"GRRRRRRR…" A drooling three-headed giant dog in front of me growled.
*Mom, dad….the dogs here are terrifying!* I trembled as I held up the sword.
*Wait, I don't even know how to wield it…shit! Can't this body just autopilot or something??*
The Cerberus roared loudly, shaking the air around it with the amplitude before dashing towards me hungrily, baring its sharp fangs. Its eyes shone with menace and killing intent, causing me to feel like a newborn fawn.
In a flash, or as what I imagined it, the Cerberus is only a meter away, taking aim and launched at me. In desperation, I swung up the sword, using the power from my adrenaline rush. Even yelling to add on some extra power, "RAGGHHHHH!"
SWISHHH—
As if I'm used to it, the sword made a perfect slashing trajectory.
*It's…light...?*
Gooey, purple blood splashed. One of the head was slaughtered!
"WOAH! I'M HELLA STRONG?!" I exclaimed at the unexpected overpowered mechanism.
Well, the entity did say that I'm the protagonist, after all. Maybe I got an MC buff? Awesome!
"GRRRRRR…..WAURGHH!!!"
The giant dog barked, grimacing over its injuries. The severed head rolled on the ground while the Cerberus steadied itself, ready to pounce yet again.
"If this is how it is, then….haha…" I felt a grin spreading from ear to ear.
"COME HERE, YOU MUTT!" I yelled from the top of my lungs. Does it think that it's the only one who can shake the ground by its voice? Hell, I was the best singer in town back then!
*No, you weren't—* the entity in my head tried to deny it but I'm too occupied at the moment.
"I'LL MAKE A SKEWER OUTTA YOU!" My sword pointed straight to the big ass dog.
I was confident, excited, even.
The two headed Cerberus sped towards me again. I also dashed forward with might, raising my sword swiftly before slashing its front legs. I could hear its whimpers of pain, limping backwards to save itself. Alas, I took it as a chance to slash off its middle head, too. With only a single head left intact and the hind legs to stand on, the Cerberus immediately crashed onto the ground, bleeding to death. Hence, with the kind heart of mine, I stabbed it to shorten its misery.
"Rest in peace, puppy," I wished before pulling my sword back out.
"Come to think of it, can't I use magic?? Not that I'm ungrateful but having magic will make it a lot easier."
After a short silence, entity's voice rang in my head yet again, replying rather listlessly, *….find out by yourself,* and ended with the sound of yawning.
Even during its appearance, I noticed that the entity actually got quite the attitude. I actually found it rather odd at first, but somehow managed to get into term with it. However, it doesn't change the fact that it's annoying.
"Tch, fine. Good thing that at least the body is strong enough."
Despite covered in a metal armour, I could imagine the well-toned muscles of the body. Not to mention how easy it is to move in her agile body. The hands were rough with calluses, showing her experiences. Plus, she's got this sturdy built of a warrior.
"Sorry, Catherine. I'll borrow this strong body of yours for a while. Not like I want to, but I had to."
After a long sigh that I dragged for as long as possible, I stabbed the Cerberus' heart yet again and dug around, pulling out a magic stone that's as big as a fist.
"Sweet, I'll sell it later!" I tucked it securely in my pocket.
The area was clear. No monsters seen nearby, nor is there any human, either. Should I find the other troops?
"Oh, yeah, I don't even know how Catherine looks like…"
My eyes wandered around and stopped on a puddle of water. I walked towards it and leaned over for my reflection. Touching the face, I turned slightly to the left and right before confirming that it really is mine. My eyes widened.
"Hey, entity…is that me?"
Black, shoulder-length hair with grey eyes, seems to be in her early twenties, nothing's wrong, really….it's just that…I look extremely common.
"…..don't protagonists usually look gorgeous? I got the complete set of eyes, nose and mouth, alright…. BUT I LOOK LIKE A FREAKIN' VILLAGER 1!" I groaned in frustration.
Maybe I expected too much.
*Your original look doesn't differ by lot, though. Still an average Joe,* entity snickered.
"There's no need to say the last part, is there?" I got annoyed by its given remarks.
However, there's truth in entity's claim. Catherine does resembles me, except that she's a lot fitter.
"Putting the look aside, she's got a perfect body for combat. She must've worked hard…" I muttered to myself, deep down feeling slightly guilty for taking over the body.
*Unlike that certain someone who just locked themselves up in their apartment. Growing their belly like some old geeze—*
"Woah, now. Are you looking for a fight?!" I got even more pissed at the sassy entity.
"Seriously, what are you actually? Can't you like, give me the game-windows thing that shows my status or anything similar?" I inquired, trying to sound polite in case the entity could actually come handy.
From the view of others, I must've looked like a crazy Villager 1 talking to herself.
*…what I am is not important…and windows? You're asking for too much, seriously,* it sighed.
*How useless,* I thought.
Having its ego hurt, entity replied almost immediately, sounding furious,*I'm not useless!*
Shrugging nonchalantly, I scoffed back at it, "I didn't say it out loud, did I? You dumb entity."
While crossing the barren ground, I took in the miserable view. Seems like the curse from the demon king is so strong that it turned the lush Kingdom of Edesia into something so infertile. The war field looked like a few weeks had passed from the starting of the Scourge, maybe even months! The land is filled with mountains of corpses, both humans and monsters.
"Shit... what can I do at this rate?" I clenched my fist in frustration.
Somehow, I am so enraged with this sight. I read the story, yet fate went against me and sent me so late. I am no god nor am I some overpowered beings. I'm just yet another knight of a march, seeing the family emblem on my left chest.
"Hey. entity….at least tell me the last chapters I didn't finish. Or just tell me…what should I do now...?" I gritted my teeth.
Why am I so upset? They're just a character in a novel I read. However, seeing this view just pissed me off!
*Skill 2: Foresight activated.* It rang in my head before suddenly, my eyes turned white with light.
A vision appeared.
