Combining or mixing magic spells required the fourth magus class. Henry was still two away from that. Thus, it would be astronomically difficult even for him to combine two different elements.
Felicia went silent once she heard that they wouldn't be able to immediately do anything against the goblins. She itched to kill them.
"I have another idea. We can smoke them out."
Henry's mind was quick.
Felicia was elated. She instantly knew what to do and started gathering wood around them.
After several minutes of work, a pile of wood covered the entrance to the goblin's nest. To avoid causing a wildfire, Henry used death magic to kill off the surrounding grass.
"Wait, Master. What if they have another entrance?"
Felicia was worried the goblins she hated would escape.
Henry looked at her and nodded. "Go look for them. I'll watch here."
Felicia was a bit afraid, but she overcame that fear and left. It was not the time for her to show her fear.
She was somewhat confident she wouldn't meet other goblins if this were the only entrance.
After running and looking for a while, she didn't find another.
Either there were none, or they were well hidden.
She returned to Henry's side and found him sitting on a boulder, watching the entrance. He calmly stared at the rustling canopies of the trees surrounding him.
Henry turned to her. "You're back."
He already knew the answer just from the look on her face.
"There's none."
"Let's start then. You can burn it."
Henry stood up.
Felicia waved her hand and impatiently burnt the wood with her fire magic. The white staff glowed a reddish hue, giving her a mysterious appearance.
The wood started burning immediately. Because of the smoke's heavy density, it slowly sank into the hole and infiltrated inside.
Of course, not all the smoke sank as most of them were heated and rose up into the atmosphere.
Henry prepared himself and watched for tiny movements. He waited for the goblins to rush out and escape.
Similarly, Felicia did the same.
.
.
Finally, a frantic noise came from within.
KRIEEEEEE!!
A goblin jumped out of the hole, using its body to throw the flaming wood pieces into the air and all over the place. Henry whipped his hand, and a lightning bolt hit the fleeing goblin.
Boom.
The goblin's muscles seized and fell on the ground over the smoldering pieces of wood. Its meat was cooked and sizzled.
Felicia was disgusted as she smelled the fragrance of cooked goblin meat. She conjured a fire spell and bathed the goblin in it.
ARGHHHH!!!
The goblin screamed in anguish and died.
That wasn't the end. The entrance rustled once more, and another goblin rushed out. Behind it were many more.
Henry casually flicked his fingers. Each time, a goblin would seize up and stop on the ground. Felicia used a wind spell and focused the smoke into the entrance.
The thick and oxygen-less smoke infiltrated the nest.
The goblins outside started suffocating. Henry repeatedly shocked them and prevented them from leaving.
It didn't take long as the goblins suffocated under the thick smoke.
The villagers found the courage and gathered a distance away. They watched Henry and Felicia work together to kill off the goblin nest.
"No! My child! H-he might still be alive!"
A panicked mother ran to them. She didn't believe that her child was already dead. She wanted to stop Henry.
He glanced at her and waved his other hand.
A wave of brown energy spread and hit the ground she stepped on. The spell created a hole, and she fell over face-first.
"They're dead. Goblins only keep mature women alive for impregnation," Henry said coldly.
Goblins were a thing of the past, too. During his era, the goblins had less powerful instincts. Besides that, they didn't change much from what he had noticed.
The other villagers came and held the mother down. She kept screaming in denial and tried to push them away.
The sane villagers felt heartbroken seeing her like that. They stopped her because the two magi were killing the goblins for them.
In a matter of ten minutes, a pile of goblins formed at the entrance.
They were all dead. The whole goblin nest had been flooded by the smoke, robbing any goblins of their breath and lives.
"We should be done here."
Henry sighed. He looked at the grieving mother again.
She had already stopped trying and was shedding a waterfall of tears. The other villagers comforted her at the side.
"Thank you…"
The woman who screamed earlier walked forward while covered in a towel. She bowed to Henry and Felicia.
"No problem. I promised myself before I'd kill them all…" Felicia responded with a voice full of hatred.
The woman was surprised and bowed deeper as her respect for Felicia grew.
Meanwhile, Henry stared at the entrance. It was silent.
"Do you want to check if there's any other exit?"
It would be easy for Felicia to check after the smoke entered as they would come out of the other exits if there were any.
"I'll be back!"
Felicia reacted as soon as she comprehended his words. She was more worried about it than the villagers.
…
She came back a couple of minutes later while shaking her head.
"There was none." Felicia smiled.
It was a resounding success. She felt more confident now.
She looked at a nearby dead goblin's body and swore to eradicate them if it was possible
"Good. We have completed the request."
Henry looked at the old man who was watching in the distance. Julia supported him.
Julia nodded her head.
Henry and Felicia walked up to her.
Felicia gave the papers to Julia. She took it and signed that the two finished the request.
"Everyone agrees, right?" Julia asked the others with a smile.
"Yes!"
"Of course!
"Thank you…" the mother responded with a depressed expression.
The eradication of the goblin nest gave her a sense of peace. Although, she would very much like to revive her child if she could.
Julia nodded at Henry and pushed the signed paper to him.
"Thank you on behalf of our village!"
Julia bowed with the old man and the other villagers.
