Chereads / Tales of a Newbie Dungeon Master / Chapter 8 - Chapter 7

Chapter 8 - Chapter 7

Alexandra and I are heading to the organization to try to get a document for Luna.

Despite possessing various knowledge that can help in the dungeon, Luna has very little understanding of other things.

Because of this, everything is somewhat new to her – the transportation, the flying cars, the buildings and houses, each with distinct styles, whether it's a fully mirrored skyscraper, historically-inspired houses made to resemble brick, or a more naturalistic appearance, seeming as if carved straight into wood.

En route, we passed by a park full of children playing.

As we walked past them, Luna's eyes sparkled with curiosity as she observed them.

"Daddy, daddy, can I join in this training too?" Luna asked, her voice filled with enthusiasm.

"They're not training, they're just playing and having fun, and yes, you can join too."

One thing that the summoned heroes lack is common sense or knowledge beyond the dungeon. As a result, everything is new to them, and they continue learning about the world, developing their mentality and personality, showing that they are living beings too. Luna's innocence and genuine wonder highlighted this fact.

We decided to stop and play with her for a while.

Alexandra decided to join us because she had finished a project and needed to unwind.

Some children showed curiosity towards Luna and invited her to play with them.

While many children welcomed her warmly, not all parents shared the same sentiment. Some parents gave disapproving looks or encouraged their children to distance themselves from Luna.

Well, I'm keeping an eye on them in case they try anything, even though Luna is capable of defending herself, she seems to be having fun playing with the other children and hasn't noticed.

"Thanks for coming with me, Lê." I said to Alexandra, using her nickname.

"No problem, I needed to relax, and there's nothing better than accompanying and playing with an adorable child like Luna."

Fortunately, aside from some disapproving glances from a few parents, nothing happened.

After our playtime, we managed to obtain documents for her; the organization is classifying them in the same way they classify the monsters that some awakened individuals tame.

Furthermore, they discussed opening a section in my dungeon to buy the loot from challengers.

After a lengthy negotiation, I agreed to accept it. In return, I would have the privilege of buying items from them at a discounted rate and receiving a percentage based on the quality, quantity, and type of items sold in my dungeon.

With this arrangement in place, the organization shared a list of preferred mobs and loot, encouraging me to diversify the offerings in my dungeon.

After resolving this, Alexandra forced me to visit clothing stores.

Luna and she tried on various types of clothes. Luna's eyes lit up with excitement as she tried on various outfits, while the enthusiastic saleswomen kept bringing more options for her to consider. I didn't know you could try on so many clothes.

Furthermore, they sought my opinion on every outfit.

"You two look like a nice couple."

"Well, uh, we're not a couple."

"Sorry."

"No problem."

We decided to buy the best clothes and the ones Luna liked the most. Since the clothes were designed for humans, we had to take them to a tailor to make holes for her tail.

"Thank you very much, daddy," Luna exclaimed, running over to hug me in a heartwarming display of affection, imitating a scene she had seen before.

Back at the dungeon, everyone went their separate ways – Alexandra worked on developing a user-friendly app for the dungeon, Luna went to a room I had prepared for her in the master's room to store the things she bought, and I went to work giving massages to the visitors.

The app Alexandra is developing is quite simple; it contains information about the dungeon, such as available mobs, loot and drop rates, available shops and their offerings, allowing for reservations. It also features a forum and a suggestions tab, although we believe it will take some time for these features to be used.

We plan to expand what we offer over time, such as an equipment store, a spa, and perhaps a training area.

Meanwhile, at a high school, in a club room where various final-year students gather.

"Did you hear about the dungeon that opened in town?"

"Yeah, apparently they've been getting popular in recent days, so what?"

"I was thinking, what if we visit? It's a chance for those who want to work as awakened to get an idea of what it's like."

"Why not indeed? It could be a fun way to take a break from our exam preparations."

"I've heard that facing monsters and awakening can enhance physical abilities and even boost intelligence."

"Yeah, I heard that athletes, when they hit a plateau, would kill monsters to improve their performance."

"Sounds like a plan. Plus, any help with exams is more than welcome."

The government had implemented a strategy to encourage self-defense training and reduce the mortality rate. While self-defense classes were becoming increasingly mandatory. However, they can't force everyone to participate. To get around this, final-year students had the choice to continue this discipline or not. This led to most individuals having access to training equipment and a basic understanding of combat skills.

After classes ended, the group of students decided to meet up and go to the dungeon together.

"If we hurry, we might not have to wait long in line."

As if driven by a shared sense of curiosity and purpose, they all broke into a run, propelled by the desire to excel in their exams and experience the awakened lifestyle.

When they arrived, they didn't have to wait long for their turn.

With the anticipation of an exciting exploration, the group of students entered the dungeon, eager to face the challenges ahead. As they passed through the entrance, they found themselves in a corridor adorned with torches on the stone walls. The atmosphere was oppressive, giving off an eerie aura that heightened their sense of adventure and danger.

As they advanced down the corridor, they reached a large carved wooden door that slowly opened as they approached. Stepping through the entrance, they found themselves in a circular chamber with a high ceiling, illuminated by a soft light emanating from floating spheres.

Awaiting their arrival at the center of the room was a formation of four goblins and two slimes, the former wielding aged swords and daggers

Taking the lead, Breno, stepped forward with determination.

"Let's show what we're capable of, folks! Remember the tactics we discussed and maintain constant communication."

While Breno held the monsters' attention, the archery specialist, Camila, positioned herself strategically for ranged attacks. The others – Matheus, Raquel, and Isabela – split up to executing a flanking strategy to surround the adversaries.

The goblins charged forward with impressive ferocity, demonstrating a semblance of formation as they swung their weapons. The battle erupted into a chaotic dance of attacks and dodges, with the group trying to find openings in the monsters' defenses.

After a series of intense exchanges, they managed to deal damage to the monsters and gradually eliminated them.

After clearing the room, they stopped to rest.

"Awesome, the adrenaline rush is incredible! I'll never say that self-defense classes are useless again."

Deciding it was time to press on, they continued forward. Until the third room, they didn't encounter much difficulty. However, with each subsequent room, they took more time to eliminate all the monsters and sustained more damage.

When they were ready to proceed, something happened.

A panther appeared, heading in their direction. Upon spotting it, everyone went on high alert.

For a moment, the panther stopped and gazed at one of the team members. Deciding that things weren't as they seemed, it continued on its mission.

As everyone positioned themselves, the panther began to sprint toward them.

"Quick!" they were all thinking. Realizing that the enemy they were facing was something entirely different from the previous mobs.

They tried to fight with all their might, even after awakening and feeling stronger compared to when they started, they were no match for the panther.

While they attacked with all they had, the panther easily dodged their strikes, studying its prey as it did. The panther didn't attack but rather observed each one and the attacks they launched as it evaded them.

Deciding it had seen enough, it started to run faster, and in a short time, all the challengers were defeated.

"Weird, one of them reminds me of daddy."

---------------------------------------------------Change of POV-----------------------------------------

After attending to the last customer, I decided it was time to take a break.

While talking with Alexandra, I saw someone I know very well and didn't expect to find here.

"Brother."

Accompanied by a group of friends, with a weary yet enthusiastic expression, it was my brother Matheus.

"What are you doing here, Matheus?"

"I could ask you the same."

"Well, to put it simply, I'm the owner here. Didn't Mom tell you?"

"No, she just said you changed jobs."

After chatting a bit more and promising to visit the family and share everything that happened, we said our goodbyes, and Matheus left.
