Henry and Felicia nodded their heads together. Felicia felt a sense of happiness, seeing the smiles and gratitude on their faces.
It gave her a sense of purpose and duty. It was a feeling she felt for the first time in her life.
"Master, let's do more of these kinds of requests," Felicia said.
"Haha! If it's convenient."
Henry didn't readily agree. After all, repeatedly doing this kind of stuff would be boring. He was sure the readers of this novel would agree.
The two were invited to different houses. Many of the villagers wanted to host the two during the night.
Henry quickly chose Julia, whom he met first.
Julia acted like a servant throughout the night. She cooked them food and prepared their beds with care.
...
Morning came, and the duo planned to leave.
"Why don't you two stay for a week?" Julia asked.
She stood in front of the door feeling sad. The two were standing outside and about to leave.
"We're busy," Henry answered.
"It's a great pleasure to stay, but we're busy just like my master said." Felicia smiled at Julia.
Julia made a favorable impression on her. The two of them became casual friends last night.
"You're both welcome to our village in the future."
Julia never expected them to stay, so she felt nothing for the rejection. She waved them goodbye and watched as the two rode a carriage.
"Sigh. So young yet already a magi…"
Julia was envious, but she was a commoner and had no power to change her own future.
…
Henry and Felicia returned to Virtue City by lunchtime.
It was the same time they left. In total, they spent a full day accomplishing the request.
They immediately headed to the City Guild and handed the paperwork, receiving their reward.
Walking the streets, Felicia asked, "Don't you want to buy a magic weapon, Master?"
She was curious. Henry didn't seem to want to get one.
"I'll buy one when I see one I want." Henry waved his hand at her.
Like he thought before, there were none here that suited his taste and ability.
"It's him!"
The two were about to return to the academy when someone recognized them. It was a student of the academy.
"Henry and his disciple!"
The loud voice attracted the attention of the passers-by. They looked over at Henry and were collectively shocked.
The ease with which he passed the exam had already spread to Virtue City. That included the rumor that he was the Principal's illegitimate son.
Whether the last one was true or not didn't matter. The citizens of the city saw Henry as a big shot. He surely had a great future.
"Hi, mister~!"
A group of beautiful young women walked over with their hips swaying and appearing seductive.
The one in the lead was sexy and petite, with an ample chest area. She winked at him and motioned with her hand for him to come closer.
Henry blinked his eyes. The attention was so sudden.
Felicia stood in front of Henry and blocked the prostitutes. She was formerly one so she could recognize them from a mile away. She didn't want her son, who was also her master, to be tainted by them.
"Tch."
The woman in front audibly clicked her tongue and tried to step past Felicia.
With great intensity, Felicia blocked their way and stopped them from getting closer to Henry.
"Ladies, I'm not interested."
Henry shooed them away. He was happy at Felicia for blocking them, but it was unnecessary. He wasn't the romantic or the sexual type.
The only thing in his mind was magic.
The woman was unable to continue further and bit her tongue. She turned around with her small group and left unwillingly.
However, shooing the prostitutes wasn't enough as more citizens became curious.
A crowd soon formed surrounding Henry.
He was starting to become uncomfortable. He didn't like being in so much attention while being weak.
And as if in a queue with his thoughts...
"Attack!"
A loud shout came from within the crowd.
Seven men, fully clothed in black, shot forward. Their hands brimmed with magic. They had discretely chanted their spells while mixing in.
The spells rained down on Henry.
Two lightning spells, three fire spells, and two wind spells. All of which were of the first magus class.
It was a combined team effort to ambush him.
The purpose of the lightning spells was to immobilize him. The fire and wind spells were cast in a way where they would synergize with each other and burn him to a crisp.
Henry sensed the elements of the spells before they could leave the bodies of the ambushers.
He waved his right hand, and a strong wind current blasted around him and Felicia. He then used his left hand and cast two lightning spells to counter.
Bam!
The ambushers thought they would succeed and saw success right before their faces. But Henry's quick reaction robbed them of their chances.
The flames created were sent back, and the weaker winds were canceled out. The ambush was a failure!
The seven men were all thrown backward at the same time. Their backs hit the hard ground, and two fainted.
"Felicia, lightning!"
Felicia reacted immediately. She was too shocked earlier and couldn't respond.
She pointed her staff at the nearest man and shocked him.
Meanwhile, Henry used both of his hands. He used lightning spells to stop them from running away. The shocks made their bodies convulse uncontrollably.
Two students from the academy also reacted and chanted their own spells. They used earth spells and created big rocks and smashed them onto the heads of two, turning them unconscious.
Henry saw their idea and imitated it. He smashed the heads of the ambushers to unconsciousness.
It was unfortunate that he was too weak to kill them. It required the third magus class to be able to kill someone with a single spell.
He could only incapacitate them and hope for the better.
"Halt!!!"
A team of guards rushed into the commotion.
