Chereads / Return of the Strongest Forbidden Magus / Chapter 42 - Broken Magic System

Chapter 42 - Broken Magic System

The description of the power levels was much more detailed compared to Judy's lesson.

They were as follows: Low, High, Master, Lord, Royal, Grand, and Forbidden.

Each of these classes was self-explanatory. The Royal-class was usually the magus class of the kings of kingdoms. Beyond that were the two classes that could shape the world.

These two were the Grand and Forbidden classes. They could alter the world permanently. Those who were in these two classes were respected and avoided.

In fact, the reason the empire was still stable was because the emperor was said to be in the Forbidden-class. Previously, it was untold for an emperor to reach such a class.

The other empires in the continent were all in the Grand-class, but their territories were still strife with chaos. Neighboring empires would invade because other emperors weren't intimidated by each other.

This was the crux of the reason why the imperial capital was worried about the empire's current state of affairs. The moment the emperor died and the light that stabilized the empire disappeared would be the destruction of peace in the region.

Stability meant a lot for the people in the empire. After all, they had enjoyed thousands of years of pampered peace because of the emperor's long lifespan.

In the end, the empire hadn't managed to create a second Forbidden-class magus. They tried, but that also made the situation more complicated.

A lot of attempts led to three Grand-class magi appearing in the empire. These three were tame while the emperor was alive, but no one was certain if they would work together after he died.

The kings of the kingdoms were only in the Royal-class. Once the three started vying for territory and power, they would become puppets.

In the book Henry read, this was just a casual addition, but it caused waves in his heart. The empire was soon going to become unstable.

He needed to be prepared before that time arrived.

Thankfully, he was able to make sense of the power levels now.

In his era, there were ten classes. He couldn't remember the higher ones, but because he became a Simple magus a few weeks ago, he regained more of his memories. He now knew up to the eighth class.

Back then there were: Simple, Low, High, Master, Lord, Royal, Imperial, Grand, and another two more.

That Fearless Triumph Grand Magus' mansion he saw underground was from someone who was in that eighth class. It would be hard to imagine how much strength and authority that person wielded in his prime.

Henry couldn't remember at the moment, but he was certain it was above the Forbidden-class of this present era!

This era lost a lot of classes but still retained the form of the magic system's structure. Henry didn't know how or why it happened, but he could extrapolate from the information he knew.

These classes should be one-to-one with each other.

In other words, their Forbidden-class right now was the Imperial-class of his time. It was also a class missing in the current magic system, so it was a plausible explanation.

It became apparent that the present emperor occupied the appropriate class. As in today's context, the Forbidden-class was equivalent to what was once considered the Imperial-class.

Those known as Grand-class magi in the current era were, in fact, impostors and should be limited to governing kingdoms, as they were merely on par with the Royal-class from earlier eras

This revelation was shocking and a bit too much for Henry at the moment.

He put the book down and took a deep breath. He glanced at the principal and closed his eyes.

He reorganized his thoughts. Basically, he was at an advantage over the magi of the present.

He knew the magic system was incomplete. He just needed to know how to connect the present and his previous life's magic systems.

He reminded himself once again that he should be careful. This was something that would decide whether he would be able to cross the threshold in the future!

It concerned his dream and his goal. He had no idea what this threshold was anymore, but his desire to complete it still burned in his soul.

(To reach Low-class, I need to fill my other organs with mana too.)

Henry found that out from the book. This path was still correct, and he didn't think he needed to make any modifications yet.

It was similar to what he would do if he continued on with his previous life's magic system. The starting process was the only difference.

After his long thought process, Henry looked at the Principal.

The latter was silently watching him.

"I got what I needed."

Henry stood up.

"You're so surprised about that book. Did your master not tell you?"

The Principal squinted his eyes as he looked at him, showing his doubts.

"Yes. My master kept it hidden from me."

Henry casually lied, left the principal's office, and then the tower.

He hurried to his apartment. It was already nearing nighttime. The wind in the academy was starting to cool.

He entered the apartment and found Felicia scribbling on the wall.

"What are you doing?" Henry asked, shocked.

"Master, I can only think of magic circuits now…" Felicia replied with embarrassment.

She looked like a little kid caught scribbling on the wall.

"You need to calm down. You might be old, but you're not going to die at 100 years of age or something. As my disciple, you will have the chance to increase your lifespan."

Henry scolded her. He worried she would become insane because of magic circuits. It would be the first for him, and he didn't want to know what it would be like to have an insane disciple.

"Yes…"

Felicia put down the piece of charcoal she was using to draw on the walls.

Henry took a close look at it and simulated what she made.

"This is…?"

"It's a magic circuit that will explode if a non-human steps into it!" Felicia hurriedly answered.

He looked at her again and realized what she was making this for. She didn't have the capability for revenge before.

Thus, when she understood magic circuits enough, she thought of creating one to kill the hobgoblin that raped her.

But that would only be possible if she made a working one.

"This is garbage!"
