Chapter 4 - I Guess It's Great To Have An Angel Around Here.

"I don't care. You just saved my dad and I. You may not be an angel but that makes you an angel to us." Felix said.

Adrian smiled and ruffled Felix's hair a little which made him smile. He then reached for his school bag, which he let go of before jumping off the bridge.

He took a book from it and tore out a page. Then using his pen, he scribbled his number on the paper and handed it to Felix.

"Call me if you need anything, alright?" Adrian told Felix with a smiley face.

"Sure I will." Felix replied. Adrian then winked at him. When he stood and looked at his dad, the man was busy on the phone, calling a mechanic to come fix the car so they could be on their way.

"I just called a mechanic. He should be here soon." Philip said.

" Very thoughtful of you sir." Adrian said and smiled at the man.

Adrian then went a few steps back, spread his wings before lifting off into the clouds like a flash. Using the clouds as a cover, he flew all the way home.

Meanwhile at an abandoned factory in an industrial estate somewhere in Lagos.

Outside the factory, there were two heavily built men heavily armed with M4 rifles, each guarding a door that led inside the factory. Inside the factory were about sixty men donning white labcoats either sitting at their tables observing various chemical compounds or walking around with lab equipment.

In an upstairs office, there was a table loaded with state-of-the-art laboratory equipment while there was a man observing something via a microscope. At another side of the room, there was another man in a blood stained overall chained to the wall with his head down, obviously weak.

Suddenly an alarm blared from the man's computer inside the lab. He went to check the notification and was wowed and happy at what he saw. Then he went towards the man at the wall.

Pat!

He slapped him, an action which made him look up at the other man who was smiling menacingly at him. Then he showed him the contents in the tablet in his hands, which made the man on the wall shudder.

"Well well, Cedric. It seems it's true that there's nothing hidden under the sun. Your 'lost' serum has suddenly come out of nowhere, right? And the most interesting part is, it's in no one else but your own son, Adrian. Ahh... you watching him die will be so... exhilarating." The Russian man said in his accent with a menacing laughter.

"Leave him alone, Boris. He did nothing to you. He's not a part of all this, please." Cedric begged, vigorously rattling the chains that held him to the wall.

"Is that so? He's not part of this? Well I for one want to believe you, Cedric Alexander, but the presence of that serum disagrees with your f*cking claims!!"

Cedric then shook the chains so vigorously that they almost broke away from the wall. "Listen, Boris Dentine, you sh*tstick, if you lay as much as a finger on my son's hair, I'll make your sorry ass pay do you understand?"

Cedric's sudden outburst of anger shocked Boris but the fact that he's stuck to the wall gave him some confidence.

"You see, the thing with you Americans is that you threaten people even when you know help will never come. Look at yourself; chained to a wall, also forgetting that you're implanted with a remote electroshock device that can release as much as a thousand volts by the press of one button. And screaming at me? Not cool, man. Not cool at all." He said in a calm voice.

Then he held up a remote with only a red button on it and pressed the button, which activated a small device buried in Cedric's left side and caused it to deliver release an electric shock, which made him spasm and scream till he passed out.

Meanwhile at Nancy's residence.

Nancy was preparing lunch for herself and Adrian when there was a sudden gust of wind in the living room so strong that it was felt even in the kitchen. It even nearly knocked down a vase which was hanging near the TV on a particular stand.

Nancy rushed to the living room and saw Adrian near the TV clutching a vase. But when she saw his wings, she nearly passed out due to a shock. When she slumped and was about falling, Adrian was by her side in a millisecond and held her.

"Mom. Mom!" He called out to her while tapping her cheeks lightly like he was waking her from sleep. Slowly she opened her eyes and calmed down. Adrian led her to one of the seats in the living room so she could sit.

"Those..wings..how?" She said as she touched the wings, feeling how soft the feathers were. "There's only one explanation, ma. I think it was that strange liquid my dad gave me before..I lost him ten years ago."

Nancy stared at Adrian intently. "Hope you're not having any killer or berserk intent?" She asked, concerned.

"No ma. I'm perfectly fine." Adrian replied, smiling.

Nancy sighed. "Well, since you're not acting berserk or crazy, I guess it's great to have an angel around here. Come. I'm almost done with lunch and dinner." She said as Adrian followed her to the kitchen.

That night, Nancy was watching TV while they were waiting for the food in the microwave to get hot before they have their dinner. Then there was a news broadcast about an angel sighting on the third mainland bridge. In the news video, Nancy saw the so-called angel figure and one person came to mind.

"Adrian! Baby!! Come see this!!!"

Adrian, who was munching on some ice cream while watching TikTok on his iPad dropped the tablet and went to the living room with only his ice cream in hand.

On seeing himself on TV, he became suddenly shy and his cheeks turned red. Nancy, on the other hand became scared when she saw Adrian lifting that car and dropping it back on the bridge.

"Wow." Nancy said after the news headline shifted to another news topic. "Did that feel heavy when you lifted it?" Nancy asked.

"Not at all. The tricky part was lifting it through the air. The weight kinda increases then."

"I knew you were special when I found you, baby." She said while stroking his braids. "Oh I almost forgot. May came over looking for you when you were gaming earlier today."

" Oh really? And what did you tell her, ma?" Adrian asked.

" I told her you went to see a friend."

"Thanks, mom. I appreciate that."

"Adrian. Can't you see she's really in love with you? Give her a chance, son."

"May wants a boyfriend, mom. And I definitely don't need a girlfriend. Not now." Adrian retorted.

"Okay baby. Just follow your heart, okay? Good. I'm gonna go pack up." Nancy said and stood up to head upstairs.

"Pack up, mom?"

"Oh I guess I forgot to tell you. A doctor's conference in London would be holding next week. For the full week. So expect me in two weeks' time, okay?"

"Fine, mom. I'll go set the dining."

"Alright, baby. I'll be down after I'm done."
