Chapter 10 - Chapter 10; Follow up

I decided to go to the police station one day, but Ethan wanted to come along. Although I told him to stay

"What will you do at the police station?"Ethan asked, his eyes filled with curiosity,

I replied, trying to ease his concern,

"Don't worry, love, just wait for me here in the car. It won't take long," I assured him, planting a reassuring kiss on his cheek.

, "I'll come with you. I can't let you go in there without knowing the reason."he insisted,

Beb" I'll tell you everything once I'm done, okay? Just wait for me here, I won't take long," I promised him.

Ethan nodded, his expression softening, agreeing not to press me further to join him inside the police station. He understood that there were things I needed to handle on my own.

, "Okay, but if you need help, call me."Ethan agreed,

When I entered the police station, I quickly spotted Detective Viray.

"Hello," I greeted them.

They seemed mildly surprised upon seeing me but eventually engaged.

"Miss Marquez, right?" one of the officers asked.

"Yes," I replied, nodding.

"I'm sorry, but we still haven't received any updates about the guy you're referring to," the officer said, busy with his phone and hardly paying attention.

"Sir, it's been nearly 6 months. Are you telling me there's been no progress in finding the man responsible for what happened? What have you been doing all this time?" I asked, my voice quivering.

"Miss, as I mentioned earlier, we haven't made any headway. Even if we were to identify him, it would be challenging to press charges since the evidence shows that you willingly went with the man and that you displayed a motive," the officer replied in an insulting tone, a smirk playing on their lips.

I didn't know how to handle the situation. I need justice, and I thought the police would help."Tears welled up in Ellie's eyes as she retorted,

The police officer suggested, "How about this? We'll review the case again, but we can't guarantee a win. What's important is that we identify the man, and I'd like you to talk to him so that we can all gain clarity on what happened. Is that acceptable to you?"

I nodded in agreement. While the case might be uncertain, I felt that accepting it and focusing on identifying the person involved would help me move forward in life and forget about what had happened.

I wiped away my tears and reapplied my makeup to conceal my emotions from Ethan.

Ethan asked, concern evident in his voice, "What happened? Are you okay?"

"I'm fine," I reassured him.

As we sat in the car on the way home, the atmosphere was tense, and it seemed like we were both avoiding discussing what had occurred.

Ethan finally broke the silence, asking, "So, was there something unpleasant that happened?"

I finally mustered the courage to speak, my voice trembling, "I... I'm not a virgin anymore."

Ethan looked into my eyes, but he later averted his gaze. I couldn't help but wonder what was on my boyfriend's mind, but in a little while...

Ethan let out a sigh and tightly held my hands.

"I love you so much, remember that, and it will never change, ever," Ethan assured me, his eyes filled with affection.

A small smile played on his lips as he spoke.

"Thank you, I love you too," I replied. Then, regarding the police station and why I was there, I began, ....but he interrupted me.

"Shhhhh," he hushed me gently, his eyes locked onto mine. "Let's not talk about that."

"Okay," I replied with a smile.

I thought that maybe it was best not to push Ethan to reveal all the details, so he wouldn't judge me for what happened to me that night. I decided to leave it to fate and let go of the bitterness I experienced that evening. Even with my mom, I couldn't bring myself to tell her. It seemed wiser to keep that secret to myself and try to forget.

"When Ethan left, I immediately went inside the house. I noticed that the wiring on our ceiling seemed to be flickering.

So, I approached my mom who was washing dishes.

"Mom, let me do that. You can rest now," I told her.

"No it's okay ,It's almost finished sweetheart ,

Okay Mom. Please take a break after that."

Mom nodded

"Mom, it seems like there's something wrong with the wiring on our ceiling. It's sparking," I added."

"Yes, I noticed it too a few days ago. I already informed the homeowner, and they said they would have it fixed once we've paid the rent," Mom explained.

My mother sat on the sofa.

I felt sympathy for Mom; she looked exhausted with tired, weary eyes. I didn't have a job yet, so Mom was shouldering all the household expenses. I knew that the homeowner had been pestering us for the past three months to pay the rent.

That's why I decided to self-review at home for the exam instead of going to paid review centers to save money.

"Mom, when I become a full-fledged architect and start working at a big company with a high salary, I want you to stop working," I told her.

She smiled at my words.

"Hmm, then we'll buy a big house, and I'll be the one to design it. We won't have to rent anymore. I'll get you everything you want," I said with a grin.

Just thinking about this dream made me feel like I was soaring in the clouds. It had always been my dream to provide a comfortable life for my mother, who had been raising me on her own since I was a child.

"No, Ellie honey, don't worry about me. Focus on yourself. As long as your dreams are fulfilled, and your life is in order, I can depart from this world," she said with a sigh.

I rolled my eyes and responded, "Come on, Mom, you're being dramatic."

"But really, even if I have a husband someday, I still want you by my side," I told her.

That night, after finishing my review and taking a shower, I texted Ethan.

"Hey, what are you up to beb? By the way, I'm about to sleep after reviewing," I sent the text.

However, an hour passed, and there was no reply, which was unusual for him. He typically responded promptly or even called, even when he had just been at my place earlier.I thought he might be occupied with something, so I readied myself for bed, hoping to get some rest.
