Chapter 14 - Eitri

"Nidavellir is a neutron star that is the homeworld of the Dwarves as well as one of the Nine Realms. Protected by the Asgardians and orbited by a multi-ringed megastructure, it is renowned for its Dwarven blacksmiths and wares," The Asgardian who was operating the spaceship gave an introduction.

The whole area was completely lit with lights and the forges were also running. Although not as grandiose as Asgard, it still had a certain charm to it.

Compared to now when Thor and the Raccoon came here in the future everything was cold and barren.

Soon the spaceship landed on the landing spot. Besides James and Thor many people were traveling in and out of Nidavellir.

"Its time to get your weapon," Thor said and started walking forward asking James to follow him.

Finally they reached the place where James weapon would be forged.

"Eitri, we are here for the weapon," Thor shouted loudly.

Finally at Thor's call a huge tall giant came out of one of the rooms. The giant had a huge grin on his face and fully functioning hands.

He was the same guy who had created Thor's weapon, the Stormbreaker. However compared to future he looked quite a jolly guy full of spirit.

"This is James, the one for whom the weapon is to be forged," Thor said. "James this is Eitri, one of the best blacksmith in the whole Nidavellir," Thor further continued.

"That I am, that I am," Eitri laughed proudly.

Eitri then observed James carefully. After he was done with the observation, he said," I have all the necessary materials required to make your weapon, I just need to know what kind of weapon you want to forge. Odin himself has provided all the materials. Once the weapon is forged, it will be as strong as Mjolnir and Stormbreaker considered to be as one of the greatest weapons in the history of Asgrad."

"Oh I have heard about the famed Stormbreaker. It sounds cool but is nothing compared to my Mjolnir," Thor said while stroking his hammer.

'A huge Red flag buddy,' James thought.

Eitri just ignored Thor's comment and looked at James, urging him to decide the kind of weapon he wanted to forge.

"Sword, I want a good sword," James said with a determined tone.

"How do you want your sword?" Eitri asked.

"It should be about 100-120cm in length and the width of the sword should be wider than that of a long sword. And as for the weight of the sword and composition of materials and all, you are more experienced in those matters than me," James replied.

Eitri nodded his head and started focusing on creating a structural outline similar to a sword blade with the dimensions that James had told him. After finishing that work he went into a warehouse-like room and brought some bars of metals in his hand.

"Is that Uru?" Thor looked surprised while looking at the raw material from which the sword was to be forged. Also the hammer in his hand hummed slightly showing some affinity with the metal.

"Bye the way I forgot to tell you, my

Mjolnir is also forged by Eitri and is made from the metal Uru," Thor explained.

"Uru is a magical metal that comes from the heart of a dying star. It is purportedly unique to Nidavellir, one of the Ten Realms. Also it is very durable and highly resistant to damage," Eitri added to Thor's explanation while working on the metal.

Then he threw the Uru metal bars in the huge iron furnace. The furnace seemed to be connected to a massive energy supplier structure. Soon a huge amount of destructive energy hit the furnace and the Uru metal bars inserted by Eitri in the furnace, started changing its form. They started turning into liquid metal.

"Uru is so powerful that the only way to melt it down for forging is with the power and heat of a star," Eitri said while collecting the liquid Uru and letting it flow into the sword blade structure he had prepared earlier.

After the metal took the form of a sword blade, the Star energy was cut off and Eitri started working on the hilt of the sword trying to connect it with the sword blade.

"Beautiful," James was happily admiring the sword in Eitri's hands.

The sword was greyish-black in colour with straight lines drawn on its surface forming a beautiful pattern. A golden hue surrounded the sword and was slowly diminishing.

"What is that golden glow?" James asked Eitri.

"That is the residual energy of the star. Don't worry it won't harm the sword and will be completely gone in a few seconds," Eitri explained while looking at his beautiful creation.

"Another unprecedented weapon built by me," Eitri chuckled happily.

Finally Eitri connected the sword blade with the hilt and the weapon was finally ready to be used. Eitri handed the weapon to James who excitedly took it from his hands and started examining every nook and cranny of it.

The hilt was also in a greyish black colour. Holding the hilt, he waved the sword in the air trying to get a hang of it.

"What are the abilities of this sword?" James asked still mesmerized by the sword.

"That are for you to explore. The only ability I know of is that except you no one would be able to pick up this sword," Eitri replied.

"Just like my hammer?" Thor asked.

"No that is different. Anyone who is worthy to hold your hammer can pick it up and use it. But that is not the case for James's sword. Only he would be able to use the sword and no one else. Others won't be able to pick it up and use it," Eitri answered.

"What if I give another person the permission to use my sword? How about then?" James asked recalling the promise he had given to Thor while traveling in the spaceship.

Eitri nodded in agreement," With your permission, another person would be able to use your sword. But he won't be able to use the sword to hurt you."

"Nonsense, why would I use the sword to hurt James," Thor complained.

James ignored Thor and asked Eitri," Then how are you able to lift my sword?"

"I am the sword's creator. But there is no reason to worry about it. As I handed the sword to you, I lost the ability to pick it up again," Eitri smiled bitterly.

"How is that possible?" James asked curiously.
