Chapter 19 - At A Cost

I then looked back to the Orc after setting up for round 2. I looked the Orc dead in the eyes and couldn't resist saying it..., "Time for round 2 motherfucker!"

I felt all the pain throughout my body causing me to tense frequently. I looked the Orc in the eye once more before moving faster than anyone present thought I possibly could move.

Blood poured out of me from all the cuts and gashes, I didn't let that slow me down for I closed in on the Orc. I leaned foward more almost coming parallel with the ground.

In a second, the time it took for me to move from my spot to the face of the Orc with my right arm reared back poised to strike with all my strength. The Orc widen its eyes in shock before its lips curled up just barely and attempting to block but just barely missing it and getting slammed to the ground.

"RRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAHHHHHHHH," I roared a roar worthy of a primal beast. I landed the hit with all my current strength and watched the Orc go down with a loud crash and thud.

*CRASH*

*THUD*

I landed back on the ground only to feel all the energy I just had vanished. I looked down with a wry smile on my face seeing my legs trembled but still holding fast.

*CRACKLE*

The sound of rocks being moved and falling down could be heard from the exact spot where I had slammed down that Orc.

With trepidation I slowly turned around to see the Orc standing but not uninjured. It lost 2 Tusks, had an eye handing from its head, a broken leg with sharp and jagged bone sticking through the skin and a warped arm that one would think was malformed at birth.

"Holy shit, I did a number on you didn't I," I said with some brovado trying to hide my weakness right now.

The snarl I assume it tried to make sounded like someone gurgling water, those rage filled eyes seemed to think of nothing else other than my death.

Then it shocked me to see any intelligence in this being who seemed nothing more than a brute, but those eyes said something else.

"DIE," it growaled and snarled at the same time while froathing at the mouth from rage. It charged faster this time than it did the first time and I had no time to dodge so I attempted to block.

I raised my hands just in time to catch the watermelon sized meat hammers it called fists. My forearms ached at first then a audible crack was heard. That was the beginning of the end for me, I was flung away from the force of the impact crashing through trees snapping tree trunks with a diameter of roughly 3 feet.

*Cough*

*Splat*

I spat out blood after coughing hard enough to push a sailboat. I felt like shit, knowing a few ribs were cracked if not broken with a visably broken forearm to boot. I lay there beaten and broken, watching my demise slowly make its way to me.

"You know, I don't think I felt that. You hit like bitch," I said with a bloodied grin on my face. I watched the anger the thing had for me soar, well if it wasn't angry before it sure was now.

"If I survive this, I need to learn to fight better than having a slug fest with something obviously stronger than me," I thought to myself.

The Orc stood over me until its massive height was blocking the sun and I could only see its eyes. I looked directly in the eyes defiently showing no sign of weakness even if I was bleeding out and dying slowly.

*Snap*

*Snap*

*Snap*

*Thwick*

An arrow struck through the Orcs head like it was wearing a costume.... only if the brain matter, blood and skull bits didn't shoot out the back of its head.

"I think its about time I got saved for once," I said in a low, weak voice. My words even though soft could be heard for I was speaking to Sarah who rushed towards me faster than my fastest speed against the Orc.

"You stupid idiot!!! Why did you keep fight that thing!?!? What if I couldn't make it in time and you were dead!" Sarah said with tears in her eyes as she slowly and gentally placed my head in her lap.

"Sasha is on her way, she will be her soon. Please keep your eyes open and stay with me..... I can't lose you too." The last words that were spoken from her mouth hit me hard, "I won't ever leave you are Sasha behind, not even death has a hold over me." I said this to her through our party chat.

We were there for a little while waiting for Sasha to arrive, Sarah just kept talking to keep me awake while stroking my hair softly.

***

Roughly 45 minutes later....

Sasha arrived just in the knick of time for Mike was losing consciousness. Sarah snapped her head in Sasha's direction and shout for her to get over to her now with such urgency that is scared her.

"SASHA GET HERE NOW AND HEAL HIM!! DON'T STOP, HEAL HIM NOW!!" Sarah didn't let Sarah stop and demanded her healing since she was his last hope for survival.

Sasha ran over to them and slid to an open side and started healing without anymore words being spoken.

The group that was save by Mike huddled by in a root cave about 200 meters from the fight. They couldn't believe what they saw, a man, no a being of power and strength fought off againist so many enemies and nearly won.

"Who was that?" Asked Jen even though they knew none of them knew who he was.

"We should just be lucky that he saved us otherwise I don't want to think what would have happened to us," Bark said out loud with no one disagreeing.

"If he survives I think we should thank him and bring him to the village," Cassie said this in a matter of fact tone, Cassie did not know why she said what she said but she did for better or worse they needed to show their gratitude.

"We should set up a camp, for us and them for that healing seems to be taking some time. The day seems to be coming to an end and we are weak and beaten, so lets set up camp and pray those two don't try and kill us later." Cassie commanded with a bit of worry in her voice.

---

Out of the corner of their eyes they saw the group they passed by rushing to get to Mike setting up a camp and by the looks of it being hospitable towards them as they set up more tents and preped more food than necessary.

This small act just went a mile when all the group wanted was an inch. They have now entangled there path with theirs and fate has a twisted sense of humor sometimes.

small smiles adorned Sasha and Sarahs lips curling at the edges showing their contentment and gratitude. They then turned back to mike and continued to heal his beaten and broken body.
