Chapter 7: Smart Boy.
[BASIC BARRIERS FOR DUMB SH*TS...
CRITERIA: What? you thought it was easy! thought you wouldn't need to practice? you daft swordsman! You can't just start doing any magic without studying everything beforehand.
Magic isn't simple like your brainless kiddy swordsmanship, it's a complex study of mana!
Firstly, there are two types of barriers.
1. Formation barriers,
These barriers can sustain themselves with mana cores as a source of power.
They require runes and circuits to function like the ones on these expertly crafted books. (which only a master like me can make.)
They take a lot of preparation, and only the best of the best LIKE MINE can sustain themselves for an indefinite amount of time. These barriers are impossible for the average magic user.
but, no person I know is average.
2. Casted barriers,
these barriers are summoned spontaneously and are retained by a caster.
Their strength is also affected by the caster.
It takes a lot of control and mana to make one. And I'd like to remind you,
you only have one of those qualities.
SPOILER!!! it's NOT mana control.
BUT THAT'S PROBABLY TOO COMPLEX FOR YOU AS A DUMB SWORDSMAN.
So think of it like this.
Formation barrier, powered by CORES.
Casting barrier, powered by YOU.
GET IT?...
Good, you are more competent than most swordsmen, probably because you are learning MAGIC.]
"This guy, he is going to be the death of me." Claimed the man as he looked at the boy who stared at the books with eyes of wonder.
The sunny boy was captivated by the solid golden aura that came endlessly bursting from the various runes engraved all over the book's thick leather cover.
He was enchanted by the bright beauty of this majestic pure mana. Such magic the boy has never seen before even the legendary cores didn't have such potent mystical mana.
The only mana the boy had seen that could compare was the man's crimson aura which the boy was quite scared of.
"So it's true, you can already discern mana signatures, huh?
I don't recommend admiring these foul, dirty yellow signatures...
They belong to a VERY, bad man."
The boy looked at the man before smiling brightly, then confidently blurting.
" Bayt, man!"
In the most joyful tone, as he learned more about these golden signatures.
The alabaster man's face turned into a concerned gaze, as he reiterated, "No, bad man, not Bat man."
"Bayt man!"
"No, no, repeat after me, BAD man."
"Bayt man!"
"... B. A. D. … BAD, man."
"Bayt man!"
The alabaster man sighed... there was nothing he could do! the boy now believes the perverse wizard was Bat man. Why of all people had the boy shown interest in this foul fool?
The boy's eyes sparkled, and he found his new object of admiration...
Bat man.
The man had an expression of aghast...
just what had he just started?
the boy continued to sparkle, grinning widely as he admired the shining gold aura of this illusive Bayt man.
the man could do nothing. He had accidentally sent the boy into admiring that rude, ugly, narcissistic, pervert.
the man tried desperately to convince the boy that the wizard was evil incarnate, but all of a sudden, the boy that always listened to everything the man said went deaf.
the man eventually admitted defeat, the boy was too stubborn!
But he's a literal baby he can't even eat by himself, yet he was winning arguments with a man who was known for his wits.
but, what was the man to do? smack it into him, the boy wasn't even his kid.
It's alright as long as he doesn't meet the pervert, thought the man as he continued reading the book, now keeping close attention to the sunny boy whilst doing so.
[OKAY!!! let's get our little session on the way, shall we?
So before you start doing either. Mister, you're going to have to practice mana control. So go back to the start, you CHEATER.
think you can fast pass this?.}
Tsk, how does he know? questioned the man, but as the man looked upon the other pages of the book, he noticed.
That the same message was written on every single page!
"This guy is so persistent! It can't be that hard, I've already mastered the art of aura. How hard can magic mana be?" announced the man in an exhausted tone.
the man ignored the wizard's precarious words of caution.
and read on.
[So firstly, when making barriers, I suggest starting by casting and practicing before attempting any magic formations.
I STRONGLY! advise you to listen to my suggestions or, well, you see the consequences.
Even for me, formations are a damn pain in the as*! So, for a baby fledgling magic user like you, it's impossible!
But, luckily for you, I have my own modified formations in this book. Okay, okay, I hear you, JusT, Get To tHe DamN PoInT AlrEaDY! now patience, my dear brute.
Here it is so read carefully.
To begin with, you're going to attempt to manipulate the mana that surrounds you.
You must feel it surrounds you and is yours, picture it moving.
Mana is like water it flows, manipulate its flow, to collect it in one area.
practice this … YOU HEAR ME I SAID PRACTICE!
DON'T TRY IT WITHOUT PRACTICE! Don't say I didn't warn you.
Once you can do this, you can start manipulating its shape. Thin it out into a fine layer, and condense it as though you're trying to freeze the mana in place picture it as solid and sturdy, unmoving and unwavering if you do so it will do exactly that.
These are all very simple instructions to begin to form a baby-level barrier. if you bothered learning mana manipulation, that is.
once you can do that, you can begin to practice manipulating its size, shape, qualities, strength, and whatever ever else you can wrap your pretty little head around.
These manipulations are only made possible by mana control. So for f*cks sake just practice and learn it first.]
The man put down the book and sat the boy on his bed before standing and raising his right hand to eye level.
The man had an exceptional sense of mana so he should be able to adequately control it. the man began to try his best to concentrate his crimson mana.
Slowly, a swirling red glow came to the centre of the room, expanding, growing larger and larger. It began to rattle the surroundings, causing the house to tremble, shuddering under the huge quantity of mana that condensed at its core.
The man's ghastly mana was too much, it was too BIG!
The man then desperately attempted to flatten his mana into a shield. his mana let out a booming pressure that suffocated them.
His mana was quaking the lands, sending vast tremors through the ground that resonated throughout the iced planes they inhabited.
Slowly, the small condensed blob began to spread out into an unstable, wonky disk that started to deform stretching and condensing.
There was too much of it, it was too potent and strong.
The man's mana was so vast it flowed uncontrollably, it was chaotic and wild, live like a beast that was very hard to tame, never mind control.
Then, it began to vigorously jitter before exploding. Sending a loud earthy boom that echoed through the border.
The many decorations flew off their mounts, crashing to the ground as the various wooden furniture was quickly displaced.
Turning the organized cottage into a cluttered mess once again!
The man had a look of distress witnessing his hard work be undone in front of his very eyes, as the sunny boy once again broke into laughter!
The man had a face full of disappointment as he paused his little training sessions to clean his house once more.
Placing returning everything to its rightful place. As he dwelled on his prior failure.
Though he did despise the wizard, he couldn't deny the truth.
The truth was, the pervert is right. The man of alabaster had no control of his mana beyond aura and enhancements.
His dismissal of this, caused him to face the consequences of his actions, as he cleaned that very consequence he begrudgingly admitted.
He was going to have to read more of that book than he was comfortable with.
"All this trouble just so I can keep you safe. You better pay me back when you are older."
As the man picked up the last of the bizarre fallen decoration from the wooden floor, he heard a loud.
POP!
The man turned to be shocked, utterly flabbergasted!
The alabaster man was yet again too stunned to speak. The sight in front of him was a miracle by anyone's standards.
What he saw was.
The sunny boy giggled, with a bright sunny orb of condensed mana floating in between his small stubby fingers.
The boy had copied him!!!
In short, he was controlling mana!!!!!!
"WHAT DID YOU JUST DO!!!!"
The alabaster man said calmly.
As he lifted the boy, he was a genius! The boy giggled, enjoying the ride as he was flung into the air and caught by the man.
And that is how our training arc starts.
