The night was dark and the animals were all asleep. Athena was busy packing her bag as she hadn't had time to do it during daytime. She looked out the window, memories of the day she first came here flooded her mind l, she closed her eyes trying to hold back her tears.
She was just a young girl when her parents sold her to the palace to be a slave just for fifty good coins. Fifty gold coins was all she was worth in their eyes.
She laid down on the tiny wooden platform with only one blanket over it, she prayed in her heart that just as she survived this three years in the subsidiary section of the palace she may also survive in the main palace.
Day came quickly and Athena who was lying on her bed quickly stood up and began preparing, she and the other maids who were transferred to the main palace were to depart today.
They were told they had to leave early. She picked up her bag which she packed last night and walked out of the room.
She got to the dinning hall and walked to the line of maids who were standing and awaiting the head maid, soon enough the head maid came into the Hall.
The head maid looked at the array of maids before her and said, "alright all of moving to the main palace come with me and the rest continue with your previous tasks" she started walking and we all followed her we got to the entrance of the building and an open carriage.
"You all get on the carriage, when you get to the main palace the butler will brief you on the code of conduct as that is different from the one here", she said
The head maid looked at the Coachman after all the maids got on the carriage and he soon enough the horses started moving and he carriage was dragged away from the building.
The main palace was far from this subsidiary section of it as they travelled for half the day on the creaking carriage before the palace came into view.
The main palace was the dread of every human maid as it had the most number of vampires.
The vampire king was said to be tyrant, so probably the human maids didn't last long before they were used as blood bags.
We got to the main palace and met Lucy a vampire maid who led us to the kitchen where he Butler Adams was waiting for us.
"The servant quarters is two floors below this floor Lucy will show you your assigned rooms, return here when you hear the bell ring" he said and walked away from us.
The maid Lucy gestured us to follow her "this way", said we were originally on the ground floor and the red eyed butler said two floors below this was he servants quarters looked like we were going underground I thought
As I had thought we were going to stay underground when the only source of light became the dimly lit candles by the side I began to accept my faith.
