[Congratulations, host! You have completed the third world and have been awarded 10 points!]
Yu Qingyu opened his eyes and saw a white ceiling. Supporting himself on the elbow, he raised his upper body and looked around.
His vision was very blurry. He blinked a few times, but it didn't go away.
[Your current body has bad eyesight. There are glasses to your right, on the bedside table.] 520 explained.
Yu Qingyu reached out and put on the glasses. Finally able to see well, he examined his surroundings.
He was lying on a bed in a modern-looking, a bit messy bedroom. It consisted of a bed, a desk, a chair, and a built-in closet, all squeezed into the small space. There were wrinkled clothes sloppily tossed on the chair and the floor, a laptop on the desk, and a few photos pinned to the wall. It somewhat reminded him of his own room, back in his original world.
He sighed in relief and plopped back on the bed. It seemed that he was in a more familiar world this time.
'Alright. 520, fill me in on the next mission,' Yu Qingyu addressed the system. He needed to take his mind off the events from the previous world. His chest still felt tight thinking about it.
[Of course. Your current identity is Fu Zhiren, a 28-year-old office worker. Back in high school, he was a part of the promising basketball team, together with his childhood friend, Jiang Lu. In their last tournament, they lost terribly at the regionals to their rival school. However, now they have a chance for a rematch! Recently, Jiang Lu met the former captain of the other team, Su Yongkan, at work. They made a bet, to bring back the teams together, and face against each other once again, at the local amateur tournament in 4 months.]
[Your mission is to help Jiang Lu and lead the team to victory!]
Yu Qingyu felt himself relaxing. That sort of mission didn't seem unpleasant to do. Quite the opposite, it was somewhat exciting. He has never been a sports person himself, but there were a few sports anime he liked. Working together with a team to win the game might be fun!
'So, how many points is this mission worth?'
[For a perfect completion of the mission you can be rewarded with 30 points.]
Yu Qingyu frowned, confused. '30 points? Not that I'm complaining, but why is this mission worth so much, when the last one was only 10 points, despite being so difficult?'
[Points are assigned based on the objective difficulty levels. The previous mission was considered to be easy. It was short, and you had the best identity and all the information. All that you needed to do was to make contact with the right people. Host only found it difficult because of your compassionate nature and moral standards.]
[This mission lasts 4 months, and requires you to cooperate with multiple people. You won't be playing the final match alone, after all. You need to encourage your teammates and ensure they are training properly. Otherwise, you might lose.]
Yu Qingyu rubbed his chin, thinking. 'Then what would you say are our odds right now?'
[They are good, according to my calculation around 80% chances of winning. Most of your teammates, as well as the members of the opposing team, stopped playing basketball regularly after high school. However, you have one professional player on your team, Ye Chaodan. He has been on a break, recovering from an injury, and has already agreed to participate in the tournament before returning to the professional league.]
'A professional player, huh? And 80%… That doesn't sound too bad,' Yu Qingyu smiled. 'So, what should I do now?'
[For now, get up and go to work. You can just focus on adjusting to your new identity today, as the first training is tomorrow morning, before work.]
Yu Qingyu raised his eyebrows. He was getting time to adjust now? In the previous world, he got to work straight away, even though it was a far more unfamiliar environment. But then again, back then he did want to just get over with it, and leave the world as soon as possible. In this one, there was no way to finish the mission quicker, so he would be stuck here for 4 months. If that was the case, he needed to get used to living as Fu Zhiren.
He got up and went over to the bathroom to take a quick shower and start getting ready. He also wanted to check out his new looks in the mirror.
He smiled, satisfied. He had a handsome face, with almond eyes, a thin nose, and high cheekbones. His short black hair were a bit messy after bed, and together with the thick glasses, it gave him a somewhat adorable charm. Moreover, he was rather tall and fit, as expected of a former basketball player.
[Host, I understand that you might want to admire your new body, but I would like to remind you that you have work today. You need to leave in 20 minutes if you don't want to be late.]
Yu Qingyu sighed and got in the shower. 'Alright, alright, I get it. 520, transfer all the information you have about the job and my coworkers.'
A wave of information flooded his brain, giving him a headache out of overload. 'Slow down, slow down!' Yu Qingyu rubbed his forehead with a frown. He was already feeling tired, and this only made it worse. After all, although the body he transmigrated into was well-rested, his mind was not. Because of everything that happened, he hasn't slept at all.
But at least now, with all the information he had to process, he had not a moment to spare to think about Liu Wei.
At least until he got out of the shower and made himself breakfast. Eating a quick, but tasty meal he prepared, he remembered the flavorless porridge from the other world.
And his mood dropped again.
'520… Do you know what is happening in the previous world?'
[Unfortunately, no. I have no access to such information.]
Yu Qingyu sighed and shook his head. He asked Li Hangu to treat Liu Wei well… He did all that he could. There was no point worrying about it anymore.
All that he could do now was to move on, and focus on his current mission.
