"Um...who were you talking to just now?" Knight 1 asked reluctantly.
Yeah, they should be labelled with numbers, too.
I thought for a while before answering.
"I just have this hobby…to talk to myself, haha. Oh, well, gotta go now!" I turned around and dashed away.
"Wai—"
Too bad I already went out of sight. I'm a busy one, after all. I ran through the wilted forest, where I saw the Arachnor in my vision. Finally, the knights that struggled against the spider beasts could be sighted.
*Ugh…those looks disgusting!*
The spiders are the size of a dog, its hairy features are very apparent now. Hundreds of red eyes embedded on its head, while two mandibles stuck on its upper lip like a pair of saw. They moved in pack, flooding the space like a black tsunami. Without a warning, one of them shoots its acidic web right towards me.
"EEEKK!"
I barely avoided it with the help of my wind attribute. My heart beat so fast at the near death situation that made even my pupils shook. A hole had been formed at the tree trunk right behind of me.
*Gosh…that could've been the end of this story!* I looked back at it in shock.
'The Arachnor's natural enemy is the Scalethorn. Upon sight, it will cause the destruction of both sides'
A sentence from 'Blade of the Unwanted' popped into my mind. I may not know of the ending, but I still remember the contents. These monsters had appeared before and I'm sure they know of the fact , too!
"Everyone, stop fighting it and run to the West! I saw a group of Scalethorns there!" I shouted from the distance.
By the way, why is this one specific spider kept on aiming at me? I avoided yet another web-attack before glaring at the cheeky spider. I could've sworn that the mandibles moved as if it was laughing.
The knights, on the other hand, were a bit confused once they heard me. Maybe they are wondering about who the hell is that random, common looking woman that suddenly gave them orders? Thankfully, they didn't refute and began to withdraw to the West.
Half of the knights were wind attributes. Only wind attributes can move as swift and fast. Some of the fire attributes threw fire balls towards the group of spiders tailing after us, causing it to slow down. The earth attribute made a straight wall at the side of the path to keep the Arachnors in the same route. All of these were coordinated by a single man, who I assumed to be the division leader, seeing the tad bit difference of his armour.
You may be wondering, why would they lead the beast to keep chasing after our heels? Well, making them follow us is like killing two birds with one stone. Just let the Scalethorns do the job later. For now, each and every one of the knights worked together relentlessly to get through the dash of doom.
What about me, you ask? Of course I'm just running away right now.
*The info is enough, they'll live somehow.*
*You're so pathetic,* condemned entity.
"Buzz off," I grumbled, still running towards the West along with the knights.
Finally, we managed to sight the group of car-sized lizard with thorns on their back. A natural enemy of the spiders, the Scalethorns. Without wasting any time, we dashed straight towards it. I mean, I did.
"Up!" Ordered the division leader.
The wind attributes then jumped and activated their 'flying' skills. Yes, wind attributes can fly, although not for long. They also carried the other knights that can't fly.
*Hey, entity….* I was still running.
"I DON'T KNOW HOW TO FLY YET, DAMNIT!!"
Current, I'm almost trapped in between the spiders and the lizards. Acidic web rains from behind me while thorns flew like spears from the front. This is a disaster, a disaster by no doubt!
"F—k," I cursed.
*Plot armour activated: Flying skill acquired.*
I desperately jumped and managed to stay afloat above the clashing beasts. I could feel the relief surging through me, knowing that I could still see the light—maybe not now but later on, when the Scourge had ended.
"That was close…phew…" I let my guard down slightly on air.
*Plot armour left: 3. You used it way too fast,* it sighed, as if disappointed.
"Well, it's there to be used, isn't it?" I rolled my eyes.
*You're hopeless.*
"Oh, yeah? Say whatever."
While I was busy exchanging 'friendly' remarks with entity like a schizophrenic patient, two men approached me, one is carrying the other by the arms. The one dangling is by no doubtthe efficient division leader from before.
"Dame Catherine?" The division leader called hesitantly.
*Huh? Do they know me??*
"It's really you! Our army had been scattered all over since the Scourge. It's very delightful to have you back!" He exclaimed as he took off his helmet.
The division leader seems eager to exchange greetings but I can't help feeling slightly awkward, talking to a dangling person. Not to mention the peaking monster's battle that's taking place right underneath us as we speak.
"Oh, indeed. A few weeks had passed, after all." I nodded, trying to look unbothered.
Dark red hair with a pair of bright blue eyes—resembling the summer's ocean. Slight scar on his right chiseled jaw that's barely there but still noticeable. A smile that stays almost permanently decorating his face, making him pleasant to look at. He's got that sharp features, but his cheery attitude made it looks softer and gentler. His golden retriever vibe even in such a dire situation proved my guess of who he is.
*Another side character! Nice, me!* I thought.
A knight from the Leonhart march,the abandoned third son of Viscount Everglen. Arthur Everglen, also the closest with our MC. Hence, of course my first question would be;
"Do you perhaps know of the Marquess' whereabouts?"
I've been dying to see the MC, who is now known as the Marquess Lucius Leonhart. I mean, who wouldn't want to see the MC of a story they love? Might as well use this god-given chance to do so!
