Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Chapter 2: First Sign of Magic

"Princess? Rhea? Wr-wrong number. I am Sarah and -"

"Princess, forgive me for cutting in between but I must stop this from happening. I am Phileas, servant to the royal Rokav family. I am here to protect you and you must not touch the heir of Ankur."

"What in the world is going on? What sort of random order is this and why should I even bother to listen to you?" exclaimed Jake and attempted to take a hold of Sarah's hand.

To this Phileas swiftly ran up to him, and producing a white sword out of thin air, pointed it at Jake's throat. But that is not what shocked Sarah, because in return to that action, Jake himself held a knife at Phileas.

"Where did that come from?" muttered Cindy in sheer horror.

"From here, darling," and Jake produced another knife in a manner as though right out of his heart.

The rivals held their gazes for a while and then backed up. Phileas pulled Sarah over to a side, still frozen by the intense drama. Jake leaned on the wall with his right foot placed on it, while with his left hand he caused the knives to vanish again as if though they did not even exist a second ago.

"You're really pathetic Phileas. You have no idea. How long will you shelter her like this and blame me for it?"

"As long as I live, Brave."

"Well, I guess this is what I have been training for the past seven years. This is turning out to be very interesting".

"You think you can win this way? She is the chosen one, not you!"

"Yeah, and what's a chosen one without powers?" Jake waited for a response, "Nothing".

Phileas grit his teeth and took Sarah by the hand, but she quickly snatched it away, "I don't trust you, yet," and she dashed off inside the classroom.

Jake watched her run off before turning back to Phileas. When their gaze met, he shrugged his shoulders to show that he failed to make any difference and walked away. The crowd, which had gathered during Phileas' entry, began to chatter in soft whispers until Phileas finally decided to disappear through the same gate of light he had appeared through.

Inside the classroom, Sarah sat at her seat looking down at her palms. What's a chosen one without powers? Chosen one? Powers? What is going on? Who is that strange winged man and how does Jake know magic tricks as dangerous as pulling a knife out of nowhere? The questions puzzled her, making her feel dizzy. She let out a soft moan and let her forehead rest on the table. I am no princess or Rhea or whatever. I am an ordinary high school girl and this is all a dream. I will wake up any second now... 1... 2...3...

"Princess, you must believe".

She jumped up from her resting position to find Phileas sitting cross legged on a table next to her. He did not have his wings this time and wore casual clothing, a pale yellow t-shirt and a pair of jeans. But his white hair still made him stand out.

"You are the Rokav princess and I am your servant".

Sarah looked at his face for a while. The dark eyes were not joking and his face was firm. This is serious matter.

"I cannot believe unless I know what is going on in full details. You cannot just expect me to believe I am some sort of royal figure after being brought up in an ordinary household for the past sixteen years of my life".

"I understand. Have you ever wondered why your parents don't talk about your birth?"

Sarah frowned but before she could utter another word, Phileas was gone.

I shall leave it at this. I have no right to tell it to her myself. It is her family who will tell her.
