Chapter 16 - Secret Passage

Observing the returning Frog as it discarded the little lotus leaf and found a random spot on the bed to climb up, Luke noted its exhaustion. He put aside his jumbled thoughts and focused on those scarlet eyes.

There were two methods to utilize the Eternal Kaleidoscope Sharingan: one involved replacing one's eye sockets with an experienced sense of pain, while the other was a fusion without any pain. Though changing eye sockets in the face of magic wasn't impossible at Hogwarts, it was an audacious feat.

Luke decided on the second method, but he had a lingering question. The activation and use of Sharingan consumed the unique chakra of ninjas, something Luke didn't possess. At most, his body was fused with the immense magical power from the Dragon Slayer Crystal.

Nevertheless, he opted for fusion, fearing that leaving the Sharingan unused might lead to unwanted consequences.

With his decision made, Luke initiated the fusion process. The Eternal Kaleidoscope Sharingan transformed into a white light and flew towards his pale blue eyes.

Meanwhile, his dormitory mates were engrossed in their game and remained oblivious to this peculiar spectacle.

Soon, Luke felt a warm, circulating flow within his eyes. When he reopened them, his once light blue eyes had transformed into scarlet, spinning tomoe patterns.

The two tomoe evolved into three sickle-like shapes, their high-speed rotations gradually stabilizing.

With these eyes, the world took on a different appearance. The heightened dynamic ability allowed him to perceive even the tiniest specks of dust floating in the air, a stark contrast to his previous vision.

Luke retrieved a mirror and examined himself with scarlet-patterned eyes, a slight grin tugging at the corners of his mouth.

The original Luke exuded friendliness and nobility, but the current version, with his handsome features and the Sharingan, radiated an air of malevolence. The negative emotions in his eyes could send shivers down anyone's spine.

After all, these eyes belonged to a man who had lost hope in the world.

With a thought, Luke reverted his eyes to their original light blue pupils, as if the previous appearance had been a mere illusion.

"Is it draining my magical energy?" Luke pondered. He carefully assessed the situation and found that the magic power supplied by the Dragon Slayer Crystal in his body had decreased slightly, but it was akin to a drop in a vast ocean.

Having experienced the incredible dynamic abilities of these eyes, he decided to experiment further.

With that in mind, Luke unlocked the Sharingan and turned his gaze toward the two Malfoys, who were still engrossed in their building game.

"Hey, Malfoy!"

"?How—"

Upon hearing Luke's shout, Malfoy quickly raised his head, but he was bewildered when he saw the scarlet eyes.

Crabbe, standing nearby, experienced the same reaction. The expressions on their faces gradually blurred, and soon, drool spilled uncontrollably from the corners of their mouths. They looked like entranced children.

"An excellent experiment," Luke concluded. Being at Slytherin provided him with ample opportunities for various experiments, thanks to the presence of numerous pure-blood wizards.

Illusion was one of Sharingan's specialties, and almost every member of the Uchiha family excelled in this art, except for a few exceptions.

At this moment, Luke's perspective unveiled a subtle revelation before him. He found himself gazing upon the forms of Malfoy and Crabbe, their bodies pulsating with minuscule energies.

"This is... magic?" He mused in awe.

Luke observed with intense curiosity, his abilities allowing him to discern the flow of the enemy's chakra. Yet, he had never anticipated that the magical prowess of a wizard could possess such qualities!

If this newfound ability were combined with his keen observational skills, it meant that whenever someone cast a spell before Luke, he could promptly decipher its intricacies. Truly, a potent ability.

The sheer horror of Sharingan's capabilities could only be comprehended through personal experience. With a sigh, Luke shifted his attention towards the dormitory's window. He recollected the peculiar legends circulating within Slytherin's common room.

Perhaps, with these enhanced eyes, he could uncover one or two secrets hidden within those tales.

The late hour had silenced the entire academy. Occasionally, fish glided past the windows of Slytherin's common room, casting the emerald hue of the lake water onto the moonlit stone floor.

Luke, having just entered the lounge, donned a pair of writing wheels on his eyes. Darkness held no dominion before these remarkable eyes. With their newfound clarity, the once-invisible became visible.

As Luke surveyed his surroundings, he suddenly took a step forward, his scarlet pupils fixated on the serpent-headed statue placed at the heart of the Slytherin lounge. Intricate magical patterns pulsed across the golden snake head, their azure energy extending from the serpent's visage to the stone bricks below.

"Fascinating. Slytherin's quarters are truly the most enigmatic of them all," Luke mused with a wry smile.

He recalled the spine-chilling tales of senior Slytherin wizards from over a decade ago. Those who had once resided in Slytherin often heard a hoarse, eerie roar in the dead of night, as if a serpent lurked in the shadows, observing its prey.

Luke, privy to the existence of the Basilisk, believed that these legends held some truth. After all, the founder of Slytherin had once tamed a Basilisk in a hidden basement.

Basilisks are mystical creatures hatched by placing chicken eggs under toads, possessed a petrifying curse for those who gazed upon them indirectly, and instant death for those who met their eyes.

"I wonder if the petrification curse would affect my eyes," Luke pondered, his chin resting thoughtfully in his hand.

Without any doubt, the hidden passage in the floor led to the basement where the Basilisk dwelled.

"Should I give it a try?"

With his new powers and the Basilisk presumably in deep slumber until Tom's Horcrux notebook arrived, Luke's eyes sparkled with anticipation as he recalled the forthcoming events in the plot.

The opportunity presented itself perfectly. He had yet to form a psychic contract with an appropriate magical creature, and the Basilisk seemed like the ideal candidate.

If controlling it directly proved unfeasible, he could resort to illusions. However, there was one caveat – anyone who met the Basilisk's gaze would meet their doom, and indirect gazes led to petrification.

As he contemplated, an idea began to take shape in Luke's mind. It seemed he had devised a cunning plan to harness the power of the Basilisk to his advantage.
