Chapter 19 - 1-6

'Hmm… What should I wear today?'

Humming cheerfully, Yu Qingyu browsed through all the clothes in his closet, trying to pick a nice outfit. A few droplets of water dripped from his hair, still wet from the shower.

He was in an excellent mood. He survived another busy week at work, and now it was finally Friday, when he was going to hang out with the rest of his basketball team.

They had two more morning trainings during the week, on Tuesday and Thursday, and both of them went great. Ye Chaodan, although still looking quite tired, with visible shadows underneath his eyes, acted much more like his usual, friendly self. Although Yu Qingyu still couldn't exclude the possibility of him being a transmigrator, Ye Chaodan's relatively positive attitude and devotion to the training allowed him to relax a bit.

Today, he hoped to finally completely clear his doubts, by observing how Ye Chaodan, as well as the rest of his teammates, would behave after a few drinks. It was also a good opportunity for him to have some fun and socialize with people. He's been feeling a bit lonely, just chatting with the system most of the time. Not that 520's company was unpleasant, but… It was just an emotionless system, after all. It was like talking to an AI. Yu Qingyu was starved for human connections.

In the end, he decided on a very simple outfit, just black jeans, a T-shirt, and an unbuttoned shirt on top. The place he chose for the meet-up was a popular barbecue bar with a casual atmosphere. Any fancy clothes would look out of place. He didn't have much to choose from, anyway. Fu Zhiren's wardrobe was quite plain.

He glanced at his phone, checking the time. There was still an hour left.

He threw himself on the bed with a sigh. He didn't eat anything from lunch and was already quite hungry, but what was the point of having a meal now? He needed to have some space for the delicious barbecue!

'520… Say, how do you think I should approach Ye Chaodan today?' Yu Qingyu asked the system.

He was considering questioning Ye Chaodan openly. If he was the real Ye Chaodan, then he might be a bit taken aback by Yu Qingyu's weird questions, but he might just take it as some drunken nonsense. And if he really was a transmigrator… Then maybe they could work together? Because based on Ye Chaodan's behavior this week, their missions were the same, or at least not conflicting…

After thinking it through, Yu Qingyu, although still a bit anxious about the situation, really wanted to meet the other transmigrator. It would be nice to exchange their experiences, perhaps he could even learn a thing or two, if the other person had more completed missions under their belt… Who knows if he'd have another opportunity like that ever again?

520, however, quickly quelled his enthusiasm. [I would recommend playing it safe. It would be best for Host not to mention anything related to the transmigration, so as not to risk revealing your identity. Regardless of what the host of 748's mission is, cooperation might not turn out to be an effective way to complete your mission.]

Yu Qingyu sighed. 'I get it, I get it, I won't say anything.'

[Ultimately, the decision belongs to Host. If you wish to, you can try telling everyone that you're from a different world… But that would be an unwise thing to do.]

Yu Qingyu just sighed again in response. Having nothing better to do, he grabbed his phone and started scrolling through social media, looking for more things to talk about with his teammates. He knew the basic information about them… But as he lacked Fu Zhiren's memories, he needed to be careful when engaging in conversation.

Of course, he'd already read through everyone's posts throughout the week, but there was no harm in refreshing his knowledge. He also needed to be up to date with the popular culture of the world. Although this world was similar to his own, the movies, books, and music, were all not quite the same!

He got so absorbed in reading, that he almost lost track of time. Only when 520 reminded him that it was about time to leave, did he realize how much time had passed already. He quickly jumped out of bed, got dressed, and quickly left the apartment, coming back a moment later to grab his wallet.

Thankfully, he was not the last to arrive. When he came in, there were still two more people missing. However, Ye Chaodan, the most important person of the evening, was already there.

And so was Jiang Lu, who threw him a sour, scrutinizing look as soon as Yu Qingyu entered. "You're almost late!"

"Sorry, sorry," Yu Qingyu smiled apologetically, taking a seat at their reserved table. He chose to sit directly opposite from Ye Chaodan, so that he could observe him well throughout the party.

Xiao Guan chuckled, shaking his head. "Geez, Jiang Lu, chill out a bit, will you? It's just going out for drinks, not some business meeting!"

"That doesn't change the fact that he's the organizer," Jiang Lu stated coldly. "He should come here first, ahead of time, not barely 3 minutes before! Most of us made it earlier than him."

"Yes, yes, Jiang Lu has a point. There's no need to argue!" Yu Qingyu cut in, with a slightly strained smile plastered on his face. They've only just met, and the atmosphere was already so tense.

Honestly, he would have preferred Jiang Lu not to come. The odds of Jiang Lu being a transmigrator were almost nonexistent, so there was no need to observe him. Moreover, Jiang Lu had… quite a difficult personality. Although Yu Qingyu didn't mind it himself, the rest of the teammates were far less tolerant. If things went wrong, instead of bonding, conflicts could easily arise within the team instead!

Jiang Lu clicked his tongue. "Fine, as long as you understand," he rolled his eyes.

Yu Qingyu exhaled with relief. The first potential crisis has passed. Hopefully, the whole evening wouldn't be like that…

As he turned his head away, his eyes met with Ye Chaodan's deep, dark gaze. He was staring straight at him with an unreadable expression.
