Kai calmed himself as the portal to the Roman Pantheon solidified before him. It shimmered like molten gold, pulsing with an energy that spoke of conquest and discipline. Taking a deep breath, he stepped forward, preparing for what lay before him.
The transition was immediate. He emerged into a vast amphitheater, the colossal stone structure resembling the Colosseum. Marble statues of Roman gods and goddesses lined the upper rim, their expressions wary and judgmental. The air buzzed with anticipation, as if an invisible audience were filling the arena.
A booming voice echoed through the amphitheater, echoing in Kai's chest. "Welcome, Kai, to the court of Rome." The voice belonged to Jupiter, King of the Gods, who stood in the center of the arena. His towering figure radiated authority, his lightning bolts flashing with electric brilliance.
Beside him were Mars, the god of war, clad in red armor with a spear in hand, and Minerva, the goddess of wisdom and strategy, her sharp gaze assessing Kai like a tactician assessing a warrior.
"You come seeking the power of the Roman Pantheon," Mars declared, his voice commanding. "But to wield it, you must prove yourself. In this arena, strength alone will not suffice. Discipline, strategy, and determination will be the keys to your victory."
Minerva nodded, stepping closer. Her calm yet piercing gaze met Kai's. "Three trials await you, Kai. Each will test the virtues held sacred by the Romans. Only by mastering them all can you claim our blessing."
Kai nodded, gripping the Aetherium Ring tightly. "I am ready."
The ground shook, and a section of the arena floor split open. From the darkness below emerged a terrifying creature—Cacus, a fire-breathing giant. His skin was rough as stone, his teeth bared. Flames blazed in his gaping mouth as he roared, shaking the foundations of the arena.
Mars stepped forward, his spear gleaming in the sunlight. "Your first test: withstand Cacus's wrath. Show us the courage to face overwhelming power."
Kai took a deep breath, bracing himself as Cacus charged. Each step shook the ground, and the giant swung his massive club with devastating force. Kai rolled to the side just in time, the club slamming into the arena floor and sending shards of stone flying.
"Stay calm," Enlil's voice whispered in his mind. "Courage is not about rushing headlong into danger. It is about holding on and attacking with purpose."
Kai kept his distance while he summoned the Fortitude shiled on his left arm, weaving between the towering pillars of the arena as Cacus pursued him. The giant let out a blast of fire, the heat so intense it burned Kai's robes. Sweat dripped down his face, but he refused to give in.
As the creature's movements slowed, Kai saw his opening. He dashed forward, ducking under a wild swing of his shield and hit at Cacus's leg. The giant roared in pain but remained standing. Kai struck again, targeting weak spots with precision.
Finally, with a deafening crash, Cacus fell to his knees. Kai jumped onto the giant's back, smashing his shield into Cacus' neck. The monstrous figure collapsed, and fell limply.
Mars nodded in approval. "You have endured and triumphed. The first test is complete."

Minerva stepped forward, her expression calm but dignified. "The second test requires your mind, not your sword. Strategy is the foundation of victory."
The arena shifted, transforming into a battlefield divided into two camps. Opposite Kai stood a squad of ghostly Roman soldiers, their shields locked in perfect testudo formation.
"Lead your troops to victory," Minerva ordered, gesturing to a small group of ethereal soldiers that had materialized behind Kai. They looked at her expectantly, waiting for orders.
Kai swallowed. "This is not a fight I can win alone," he thought.
He turned to his ghostly troops, noting their lighter armor and swift movements. "We cannot face them head-on," he muttered. "We must defeat them."
He analyzed the battlefield, noting the terrain and the enemy formations. The ghostly soldiers moved with mechanical precision, their shields impenetrable. Kai glanced at his own troops. "Split into two groups," he ordered. "Surround them from both sides. Force them to adjust their formation."
The soldiers obeyed, surrounding the enemy. As the opposing legions shifted to counter the flanking maneuver, Kai led the third group in a direct assault, exploiting the momentary gap. The battlefield erupted into chaos. Kai's quick strategy overwhelmed the enemy, their disciplined formations falling apart.
Minerva smiled faintly, stepping forward as the battlefield dispersed. "You understand the value of intelligence over brute strength. The second test is complete."

Jupiter stepped forward, his lightning bolts radiating latent power. "The final test, Kai, is a test of virtue. To wield our power, you must prove your loyalty to justice and honor."
The arena shifted again, this time to the majestic Roman forum. In the center stood a trembling figure—a young man bound in chains. Shadowy figures surrounded him, their voices demanding his execution.
"This boy is accused of treason," Jupiter explained. "The evidence convicts him, but the truth is uncertain. Your task is to decide his fate. Will you act with haste or with wisdom?"
Kai approached the boy, whose wide eyes were filled with fear. "Tell me your story," he said softly.
The boy stammered, "I-I was framed. I swear on my life I betrayed no one."
Kai turned to the crowd. "Where is your proof?"
The shadowy figure stepped forward, holding out a blood-stained dagger. "This was found in his possession."
Kai frowned, examining the dagger. Something was odd—the dagger was too clean, too comfortable to place.
Enlil's voice echoed in his mind. "Look beyond appearances, Kai. Justice is about uncovering the truth, not giving in to the clamor of the crowd."
Kai pieced together the inconsistencies, facing the shadowy figure. "This dagger is not used in evil. It is a trap."
The crowd murmured, and the shadow vanished, revealing the boy's innocence. Jupiter's stern expression softened.
"You have chosen justice over comfort," the god declared. "You are worthy."

The gods gathered before Kai, their forms radiating power and approval. Jupiter raised his thunderbolt, and golden lightning struck the ground around Kai, enveloping him in a brilliant aura.
"You have faced a test of courage, strategy, and virtue," Jupiter said. "The power of Rome is yours to command. Use it with honor."
Kai felt the Aetherium Ring glow, a new wave of energy flowing through him. He bowed deeply. "Thank you. I will not fail."
As the light faded, Kai found himself back in the chamber of the Legion Academy.
Enlil's voice echoed in his mind, filled with pride. "Surprisingly, you finished the trials so quick."
Kai clenched his fists, determination burning in his eyes. "I am ready."
