Chereads / Elder War / Chapter 26 - Attack on Akhekh

Chapter 26 - Attack on Akhekh

The battlefield erupted into a maelstrom of chaos as thousands of demon soldiers surged forward, their grotesque forms charging with a ferocious hunger for destruction. At their helm, the colossal elder dragon, Akhekh, loomed like a harbinger of doom. Explosions echoed through the air as energy blasts collided with the Nano Shield 4.0, the barrier rippling with cascading waves of energy upon impact.

"Everyone!" Evan gave them the command. "Fire!"

The Nano Shield held firm against the initial onslaught, its adaptive algorithms adjusting to the varying types of attacks. The Vanguard armies met the demon troops head-on, unleashing a barrage of energy projectiles and wielding blades infused with technologically enhanced might. The clash of weapons and the brilliance of energy discharges illuminated the darkness, creating a scene of frenzied combat.

Akhekh's massive form advanced with a calculated determination. With each strike, the dragon's claws raked against the Nano Shield, sending tremors rippling across its surface. The generals watched as the energy lattice absorbed and deflected the blows, the intricate design shifting and adapting to the relentless assault.

As the battle raged on, the resilience of Akhekh's attacks began to take its toll on the Nano Shield. The barrier's luminous energy fluctuated, displaying signs of strain under the relentless onslaught. Despite its advanced technology and sophisticated defense mechanisms, the shield faced a challenge unlike any it had encountered before.

Explosions erupted as Akhekh unleashed bursts of fiery energy, testing the limits of the Nano Shield's energy modulation. The generals exchanged tense glances, their hearts heavy with the weight of the battle's outcome. The war's intensity was palpable, each moment carrying the weight of their city's fate.

Akhekh's roars reverberated across the battlefield, its determination unyielding. With a surge of power, the elder dragon's claws collided with the Nano Shield one final time. The barrier's energy shimmered and wavered before yielding to the immense force of the attack. The generals watched in grim realization as cracks appeared in the once-impenetrable shield.

"This is not good, sir." The officer informed the generals. "You order, sir?"

"Evacuate the citizen," Dominic commanded, "Make sure everyone is safe, prioritize women and children, NOW!"

"Sir, yes sir!" The officer informed all the officers in the city.

An explosion of energy erupted, the shockwave rippling outward and engulfing the immediate vicinity. The Nano Shield shattered, its brilliance fading as fragments of energy dissipated into the air. The breach in the defense was a glaring vulnerability, leaving the Vanguard armies exposed to the demon horde's unrelenting assault.

The battle reached a crescendo of chaos, with demon soldiers surging forward to exploit the opening in the shield. The Vanguard armies fought back with unyielding resolve, their determination matched only by the ferocity of their enemies. Explosions, flashes of energy, and the clash of metal filled the air, painting a vivid picture of the struggle for survival.

As the night got darker, the battle remained a furious tempest. Mayor Captains fought side by side, leading their troops with a determination to protect their city at all costs. The memory of the shattered Nano Shield served as a grim reminder of the forces they faced, urging them to stand resolute in the face of adversity.

The demon troops kept on attacking to make the attention of the soldiers lured away from Akhekh. Captains and the Vanguard tried to attack Akhekh as much as they could, but Akhekh was too strong for the attack. It flew through the city, to create some distraction over the city.

"Don't let that thing get away!" Sofia commanded the Vanguards.

The soldiers tried to attack Akhekh, hoping it would at least fall down immediately. Akhekh took the attack like it was nothing but an air to it. The dragon continued to fly above them. General Dominic noticed it was too late, so he ordered the command center to send the reinforcement to the city.

"Send the reinforcement to the city now," Dominic commanded as the other generals looked at the screen.

"Immediately, sir," The officer followed the command.

The resonating signal of chaos echoed through the city, reaching the ears of Kai and Alethea as they stood amidst the tranquil surroundings of the Jakarta Eco Park. Kai's instincts immediately kicked in, recognizing the urgency of the situation. He turned to Alethea with a determined look in his eyes.

"What's that?" Alethea heard the signal.

"Alethea, we need to get to the city quickly," Kai said urgently. "That signal could be from the Battalion. There might be something bad happened."

Alethea's expression shifted from curiosity to concern as she grasped the gravity of the situation. Without a second thought, she nodded in agreement. "Let's go, Kai. We need to find a safe place."

They wasted no time as they rushed back towards the city, their pace quick and determined. The peacefulness of the Eco Park now seemed worlds away as the distant sounds of chaos grew louder with every step. Kai's mind raced with thoughts of the potential threat the city faced, and he couldn't shake the feeling that this was no ordinary attack. Both of them heard the announcement from the emergency team that all the citizens needed to evacuate quickly.

[To all citizens, Please evacuate quickly, the city is under attack... please evacuate quickly... I repeat the city is under attack, please evacuate quickly...]

As they approached the city, the scene that unfolded before them was one of pandemonium. Akhekh's massive form dominated the skyline, his monstrous presence casting a shadow over the once-bustling streets. Panic-stricken citizens scrambled in all directions, seeking refuge and safety from the approaching threat. Police and armies valiantly fought against the elder dragon's onslaught, their weapons and courage put to the ultimate test.

Kai and Alethea exchanged a determined look as they took in the chaotic scene. Without hesitation, they joined the efforts to aid the evacuation. Kai's heart pounded with a mixture of fear and determination as he channeled his inner strength. He knew he had to help in any way he could.

As they helped guide terrified citizens to safety, the ground trembled beneath their feet with each powerful stride of Akhekh. The dragon's deafening roars reverberated through the city, adding to the atmosphere of impending disaster. The sight of the immense creature fueled Kai's determination even further.

In the chaotic situation, Kai and Alethea saw the ranks of the police and soldiers, working together to create barriers and divert the citizens to safe zones. Kai's gaze briefly met Alethea's, and they exchanged a nod of understanding. Their actions spoke volumes, as they stood united in their determination to find somewhere safe.

Before Kai and Alethea moved away from where they stood, a voice resonated in Kai's mind. Enlil was reaching out to him with a sense of urgency and purpose.

"Kai," Enlil's voice echoed in his thoughts, "there is a way to fight that. You have the power to face him."

Kai's heart pounded as he absorbed Enlil's words. He knew that the situation was dire, and if there was a chance to break the hold over Akhekh, he had to take it.

"But how?" Kai mentally responded, his determination evident in his thoughts. "What can I do?"

Enlil's presence surrounded him, guiding his thoughts with clarity. "You must use Whitestar and the aetherium ring. They are the keys to breaking the control that binds it."

Kai's mind raced as he processed Enlil's instructions. Whitestar and the aetheriym ring, these were the weapons of legend, each possessing its own unique power. He knew that using them together could create an unstoppable force.

Gritting his teeth and drawing upon his newfound strength, Kai turned to Alethea, his eyes focused and resolute.

"Alethea, I will fight that thing, you need to find a safe place to hide," he urged, his voice laced with concern. "This isn't safe for you. Please, go with the others."

"What?" Alethea was shocked and afraid of his decision. "Kai, this is out of our league. Are you out of mind!?"

"I need to do this," Kai showed his determination. "I have a plan."

"NO!" Alethea insisted. "We are not capable of this."

"Trust me!" Kai raised his voice. "I need to do this, you go with the others for the safety."

However, Alethea's response was immediate and unwavering. She looked at Kai with an intensity that matched his own, her eyes reflecting a determination that rivaled his.

"No, Kai," she said firmly. "I'm not leaving your side. We'll face this together."

Kai's brows furrowed in worry, torn between wanting to keep Alethea safe and understanding her insistence. He reached out to gently grasp her hand, his grip gentle yet firm. "Look it is not..."

Before Kai could finish his words, she immediately cut him, "No! I can fight too."

"Alethea, I can't bear the thought of anything happening to you," he admitted, his voice filled with a mixture of emotions.

Alethea's grip on his hand tightened as she nodded, her eyes unwavering. "I promise, Kai, I can fight too."

Kai's heart swelled with a mixture of emotions as he looked at the determined young woman by his side. He knew he couldn't dissuade her, and deep down, he admired her courage. Together, they faced the uncertainty of the situation, bound by a shared determination to protect each other and those around them.

Enlil's voice resonated in Kai's mind, guiding him through the chaotic scene before him. "Kai, there's a way to further weaken that monster. I am sure it's under someone's control. You need to find some object mechanism that control it."

"Wait what? how?" Kai asked Enlil further. "That would impossible."

Enlil's voice echoed in Kai's mind with renewed urgency. "Kai, focus your attention on it's face. There's something unnatural there – a focal point of control. You need to get closer to identify it,"

Kai nodded, his determination unwavering. He looked at Alethea, conveying their next steps without words. Together, they began to advance cautiously toward Akhekh, their movements synchronized in their shared purpose.

As they drew nearer, Kai's gaze scrutinized every detail of Akhekh's immense form. Enlil's guidance was clear – they needed to find the source of the control and disrupt it.

Enlil's voice continued, guiding Kai through the tense moments. "Look for anything that stands out – an object, an energy signature, anything that seems out of place on his face. That's the key to breaking the control."

Kai's heart raced as he and Alethea closed the distance. His eyes locked onto Akhekh's massive head, and he noticed a faint shimmer near the dragon's forehead. It was subtle, almost imperceptible, but there was a definite anomaly.

"There," Kai murmured to Enlil, pointing subtly toward the shimmering spot on Akhekh's forehead. "That's what we need to target."

"Good," Enlil said. "Time to use the weapons."
