
"When did you meet Maya?" Beta Fred questioned.
"I met her yesterday in a meeting, she looked so beautiful, poise, and full of fierceness. She wasn't like the Maya I had known before but she still had a soft spot for me" Eric smiled.
"I'm so happy that Maya is finally someone who has earned respect and wouldn't be humiliated again like you did her in the past," Beta Fred said with a little motive to remind Eric not to hurt her again.
"You can save the lectures because I have no plans of harming her."
"Does she have someone in her life? Because I doubt that she had been waiting these past years for you" He inquired, curiously.
"Yes, she's engaged to a man, quite wealthy and they looked like they were happy but tonight, she showed me that it was all false or maybe a pretense. She still loves me, despite all that I've done" Eric said with a smile.
"She must be a fool for loving someone like you but I'm happy that you've found her."
"I have and I'm willing to do anything to gain back her trust and love her in the way she deserves. I don't care about whatever Father has said, I reprimand myself for permitting such wicked thoughts to intrude into my mind" Eric sighed.
"Aren't you worried about her present fiancé? Won't he become a big problem in your path of winning her heart back?" asked Beta Fred in concern.
