Chapter 529 - Chapter 528: Evil and Demons

Nick looked again at Jenny and Ahmanet beside him. Ahmanet held her cheek again and leaned close to Nick's ear, saying, "It hurts."

Nick, puzzled, asked, "What?"

In reality, Ahmanet cried out in pain, "It hurts!"

This deafening scream made Nick and Jenny crouch down, covering their ears, and brought Nick back to reality.

Ahmanet's agonizing cry had no effect on Henry Jekyll.

Nick walked over to Ahmanet and shouted, "Stop it!"

Then, he turned to Henry and said, "Stop it, stop injecting mercury."

It was unclear whether Nick was telling Ahmanet to stop screaming or telling Henry to stop injecting mercury, perhaps both.

Henry looked at Nick and exclaimed, "Incredible!"

He hadn't anticipated such a change in Nick, which was unexpected.

Meanwhile-

Coulson, accompanied by Kabuto and members of the SHIELD Special Task Force, had arrived at London Airport.

As they got off the plane, four armored vehicles were already parked in front of them. Coulson led Kabuto onto one of the vehicles, and after all the members were on board, the vehicle headed towards the location of the SHIELD branch in London.

During the ride, Coulson opened a file containing information about the SHIELD branch in London and the department head, Henry Jekyll.

These files were specially requested by Coulson from his director, Nick Fury, while on the plane.

As Coulson flipped through the files, he exclaimed, "The UK branch has made some surprising discoveries."

"But don't they have too much autonomy? Without a specific order from the director, it was almost impossible to obtain these files."

"I didn't expect them to be ahead in supernatural research."

"Egyptian gods, Set the god of death, demons, curses... interesting."

"They seem to have discovered quite a lot. I wonder how much they know about werewolves and the like."

Meanwhile, Jenny and Nick sat on the second-floor corridor, watching Ahmanet bound below.

Jenny spoke up, "What should I tell you?"

"If I really tell you about this place, would you still believe me?"

"When Henry found me, I accepted this job because we had common interests."

Nick, thoughtfully, said, "So you're using each other?"

Jenny looked at the suffering Ahmanet and said seriously, "Right now, she's using you."

As Ahmanet emitted a painful moan, Jenny looked at Nick and said, "Listen, no matter what you think, even though I didn't tell you all this from the beginning."

"But I trust my judgment. I care about you. Deep down in my heart, I feel that you're a good person."

Nick shook his head, "I'm not sure if I am a good person."

"I believe so."

Nick looked at Jenny, puzzled, "Why?"

"Because you saved my life on that plane."

"You didn't hesitate to give me the only parachute."

Watching Jenny's serious gaze, Nick couldn't help but feel moved.

Nick then shook his head slightly and said, "I thought there would be one more."

Upon hearing this, Jenny's self-induced sentimentality faded significantly, and the atmosphere between the two became somewhat awkward.

Just then, Henry approached, breaking the awkward atmosphere between them.

"Mr. Morton."

"Care for a drink?"

Nick immediately accepted the invitation and went out with Henry.

Meanwhile-

In the underground tombs of London, countless skeletons were being excavated and photographed.

Numerous SHIELD personnel were conducting excavations, with a special agent holding a sensing device, searching for something.

Soon, a red dot appeared on the device's screen.

"I've found something. It's right here, come quickly."

Following the agent's guidance, another agent took a sledgehammer and struck the ground at a designated location, instantly breaking through the surface.

And at this moment, Ahmanet, who was bound, seemed to sense something.

As the ground was broken, they discovered another coffin underground.

As the stone coffin was opened by the agents, everyone saw a skeleton inside, its hands clasping a red gem to its chest.

As the gem on the Set dagger appeared, it also came into Ahmanet's view.

After Nick left, Jenny approached Ahmanet and spoke in the language of the old gods:

"What you see is what you desire."

"I have studied the language of the old gods."

"Old gods?" Ahmanet asked.

This time, Ahmanet didn't use Ancient Egyptian but spoke in English, which surprised Jenny.

"Your language is easy to learn."

"What you really want to know is what lies behind the Tomb of Death."

"Wondering what I saw?"

Jenny nodded, "Yes."

"You will know after I kill you."

Although Ahmanet was bound, a smirk appeared on her lips, showing a mocking expression.

Seeing this, Jenny felt unable to communicate and turned away.

At this moment, Ahmanet spoke, "They found the gem, and you brought the one I selected here."

"How do you think they will treat him now?"

Hearing this, Jenny looked at the Set dagger being scanned and tested nearby.

Nick Morton followed Henry back to his office.

Nick looked at the relics displayed in Henry's office. Among them, a wolf's skull stood out among the various artifacts.

In addition, there was a tiny rhombus-shaped crystal, as well as a UV flashlight hanging next to it.

As Nick was curious about these items and what they represented, Henry spoke up, "Welcome to a whole new world."

Henry handed Nick a glass of whiskey and said, "A world of gods and demons."

Nick walked over, took the whiskey from Henry's hand, and downed it in one gulp.

Henry continued, "Evil has many names, Mr. Morton."

"Take Set, for example, known to the ancient Egyptians as the god of death."

"In the Old Testament: Satan, Lucifer..."

Nick nodded as he heard these names and said, "They're demons."

Henry continued, "All of them are demons."

Nick handed the glass back to Henry and then smiled, saying, "Yes, they're demons, they're villains, and they should all be eliminated and should not exist."
