Chapter 2 - Raven's Flight

"I don't see that as a problem. But your dateline is a year to make this kid worth my efforts. If she isn't at least a Prince rank by the end of the year, I'll dish out my punishments. Dismissed," thundered Beast as he walked out of the door.

As everyone got up to leave, Venom went close to Raven for one last insult but was stopped by Beast beckoning him to the corner of the room. Wolf didn't like how Beast was always close to Venom, but it was none of his concern.

"It looks like you'll be absent for an entire year... Never thought you'd be gone for so long for such a small matter," complained Serpent as he cracked his spine.

"Not as if I can do anything about it, right? Besides, it's a nice getaway from this side of the planet. And away from that Poisoned thing," replied Raven as he stretched out.

It would be Raven's first time heading to the other side of the world, and he had to admit, he was a bit intimidated. But the man had a mission to do. As he walked out, Wolf grabbed Raven and pulled him aside. Luckily, Beast took no heed to the sudden movement.

Wolf was the High King of Germany, slightly smaller than Raven, with longer hair of the same color—a medium-sized, plump man.

But Wolf was much stronger than Raven regarding muscle mass and strength, so poor Raven nearly flew into the wall when Wolf yanked him away.

"Eh?"

"Sorry, I can't let anyone hear us talk. I want to warn you about something over there, on the other side of the world," whispered Wolf while Raven tried to regain his balance.

"If it's such a pressing issue, why did you not warn us during the meeting? And you didn't pull me so hard; I thought I would meet my maker before my lover," asked Raven.

"Because we don't have much evidence on them. They are called the Syndicate, and they've been capturing some of our members from the Asian continent."

Raven wanted to protest, but then he knew that Beast wouldn't mobilize or take action unless it became a huge issue. And members vanishing isn't uncommon in areas where a High King doesn't rule.

"Out of the forty people I've sent to scout that area, only five returned to me. I don't know who was the one who killed all of them, but I suspect it was the Syndicate," explained Wolf as he passed Raven a letter that bared the seal stamp of Wolf's Pack.

"Good luck and stay alert, old pal," said Wolf as he walked away.

"You too; I hope that new project comes along well," commented Raven.

And let's hope we'd both meet alive and well again soon, thought the two Mafians.

Thus, Raven boarded a 13-hour flight from the Headquarters in Germany to Singapore to do his task from the Grand King. And between the turbulence and bad airplane food, Raven analyzed the letter given by a hound from Wolf's department.

First, the handwriting was atrocious, so reading it already gave Raven a massive migraine. Second, the letter's contents were worrisome. According to the report, the Syndicate was formed by a group of Southeast Asians to combat the governments there.

From the limited knowledge that Raven had about the other side of the world, he knew that the government was stringent compared to where he was used to. Things like same-sex love were frowned upon, and gender reassignment was forbidden.

Thus, it makes sense that a spinoff of the Mafia would be prevalent there. The Syndicate's work over there was almost the same as the Mafia with drug dealing and gambling, but they focused on collecting debt and taking down big political enemies.

However, a big thing that stood out to Raven was that all members were noted to be at least beyond their twenties, far off from a kid. And they were all guys, no sign of a female. Another thing to note was that the Syndicate hated the people from the other side of the world.

But why hurt our people? So far, no Mafians have ever heard or even cared about this small group, so why? Raven read a bit more and then pulled out Beast's report about his target.

After noticing some critical similarities between the two documents, Raven sighed and wanted to laugh but was afraid to scare the poor occupants onboard. Everything that the hound had written was vividly documented in Beast's report.

Their ' monster ' was a kid with twin braids and glasses who wore a brown pinafore and carried a strawberry backpack. How bad could she possibly be? The child that killed three gangs at once in a single night by slicing their throats was not a Syndicate member.
