Chapter 26 - Intimidating Without Intimidating

No one could have expected the spell Henry had used to have such a powerful effect. Although it was a spell that could only cause burns and not kill, it was still unbelievable to see it spread so far.

The Principal swallowed a mouthful of saliva. He was the highest class among the magi in this place, and he could naturally see something that the others couldn't.

A shocked expression formed on his face as he gazed at the dissipating spell. Once the spell was fully gone, he turned to look at Henry.

"You…"

The Principal wanted to say something, but his words were stuck in his throat. He was too stunned to speak. The thoughts inside his head were too chaotic to turn into words.

"My talent is naturally great. My master sent me here to learn about the world. I would like to join the Royal Magic Academy!" Henry shouted and bowed to the Principal.

It was a lie. Henry had no master in this life. In fact, he couldn't even remember his previous master's name!

The crowd took deep breaths, and the way they looked at Henry changed. Envy filled their gazes. It was impossible for them not to think they could be in Henry's place if they had the same master.

It was the natural unwillingness of a human to be inferior to another.

"Y-you really want to?" the Principal asked in disbelief.

He had no idea who the master of this little guy was, but it could be imagined that his master must be from a great origin with powerful abilities. Such a master must be at the fabled Forbidden-class!

It was only a speculation, but that thought caused the Principal to shudder.

"Yes. I want to join with my disciple," Henry said.

"You already have a disciple..?"

The Principal blinked his eyes and looked at Felicia up and down. She was beautiful, but she wasn't that impressive.

"Yes. As you have seen earlier, she can similarly call on the other elemental butterflies! That alone proves her talent," Henry replied, acting calm.

Henry already knew why he didn't have any instinctual memory of this Elemental Butterfly. In his past life, every magus started with a Pure Mortal Body.

It was evident that these Elemental Butterflies reacted greatly to a purer body. Thus, it would have been useless back then.

The Principal reconsidered his prior thoughts about Felicia. She looked old, but he could imagine that she would still have an impressive future once she was able to increase her magus class.

Cockad and the other magus teachers present in the square turned to look at each other. They were a bit skeptical about these two as it was too unbelievable.

"I want to know the name of your master," the Principal said.

"Unfortunately, my master didn't allow me to share her name." Henry shook his head.

Felicia was almost fooled by Henry's acting. She remembered the image he showed her of his appearance in his previous life.

If she hadn't known, she would have thought he was telling the truth right now. It caused her to smile wryly.

"Can I perhaps know the magus class of your master?"

Henry grinned and shook his head then said, "My master once showed me her abilities, but I was not told of her magus class. She was afraid that I would use her to intimidate others."

The Principal looked at Henry weirdly upon hearing his words. If what Henry was doing wasn't intimidating them, then what would count as intimidation?

"I will allow it. If you can pass all your tests, you can stay! You also need to represent us for the upcoming Imperial Magus Gathering."

What the Principal was asking for wasn't too much. Henry frowned a bit to put on a show before looking at the distance, seemingly asking someone for permission.

The Principal and the Magus Teachers naturally noticed Henry's gaze and looked in that direction. They couldn't see anyone, but they could somehow feel that someone was there.

Of course, no one was there in reality. It was all in their minds. It was too easy for Henry to lead them around like geese.

"I can do that," Henry replied. He pretended he didn't just 'look' at his master.

"Good! Come with me. Don't bother the other exam takers anymore," the Principal said then waved his hand.

Henry waved his hand, and the butterflies scattered away. His and Felicia's figures were revealed to everyone.

Only those magi with a high enough class could vaguely see the two earlier. Thus, many exclamations came from the crowd. Many were surprised at Felicia's age.

"Don't you think he looks handsome?" a young girl asked her girl best friend.

"He looks ugly, so don't take him! He's mine."

"…"

Henry heard them and couldn't help but be taken aback at the praise and insult of the two. He shook his head with a light smile and walked to the building the Principal was in.

Felicia tailed behind him. She became fidgety due to the attention given to the two of them. She wasn't used to being looked at like this, especially by many esteemed figures.

The door to the building opened, and the Principal graciously invited the two of them in.

"Come. This is the Principal's Tower. Follow me to my office."

Henry nodded his head and didn't say anything much. He curiously looked around at the walls where paintings of various people were placed. They had their titles written below when they were still alive.

"Those are the previous principals of this academy. All of them have reached Lord-class, and a few managed to exceed that," the Principal calmly explained while he walked ahead.

Henry stared at the back of the Principal. He was old and a little chubby, and he looked kind on the surface. It was hard for Henry to deduce the class of this Principal.

The difficulty in doing so made Henry wonder if it was because the magic system of this era was different.

They arrived at the Principal's office. It was rather large and spacious, almost like a library. There were tall shelves of books containing tomes of magic.

"Can I come here to read?" Henry asked.

His curiosity was at the highest it had ever been since he reincarnated. The books here could tell him greatly about the current details of the magic system.

Henry was wondering if he was wrong. It was also quite possible that they lost some magic classes but grew stronger. The possibilities were endless, so Henry was eager for answers.

"You need a lot of merit to read here. You will understand next week at the academy orientation."

Henry nodded his head and sat on the chair in front of the principal's desk. Felicia sat on the chair opposite of him.

"From now on, the two of you are disciples of the Treesap Royal Magic Academy by the special authority given to me!" the Principal grandiosely declared as soon as he sat.
