It was hot outside, and Henry flopped onto the bed.
"Are we still leaving next month, Master?" Felicia asked the question he stopped her from uttering earlier.
"The plan won't change. I believe we can change our identities when we leave. We will go lowkey."
Henry was certain things will become more complicated once the envoy arrived. This ambush attempt was the start of a bigger event. It was not a good idea to stay further.
"Where are we going?" Felicia worriedly asked.
They were already displaced from their home back in Poppy City. This time they were leaving again. It made her feel homesick.
"I've never heard of Center Empire. I'll do some investigation and read in the Principal's library tomorrow."
"Me too. I don't even know the name of the empire we're in…"
Felicia became sad thinking about it. Being a commoner isolated her from many good things, such as magic and knowledge.
Henry patted her head. "In the future, you will see the grandness of the world."
"Yes…!" Felicia happily beamed, and her sadness melted away.
Her future was already destined for something else. The instant she became Henry's disciple, her destiny had changed! The thought of which excited her.
Henry spent the night to teach Felicia about life magic. He gave her tips he could remember and made her test them out in the room, causing bright flashes on their window when viewed from outside.
…
The following morning, Henry left the apartment and arrived in the Principal's Tower. He walked along the hallway and saw the former principals.
Halfway through, one of them caught his eye. This person was a Royal-class magus in the past. When it comes to the current magic system, that was equivalent to the fifth class.
That time must've been the heyday of the academy. The other principals were merely below that.
He walked past it and arrived at the office.
He knocked.
.
.
.
There was no answer after a while of waiting.
Henry looked left and right and saw no one was watching him.
For good measure, he knocked again.
Still nothing.
He slowly opened the door and peeked his head. It was dark, and there was no light— No one was inside.
Henry took a deep breath and entered. He waved his hand and created a flame.
He lit the whole room. It was spotless, and the books were still there.
"The Principal is not here so early?"
Henry realized why.
He walked to the shelves and read the information.
…
The home of the humans— Fardust. It was a continent rifled with wars, famine, poverty, disasters, monster invasions, and plagues. All in all, humans suffered here.
The continent was oddly shaped. It had snow at the northmost tip and dryness at the very south. The center was ideal as trees and grass plains covered it.
In total, there were seven empires.
The empire Henry was in was the Prosper Empire. It was southeast of the Center Empire.
Additionally, there were two other empires surrounding it, the Southsea Empire and the Valley Empire.
These empires all had Grand-class magi as their emperors— the sixth magus class of this era. They were mighty with strong armies.
The main reason that the Prosper Empire could stay stable while in the middle of three empires was because of its current emperor. If it weren't for him, the empire would be the most unstable due to the neighboring three.
Moreover, the name of the empire was not for show. It was the most prosperous of all the human empires.
Thus, it was also a fat sheep in the eyes of its neighbors.
…
Henry found the information to be eye-opening.
This continent did not resemble any he could remember. It was most likely a new one, or the ones from the past changed so much he could not recognize it.
Now that he knew the state of the Fardust continent and its general structure, he had an idea where to go.
Henry put the book back on the shelf and left the office.
He left the Principal's Tower fast and made it to Judy's lesson.
She smiled at him and continued her lesson. She looked delighted at his appearance.
He sat and listened. After a few minutes, he left, which made her sad. Regrettably, the content was something he already knew.
…
The news of the ambush spread throughout the whole academy. It was a shocking news.
Those who heard it quickly shared it.
At first, few believed it, but the later execution of the seven ambushers ignited the spread of the information. Virtue City's guard squadron sent a formal apology to the academy for letting it happen.
Security everywhere became stricter.
Henry, who was at the heart of it all, spent a week teaching Felicia about life magic. It was the only thing he did.
The advantages and disadvantages of life magic became clearer and clearer to Felicia. She learned many of its abilities that could be used to attack, heal, or support.
Although her current class could not show much of its potential, knowing them prepared her for the future.
From time to time, Felicia would visit the Magic Circuit Maintenance Building to study the blueprints. She took it slowly, following Henry's suggestion.
...
After that week, Henry found an excuse to visit the magic circuit alone.
His current plan was to test if he could take the object in the magic circuit.
He stood in the center and casually looked at the magic circuit. He walked around and pretended he was checking it for deviations or mistakes.
He waved his hand here and there and cast casual magic spells. He appeared to be testing something, and the students in the magic circuit could not understand.
It may seem nonsensical, but it was a deliberate action to make them ignore what he was doing.
He made sure they got used to it, and then when they did after a few hours, he deliberately made the spells hit the spot where the object was concealed.
The spells created ripples in the magic circuit, and Henry sensed them. These ripples let him know if he could take the object or not.
