Chereads / The Lightning Dragon In Harry Potter / Chapter 123 - Guilty Conscience

Chapter 123 - Guilty Conscience

Luke took Hermione's small hand hidden in her robe as they walked up the twisting stairs.

"Don't worry, Professor Flitwick doesn't have high expectations for spells," Luke said, sensing her nervousness. "It's just a small test, not the final exam. If you do well, you'll get some credits, and if you don't, he won't make a fuss."

After all, Professor Flitwick is known for being exceptionally kind and understanding, a reputation well-known throughout the school.

"I'm sure," Hermione said, hugging the book in her arms and turning her face toward Luke.

Luke had been teaching her various spells in his spare time over the past few days, and she was well-prepared for Professor Flitwick's quiz. She wasn't nervous because of the quiz; it was because of last night...

Thinking of this, she couldn't help but blush.

"Then why are you nervous?" Luke asked, touching the tip of his nose in confusion.

"I'm not nervous," Hermione pouted, her brown eyes glancing at Luke's profile.

"Is there something on my face?" Luke asked, noticing her gaze.

"Speaking of which, when I woke up today, my face was a little puffy..." He rubbed his face absentmindedly.

Hearing this, Hermione looked down with some guilt.

Quickly, she pulled Luke towards the Charms classroom.

After all, Hermione had a bit of butterbeer last night too.

Inside the Charms Classroom, Luke and Hermione found seats close to the back row. The classroom was designed with tiered seating, so they were sitting relatively high up. Two rows ahead of them were Harry and Ron.

Luke and Hermione were almost inseparable. If Harry and Ronald had a similar bond, it would be quite a sight, especially with the addition of a third party like Malfoy, and maybe even Snape, Luke thought silently.

Harry suddenly felt a chill down his spine and quickly turned his head to look. He saw Luke chatting and laughing with Hermione. He then glanced at Ronald, who was sleeping on the table, and felt a bit uncomfortable.

Why couldn't Ronald be Cho Chang...

At that moment, the door opened, and Professor Flitwick, a half-blood goblin, walked into the classroom with a large book. He used a floating spell to levitate the book he intended to discuss today in mid-air and settled onto his seat, which was a stack of thick books.

"Good morning, oh, and Mr. Geralt," Professor Flitwick greeted. He wasn't surprised to see Luke there, as he'd been attending Gryffindor classes since the previous semester.

It's nice to be young, Professor Flitwick thought as he looked at Luke and Hermione. At Luke's age, Professor Flitwick had been focused solely on studying spells, which is why he didn't have a partner even now. He sighed helplessly, feeling a pang of regret.

"Alright, as we discussed, today we'll be testing your spells. Of course, Mr. Geralt is exempt," Professor Flitwick said, pointing at Luke.

"Of course, Professor," Luke smiled and shrugged.

"Okay, Hermione Granger, you're up first!" Professor Flitwick announced, looking at one of his favorite students.

"Watch me!" Hermione said confidently as she stood up and waved her wand gently. Immediately, the pile of books around Professor Flitwick began to float, as if the entire room had lost its gravity.

"Oh, the Silent Charm and the Levitation Charm." Flitwick nodded with satisfaction. "Okay, Hermione, you passed the test. Also, five points for Gryffindor for your Silent Spell."

"How about that?" Hermione sat down, smoothing her pleated skirt, and looked at Luke with a smug expression. It was like a little girl showing off her toys.

This look made Luke chuckle. It was the same confident look Hermione had when she first started school, which had mostly disappeared since they became a couple.

"Your Silent Charm is pretty good, but the Levitation Charm still needs some work," Luke said, laughing as he pointed out some mistakes in Hermione's spell.

"Harry Potter, your turn!" Professor Flitwick called out.

"Yes, Professor!" Harry got up quickly and waved his wand. "Wingardium Leviosa."

Instead of the books floating, it was Professor Flitwick who left the ground. "Great, Potter. Your Levitation Charm worked on me," Professor Flitwick said, shaking his head but letting Harry pass. This made Harry overjoyed; Professor Flitwick was the kindest professor at Hogwarts.

"Ronald Weasley, your turn." Hearing Ronald's name, Luke turned his eyes away.

"Yes, Professor." Ronald looked different today, with a confident smile on his face instead of the usual frustration.

"Wingardium Leviosa!" As the spell was uttered, the books floated in the air under his command.

"Really..." Luke looked at Ronald, the corners of his mouth twitching. He had found him, Tom. The diary shaking on the dining table that day had been a clue. Tom was likely targeting Ronald, as it was easiest to tempt a young wizard in need of power.

"How come Ronald's spell is so proficient?" Hermione also noticed the anomaly. Ronald's Levitation Charm was usually ineffective.

"Probably the result of practicing every night," Luke answered softly. Though this practice was under the careful teaching of Tom.

The class bell rang. Harry couldn't wait to talk to Ronald. "When did your spell become so powerful? It's on par with Hermione's!"

Hearing this, Luke and Hermione also turned around.

"It's nothing, just more practice every night," Ronald said, but he avoided Luke's gaze and turned his head slightly. This time, the plan had hit its mark.
