Chapter 18 - The Twins And The Night Tour!

Luke proceeded through the dark and narrow grotto tunnel, an oil lamp illuminating his path. The rocky ground was scattered with various white bones and even a massive snake skin, creating an unpleasant odor.

The passage had several forked intersections, resembling ventilation ducts, all leading to different directions.

Following the narrow passageway, he soon reached the location that led to the bathroom. However, this particular intersection required a Parseltongue spell to open, so Luke had to seek another way out.

The underground passages branched in various directions, essentially covering the entirety of Hogwarts School.

Upon entering the ventilation duct and descending, he found himself in an unfamiliar location – the library.

The flickering lights were conspicuous in the otherwise dark library. Mrs. Pince, the librarian, wouldn't be on duty at this hour, and Argus Filch, the caretaker responsible for nighttime inspections, was likely asleep.

Luke extinguished the oil lamp, not wanting to attract undue attention. He wasn't one to take unnecessary risks.

However, a soft sound broke the library's silence.

Luke's eyes darted around, searching for the source of the noise, but found nothing amiss. Nonetheless, he had heard the sound.

Suddenly, he sharply turned his head, and a pair of scarlet eyes left a streak of red in the night. Behind him, a scrawny gray cat had appeared, its beastly pupils fixed on Luke's figure.

"Good evening, Mrs. Norris," Luke greeted the cat softly.

The presence of Mrs. Norris indicated that Filch, the caretaker, was nearby. Although Luke was aware of Filch's secret as a Squib, he had no intention of offending him.

The red tomoe within his Sharingan slowly rotated, and he activated an illusion just as Mrs. Norris was about to turn her head.

In an instant, Mrs. Norris froze, shook her head vigorously, and then completely disregarded Luke's presence. She continued on her path, heading deeper into the library to search for rule-breaking students.

"Illusions certainly make things easier," Luke muttered to himself as he watched Mrs. Norris depart.

However, at that very moment, a sharp cat's meow pierced the silence.

"Meow!"

"Damn!"

Before Luke could react, he heard exclamations from the depths of the library, followed by a series of crashing sounds.

With his enhanced eyesight, Luke could clearly discern two figures racing towards him through the dimly lit library.

Unhurriedly, he deactivated his Sharingan. Those eyes couldn't be exposed to others. Just as he made this decision, the two figures from the distance had already reached him.

"Hey, are you also here for a nighttime tour?" exclaimed a voice.

"Come on, follow us, or the caretaker will show up any minute now!"

These two lively individuals were none other than the Weasley twins.

Luke, seeing the unmistakable red hair of the twins, didn't hesitate and allowed himself to be swept along by their energetic pace.

"Looks like he haven't caught up to us yet," he observed.

"I'm Fred Weasley, and this is my brother George Weasley!" Fred declared with a grin.

"I'm Luke Geralt, a pleasure to meet you both," Luke responded as he shook Fred's outstretched hand.

George, with a glint of excitement in his eyes, suddenly exclaimed, "Are you a Slytherin wizard?!"

"Yeah, we've been on these nighttime adventures so many times, but this is the first Slytherin we've met!" George added with enthusiasm.

Luke, modestly, replied, "Is that so? I guess I'm breaking the mold for Slytherins' nighttime escapades."

Despite the historical rivalry between Gryffindor and Slytherin, the twins found Luke's company quite enjoyable on this night tour.

"It's getting late, aren't you two going to turn in for the night?" Luke inquired, checking his watch, which showed it was already three in the morning.

At this hour, only the three of them seemed to be wandering the halls.

"Indeed, it's quite late. Well, if you're free, maybe we'll run into each other again tonight!" Fred suggested with a wink.

With a friendly farewell, the twins darted off around the corner towards the Gryffindor common room.

"Those two are quite the characters," Luke mused, shaking his head in amusement.

Feeling a bit tired after the eventful night, Luke decided it was time to return to his dormitory and get some much-needed rest. There had been plenty of excitement, and sleep was calling his name.

As he retraced his steps back to the Slytherin common room, he encountered Malfoy and Crabbe, still deep in slumber with drool-soaked sheets.

Luke raised an eyebrow and snapped his fingers to dispel the illusion surrounding the two.

"Why are you two still not asleep? It's two in the morning!" Luke scolded, climbing into his bed, ready to drift into sleep.

"Ah, uh, oh," mumbled Malfoy, nodding sleepily and snuggling back into his now-dry sheets.

Luke had a restful night's sleep and didn't wake until after eight in the morning, finding Malfoy and Crabbe still in a deep slumber.

Upon arriving at the dining hall, he noticed Hermione sitting alone at their usual spot.

It struck him as unusual since Gryffindor girls often ate together in groups of three or four. Hermione seemed to be the only one dining solo today.

Luke couldn't help but jest, "Wizarding school solitary breakfast?"

"Thanks for saving me a seat. This breakfast looks amazing," he added.

Hermione, engrossed in her reading, appeared to have only just noticed his presence.

"Good morning," she greeted him with a hint of surprise in her voice.

"You're...a bit late today," Hermione remarked.

"You were just early," Luke replied with a charming smile. He caught a whiff of the familiar jasmine scent that always seemed to accompany her.
