James was dumbfounded for a second, he was confused how to address this person.
'Your majesty or God or what else,' James thought.
"You can just call me Odin," The old man said as if replying to the questions in James's head.
"James I have lived for a long period of time, gone through great wars, fought and conquered realms and experienced a lot of things but I have never seen a mortal whom I can't see through a bit," Odin said.
"Then how do you know what I was thinking?" James asked while various emotions were raging in his mind.
"I wasn't reading your mind, to say it correctly, I don't have the ability to read your mind. I was just reading the expressions and emotions displayed on your face. Being a King and God who lived for countless years, does has its privileges after all," Odin replied.
James internally sighed in relief and promised himself to try to better reign his emotions and expressions instead of being an open book that can be easily seen through.
'Seems like living for countless years has not degraded his intelligence. Even when he is almost at the death's door, his perception is very high. God if he knew what I was thinking, he definitely would have hit me. But I can conclude that, the abilities granted to me by the God via the beautiful angel are overpowered,' James concluded.
"James what do you think about destiny?" Odin asked.
"It depends upon the particular person?" James was not sure why this old man was suddenly asking such a question and answered whatever came to his mind.
"That is true, however that person must have power to influence his destiny, without which everything is useless," Odin said.
"Then what about fate, is it different from destiny?" James was a curious person and reading a lot of webnovels in his previous life, he too was interested in such things.
"I can control my destiny, but not my fate. Destiny means there are opportunities to turn right or left, but fate is a one-way street. I believe we all have the choice as to whether we fulfil our destiny, but our fate is sealed. Even us Gods succumb to fate and are powerless before it," Odin said gloomily.
"Who decides our fate?" James asked curiously ignoring Odin's mood.
"Most Gods believe that the Universe we preside in decides our fate," Odin answered.
"Is there really no way to change our fate?," James questioned.
"No unless the person is a lot stronger then the Universe itself. Sadly, I have never met such a person in my whole life," Odin sighed.
James remained silent at Odin's comment waiting for him to come at the main point for which he was called here.
"You must be confused as to why I am talking about such things," Odin smiled.
James nodded his head in agreement.
"James in the near future my wife will die. And you, James have the ability to change that," Odin said.
James was surprised by such response but still retorted," Aren't you a God? Why can't you save her?"
This question had been in James's mind for a long period of time after watching the movie as to why Odin didn't save his wife.
"These matters cannot be explained and cannot be understood easily either by a mortal. I am not belittling you, but understanding such things without sufficient knowledge is not possible at all. It is not worth satisfying the curiosity you have now. Just telling you this much is overexerting me," As he said that Odin's face had turned pale.
After a few seconds his complexion became rosy again and he let out a deep breath.
'What a bummer, I guess I have to remain in suspense my whole life,' James thought.
"I have been endlessly searching ways to avoid her death, but still didn't found anything, untill the day you awakened your powers. I could finally see some hope," Odin confessed.
'Love really makes a person blind. Man is ready to do anything for his wife but doesn't give a shit about the destruction of Asgard. Also the day I awakened my powers means the day I transmigrated here. Dude must have watched my fight with the Destroyer,' James concluded.
"Do you agree to help me?" Odin asked James.
James replied without a thought," Of course. Thor is my friend and I would definitely help him in protecting his mother."
Odin smiled brightly. I had never seen him in such a jolly mood in the movies. He always had a serious and mysterious persona in the movies.
"Don't tell Thor about anything we discuss here. Everything we talked should remain between us only," Odin said sternly.
"Of course, Sir my lips are sealed," James smiled lightly. He would be a fool to call Odin by his name even with his permission. Odin appeared as an amiable old man before him and that too only because he wanted a huge favour from James. Despite all that he was still a God and being cautious costs nothing. Also if he wanted to ask for a gift in return for completing such a task, he definitely should be polite.
But Odin was far ahead in such matters compared to James.
"I watched your battle with Destroyer and apart from the lack of combat experience, your attacking power has a weakness, which is not being able to focus the destructive power at one spot. Due to this you were not able to defeat the Destroyer. So how about I give you a weapon just like the one that Thor has?" Odin suggested.
"I would be very grateful, Sir," James replied with a straight face trying to control his emotions as much as possible while inside he was excited and dancing with happiness.
As for the weakness Odin mentioned, he was not too worried about them as he knew that as he had levelled up and had unlocked the ability of Planetary Destruction which would increase his ability by a notch. Also as he levels up in the future he would get stronger and stronger.
"Of course, the weapon has to be forged first, so you can go with Thor to Nidavellir to get the weapon prepared for you," Odin said.
He soon ordered his guards and asked them to bring Thor to the chambers. Thor was just standing outside all the time and immediately entered the chamber.
"Thor my son, go to Nidavellir with James and ask Eitri to forge a weapon for him," Odin ordered and asked us both to exit the chambers.
