Chapter 11 - First Game

18 April 2001

Morning.

8 AM

Bai Xue examined all the game resources that were delivered to him in the past week and once he was sure that he got everything, he paid them one by one.

In total, he had to spend 196.63 Credits for all various resources with BGM costing the most at 126 Credits and the rest was done in cheap.

196 Credits was nearly two months of salary for a normal salaryman and Bai Xue spent it to create an extremely simple game.

Just thinking about what he would have to pay if he ever planned to create games on the level like SF6 or Resident Evil made his heart thump in poverty.

Complete outsourcing was going to really pricy later on as his company expandes but that was for later. He had the development cycle of the first six months ready and he wasn't going to backstab it until he finds something better. Otherwise no.

"Now's the time to shine."

He said out aloud and began to do the final assembly of the game and three hours later he was done. He played it on his utility Telscreen.

The game didn't even start.

"It isn't done properly. Re-do it then."

A day later.

5 PM

Bai Xue looked at the game that was running smoothly till the end.

Fifteen times!

It took him fifteen times to get it right and he wasn't sure if he could do it again.

"Prodigy my, I shouldn't swear."

"I should have just paid the 10 credits to get it done properly. I hope I didn't butcher this."

Bai Xue ran his completed version a few times before getting an expert to do so and spend 10 Credits more.

He got the results in half an hour and he had made the right choice.

If what his smoothly running was just an unfinished painting. Then what he was playing was an art.

It was smooth with the music and gameplay, sound design and movement all seemlessly combining together like it was made to be played together which it was.

"I will get to this level okay. I will."

He swore to himself and after doing a final run to check everything once again, he put the game to sale on Eavāntí's gaming platform.

After the vetting process, it will enter the sales and he will watch from the sidelines if his reason for choosing Eavāntí's gaming platform works.

*To to to totoo to too*

Bai Xue picked the called. It was Mr Lawyer.

{I am done and as you requested, you can keep your surname.}

{As of this moment, you have no legal ties with the Xu family and anything you left behind will be given to your wife/girlfriend or the state if there is no specified person in your will.}

{On an unrelated topic, Xu family said they disowned you a long time ago.}

"That's not a problem. Anything else that I need to know."

{500 Credits for the contactless service. Send it to You Weixi's account.}

"..." [Bai Xue]

The moment he heard the amount, Bai Xue felt like he should have kept his relationship with Xu Bai Xue's parents for a bit more.

"It would have been cheaper if I went there?"

{Yeah. Only 150 Credits.}

"Oh~... Thank you for doing this." [Bai Xue]

Mr Lawyer could hear the immense disappointed in Bai Xue's voice when

he slowly uttered those words in hearable heart-wrench.

{I am just doing my job. If you have anything, feel free to call.}

He cut the call and Bai Xue was mindlessly looking at the Telscreen at the loss of 500 Credits that he just paid You Weixi.

"If they ever... If they fucking ever came to my sight to demand anything from me, I will end their lives."

Hatred created from the grief of lossing an amount that he could have used for so much, Bai Xue felt the rage of an Uchiha.

He fumed for a few more minutes before going to the Library council and walking around the gardens to calm his self.

An hour later, he took a bath in his dorm and decided to sleep a bit early.

It was 8 PM at that time.

...

11 PM

Bai Xue woke up to the sounds of his Telscreen. He drowsily looked at the notification before widening his eyes a bit.

He quickly got up and washed his face with water before sitting down and opening the notification.

A simple but clean panel opened in front of him, visible only to him and his eyes.

The vetting process of the game has been done and it had made a sale with the first hour of its launch and it was just a minute ago at that.

Bai Xue promptly opened up the forum to see if someone from there brought it but it wasn't from there.

"Well~ it's just an hour. I need to wait at least a week to see the optimal results."

He stated and opened the drawing function of the utility Telscreen to draw.

It was time for the second game and this time he wanted the characters to be more coherent to the resource material.

He had been drawing, cutting, sewing and such for the past month and he was decent at it. So yeah, he was able to barely convey the character designs in the first game but that was a week ago.

A week later and he had improved a lot. Now he can make the character designs more coherent to the actual designs and that makes the work of the outsourcers really easy since they would be able to recreate the characters more easily if they have more information.

This will be a game changer and was also in line with what the original creators had created them for.

The night passed in his slow but steadious drawing and then he slept a good portion of the morning until he was woken up in the noon by knocks at his dorm room.

Someone was not using the doorbell and instead knocking on his door. Whoever that was, they were relentless.

Bai Xue checked the door's feed on the Telscreen and it was the senior whom had brought the bicycle from him.

"Is he here to return it?"

"Do you need something?"

He transmitted his voice to the door feed. The senior looked at it and began to answer while staring at it.

"Huh?"

"I see. Anything else?"

"No. You have a sister, is this how you should talk about people?"

<...sorry.>

"I will call her. Thanks for delivering the message."

The Senior left after saying that.

"Xu Bai Xue has an Aunt? That's new. I just know the parents. On that note, there's no number of her. Or any Aunt actually."

"That's suspicious. She claimed to be the one who had gifted him his bicycle but Xu Bai Xue didn't even have her number, that's kinda concerning in its own kind."

"What if its saved as something other than Aunt. How do I even find it then? There's like 200 contacts that he had and most of them are the students in my department but I don't know them."

"If I were to call to check a few of them, this is going to another problem."

"She was going to come to the university, right? She will likely come again if I don't contact. Let's wait till then."

"Yeah, this will do it for now."

"I have a lot on my hands so I should be focusing on You Weixi's future at the moment."

"Sorry Xu Bai Xue, you will have to wait a bit more but I promise that it won't be for long. Let me just get a drop of my blood, even half a drop would be fine."
