Chapter 14 - 14. CRACKS

Clarissa walked by the elevator in the middle of the castle. There was hustle and bustle around her as everyone was getting ready for the wedding party which was to be held tomorrow evening. She had been spending her whole day with the event management team and security team. This time the security team during the wedding party was headed by Lucas and for the outer city border, they had placed Serena in charge. After Clarissa had made sure everything was in order she was now heading to the guest wing to check up on the Aurelia. Although she was tired of running around she still took it upon her to check on them. Everything that Clarissa had spent her day doing could have been done by servants or maids but Clarissa had always had this inkling inside her that she had to oversee everything or even do everything by herself because in her head no one could do things the way she could do them. She was a bit of a perfectionist and she was also well aware of the fact that she was like that but even if she tried to hold herself back it still bothered her. She finally gave up and started doing things by herself.

"Hold it." She heard a male voice say as she held the elevator door open and Theon walked in, he nodded his head lightly as he said thank you to her.

Clarissa has not talked to Theon much. She has also not come face to face with him during the war. She had never even stood this close to her. Her only conversation with him was when she went to the Aurelia castle and that was pretty unpleasant.

"You're heading to the guest's wing?" She asked.

"Yeah." He gave her a short reply.

"I'm headed there too." She said and he nodded.

The elevator was slowly heading toward the ground floor and they both stayed in an awkward silence. Clarissa was a little intimidated by his overall presence unlike Agathon, Theon was much bigger in stature, he was taller and a buffer. His silver colored wavy hair was pulled up in a bun complementing his jawline perfectly. His crimson eyes filled with boredom as he waited for the elevator. Clarissa noticed that, unlike Agathon's soft and mild personality, Theon seemed much more rugged and harsh.

Theon cleared his throat as Clarissa realized she had been staring for far too long him. She took out her phone and started pretending to scroll through it. After a few moments, Theon finally broke the silence.

"Tell me." He said gaining her attention. "Are you planning on killing my brother?" He asked and Clarissa paused for a moment in shock.

"Why would I want to kill him when I got married to him to stop the bloodshed?" Clarissa replied as he chuckled lightly under his breath.

Theon moved forward as he pushed the emergency stop button. The elevator came to a sudden halt as he turned to her and looked down at her. His red eyes beamed with a hint of rage as he watched her.

"Do you think I am a joke?" He asked as he stepped forward. "You think that I am just brawl, no brain?" Another step forward. Clarissa took a step back as he kept stepping on. "You think that I am swayed by the good wife role you're playing?" He took another step and now Clarissa's back had hit a wall. There was no more space.

He leaned forward getting closer to her, he moved to her ear as he softly whispered, "Kill him." He said as her eyes widened in shock as he moved a little back looking right into her hazel eyes as she saw the rage and fury in his eyes. It was not directed towards her but towards someone or something else. "Kill that fucker." He whispered again. "But don't you dare lay your hand on my family?"

"I don't want to kill him," Clarissa said keeping her stance firm as to show him that he did not intimidate her. If something like this had happened during the war, Clarissa would have shredded him to pieces in a few minutes but as of right now attacking the eldest son of Aurelia seemed like a very difficult option. She needed to stay calm and try to settle this in a more civilized manner. He had her cornered but he was not physically attacking her so she needed to keep her body language firm and show him that she was not affected by him.

"I don't believe you." His voice was low as if he was trying his best to not let anyone else hear him. "Drop the good wife act and let's kill him together. I know you can't trust me but I know Agathon,  I know his weak points." A soft smile came to his lips. "I know how to kill him." Theon stepped away from her. "I'm not saying join teams with me or think of me as an ally. A werewolf and a vampire can never be allies. They both are poisonous for each other, my only demand here is that be poisonous but only for Agathon. If you promise that my family won't get hurt, I will make sure to train you and prepare you on how to kill him."

Clarissa scoffed, "You hate your brother so much you don't even consider him family?" She asked crossing her arms on her chest. "I have faith in Agathon and his plans. He is a good man who wants peace and I'm going to help him in his goal."

Clarissa knew she should not just expose her plans because someone told her that they wanted the same goal. She needed to keep this to herself. There was no way she could blow her cover like this before entering the enemy territory. She had a plan and a sequence of events. If Theon believed that she would just tell him that she wanted to kill his brother he was truly stupid. Even if his goals were similar to hers there was no way in hell she could trust Theon. After all, he was an enemy too.

Theon let out a hearty laugh, "I'm just telling you let me in your revenge plan if you need help because you will need someone to kill that monster."

Just then the elevator started going down. "I am going to pretend that we never had this conversation," Clarissa said as the door dinged open.

She stepped out to see Lucas and a few other soldiers dressed in the black security uniform surrounding the elevator ready to attack at any time.

"What is going on?" Clarissa asked.

Theon casually chuckled as he had his hands in his pants pockets. "You guys believe you can take me on?" He asked mockingly looking at the soldiers surrounding them.

"No one is attacking no one," Clarissa said firmly as she turned to Lucas. "What is this?"

"Security measures," Lucas replied. "The elevator was stopped and the security system was jammed, we couldn't see or hear anything. It is the protocol to have a team in case-" His eyes moved to Theon. "Someone poses a threat to the princess."

"Well, then get the elevator checked out." Clarissa said as she turned to Theon, "I'm sorry about this." She said and he softly nodded his head.

"I think I'm gonna go take a walk. You can go to the guest wing by yourself." Theon politely said as he walked past her.

"What the fuck?" Clarissa turned to Lucas.

"I'm sorry that's the protocol." He apologized.

"Well, do something about that stupid protocol." She said as her eyes turned to see Theon leaving the building through the main gate.

Clarissa knew things would be easier if she had an ally in the Aurelia Castle. But she was not on some noble mission for her country. She was going there to take her revenge and needed to do it alone. Why? Because no one in this world can understand her feelings or her revenge. No one would be able to fully indulge in it and an ally could even turn into a liability. So even if Theon was on her side she couldn't possibly let him know about her plans. But this incident gave her the confirmation of the cracks in the bond of the Aurelia family. She was still hellbent on her revenge but she was also now curious about why those cracks existed. May be just maybe she could use those cracks to her own advantage.
